Okay so I really do like this shape sorter once the spinning part is removed. I really wanted a more basic shape sorter with only a few shapes that could be placed specifically through the top for my son, unlike the majority of the ones you can buy these days.
The shapes are quite small but my 1 yo has never put them totally in his mouth but like most toys they are probably meant to be used under ‘adult supervision’
I like that it has a door, another part of the reason I purchased it, the unfortunate part of the door for us is that you turn the small knob to make it lock and when its locked its locked securely, my son is too young to work this out at the moment so for now I have tied an elastic band around the locking part to stop it from dropping down as it was frustrating my son (and me) having to unlock it every few seconds
It is a reasonable size, Its not too big and bulky and can easily be stored away without taking up tonnes of room.
It seems pretty sturdy, my son has thrown it around quite alot and no signs of breaking. In terms of value for money, I would say 50/50 and to remember wooden toys are generally more expensive.

Bought as a gift. Much smaller than I thought it was going to be but my fault for not reading dimensions

My daughter (21 months) loves playing with her shape sorter. The product is sturdy and she loves the little door to get the shapes out again! It’s quite a small product which I love as it keeps her entertained but is quite portable so can go with us to grandparents etc.

My 10 month old son absolutely loves his wooden toys. I think they make a welcome change from some of his other toys that have lights and sounds and can become a little repetitive if used for prolonged periods. With this shape sorter, he has taken great delight in opening and closing the door repeatedly and emptying out all the shapes on the floor and he is just beginning to understand the concept of placing the shapes on the top and matching them to the holes. Simple toys such as this should not be under-estimated in terms of the value for money, as despite all the other toys that he has, my son will often return to the wooden toys, whereas he is starting to show no interest in some of the electric ones that he has, which in some cases were considerably more expensive than the wooden ones.

Nice product however some of the shapes can fit through a number of holes so kinda defeats the learning object however baby likes the colored blocks and loves the opening door to get the blocks ou

Great development tool. The pieces are quite small, and i’m paranoid that my child could choke on them. I’m glad i bought it, but i’ll be putting it away until my daughter is a little older!

Origally thought it was a bit small but that turned out to be a good thing! Easier for baby to hold! I also love that it’s adaptable as a child gets older.

Good little toy present for 18 month onwards will need help to begin with and top taken off as others recommend for young one. My 6 yr old enjoyed our too whilst showing his young cousin how to use.

Lovely toy but please be warned that the door is attached with small “pins” which can fall out and are hazardous for young children. Yes – there are hazards and supervision is necessary – but when children range in ages from 3 to 1 it isn’t always always easy to segregate toys – my young grandson aged 10 months got hold of this box after his older sister was using it – loved the door but as I watched him the door came off the hinge – fortunately we found the part that had come adrift and no harm done!

A really nice, sturdy shape sorter box. The option of the wheel (which can be taken off for very young fingers) adds an extra dimension to the shape sorting once the child is a little older.

The solid wooden 3-dimensional shapes look like they will take a lot of use (and abuse!) and the little door on the box is again a nice touch, especially considering a child’s fascination with ‘things inside other things’!

Looking forward to getting lots of fun and educational use out of this lovely toy.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersBought this for my daughter for her 1st birthday last year and it went down very well with her. We removed the rotating wheel for her to play with it as it’s too complicated for a baby with the wheel attached but it’s useful to have that extra level of challenge for when she’s older. She also likes to use the shapes with her wooden building blocks to build towers. It seems well made and has lasted nearly a year so far with no signs of it breaking any time soon.

Other commenters expressed disappointment about how small it is, but personally I really like the size (about 5 inches/12.5 cm square & 3.5 inches/9 cm tall) as we’re already swamped in toys as it is and anything that takes up less space is to be welcomed! Especially if it’s a relatively attractive neat little wooden box like this rather than the oceans of plastic that tend to take over when you have kids! I’m not really sure why you’d want it to be any bigger, unless maybe you are buying it as a present and just think the size doesn’t seem very impressive to give as a gift (take it from me though, the parents will be grateful for you buying something relatively small!).

Another comment mentioned that the shapes were very small and could be a choking hazard, but personally I’m confident they’re too big to get lodged in a child’s windpipe. They are a nice size for little hands but not so small they’re always getting lost!

A couple of minor problems are the reason I gave 4 rather than 5 stars: Firstly, the trapezoid shape fits in all of the other holes, which seems to slightly defeat the point of a shape sorter! Having said that, this appears to be a common fault in other shape sorter toys. Secondly, the idea of the removable wheel is great but unfortunately the little wooden screw that fits in the top is very easy to lose – I have no idea where ours has gone although I thought I’d put it somewhere sensible! Given that it might be at least a year between removing the wheel and reattaching it I wouldn’t be surprised if many people forgot what they’d done with the screw unless they are super organised or blessed with an amazing memory! In an ideal world it would be nice if the design eliminated this easy to lose piece, or if the screw was a little larger and could be safely left in place without creating a choking hazard if the child managed to unscrew it. Other than those two minor problems, this is a very nice toy that gives slightly more for your money than some other shape sorters and looks much more attractive as well!

quite a nice toy. the wheel on the top makes things too complicated for our ne year old. but still she loves to get the pieces in and out of the box. the box doesnt really have any sharp corners except for the door. its a safe and fun toy.

Can’t fault the quality but our 18 month old grandson has discovered how much easier it is to open the door and put the shapes in! Would be best to have a more secure door! But still a very good produc

This is not an easy puzzle and is quite challenging for my 2 year old grandson.
You have to keep moving the lid to get the correct shape. He loves the little door!!
