Absolutely great product for me, this smart light bulb is available in ES and BC connection. This smart light bulb has different colour light output as well as dimming function, also there is a programable multi timer for switching on and off. Which I can control them via the tappo app on my phone also via ALEXA.
Bought to replace a troublesome Philips Hue bulb that stopped working with Alexa (suddenly required a hub to do so!)
Took a punt on this & everything is easy & straightforward. Good App & most importantly I can use Alexa to control it. Excellent!
Very good connects to Alexa really quickly once app is installed the only down side is ours had become very slow with the response through our Alexa but to be fair I think this is down to the Alexa not the lightbulb itself.
I would highly recommend if you e been using Phillip hue and it’s stopped working with you’re Alexa device.
After changing broadband suppliers I had to reinstall all my Alexa-controlled smart home gadgets. All of them setup fine with the exception of one old Tapo 510E bulb which simply would not complete setup no matter what I did. I bit the bullet and bought this newer version – the Tapo L530E. It was set up in minutes without a hitch – actually probably about 1 minute – and a few minutes later I had connected it Alexa.
I’ve got these in every room. The app is easier to use and you can connect it to your Alexa or Google., I’ve had lots of different smart bulbs, but these are the only company I know that are still making And they do other products to
I recently purchased the Tapo Smart Bulb, Smart Wi-Fi LED Light, B22, 8.3W (2-pack), and I’m quite satisfied with their performance. Here’s a detailed review of my experience:
Pros:
Easy Setup: Setting up the Tapo Smart Bulbs was a breeze. With no hub required, it took just a few minutes to connect them to my Wi-Fi network using the Tapo app.
Smart Integration: These bulbs work seamlessly with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. I can control the lights with voice commands, which is incredibly convenient, especially when my hands are full.
Dimmable and Soft Warm White Light: The dimmable feature allows me to adjust the brightness to create the perfect ambiance. The soft warm white light is pleasing and cozy, making it ideal for any room in the house.
Energy Saving: With an energy consumption of only 8.3W, these bulbs are energy-efficient. Even though they are rated as Energy Class F, I noticed a slight reduction in my electricity bill.
Reliable Performance: So far, the bulbs have been reliable with no connectivity issues. They respond quickly to commands through the app and voice assistants.
Cons:
Energy Class F: While the bulbs are energy-efficient, the Energy Class F rating is a bit concerning. I would have preferred a higher energy rating for better energy conservation.
Brightness Limitation: At 8.3W, the brightness is sufficient for most settings but might not be enough for larger rooms or areas that require very bright lighting.
Overall:
The Tapo Smart Bulb, are a great addition to my smart home setup. The easy installation, seamless integration with Alexa and Google Home, and the dimmable soft warm white light make these bulbs a fantastic choice for anyone looking to add convenience and ambiance to their home lighting. Despite the lower energy class rating and brightness limitation, I find these bulbs to be a solid investment for modern living.
5 out of 5 stars for being a versatile, easy-to-use, and energy-saving lighting solution. Highly recommended for those looking to upgrade to smart lighting!

Title: Smart and Efficient – Alexa Bulb Review
I’ve been using this Alexa-enabled bulb and I’m quite pleased with its smart features. It responds flawlessly to voice commands and integrates well with my home automation setup. The ability to change colors and set schedules via Alexa is extremely convenient. However, the light is a bit dimmer than expected, which is something to consider if you need bright light. Overall, a solid 4-star product for its smart capabilities and ease of use.
This is an excellent and low-cost product that works just as well as the Tapo smart plugs which we have used successfully for years. We love the way these products can switch on at dusk (or from a pre-set time before or after dusk if required) and can therefore adjust continuously as dusk changes during the course of the year. The brightness can also be adjusted, which is handy although if setting it below 50% it doesn’t seem to maintain this and goes back to 50% the next day!
The only area of concern for us, and this applies to other ‘smart’ products too, is for how many years the manufacturer will maintain security updates as once these end, the products would be a security risk and would have to be disposed of and replaced, which could be expensive and bad for the environment too.
An amazing smart bulb from an amazing company.
With everything you need in the app and even compatible with all smart home devices overall makes you feel like your iron man talking to Jarvis
This brand just produces products which are simple to use and integrate and seem completely well made and reliable. Bought to replace a Philips Hue bulb which started to glow even when not turned on and eventually lost connection with she who shall not be named. Got sick and tired of my living room resembling Doris Stokes’ parlour with barely glowing bulbs so got rid of the Philips rubbish.
Was considering buying another very well known brand but not too keen on parting with a lot of cash for soft controllable lighting. Came across these and all you need is a bulb and the free app. So many options of colours, shades and brightness. Perfect for people who can’t stand bright lighting with light sensitivity issues (like me) I was spending a fortune on fairy lights, mood lamps and candles to provide me with warm but gentle lighting and still not achieving it! Purchased 3 bulbs in total at a fraction of the price of the competitors. A great mood lifter too especially in the UK’s gloomy winter days. Have recommended this brand to others. You won’t be disappointed, go for it!
Bulb
I recently purchased the Tapo Smart Bulb and I have been extremely impressed with its performance. As someone who is always looking for ways to make my home more efficient and convenient, this smart bulb has been a game changer.
First of all, the installation process was incredibly easy. All I had to do was screw in the bulb, download the Tapo app, and connect the bulb to my WiFi network. It took less than 5 minutes and I was able to control the bulb with my phone right away.
One of the best features of this smart bulb is the ability to change the color and brightness. I love being able to adjust the lighting to fit my mood or the occasion. The range of colors is impressive and the brightness can go from dim to very bright, making it perfect for any setting.
The Tapo app also allows for scheduling and automation. I can set the bulb to turn on and off at certain times, which is great for when I am away from home. I can also create scenes and routines, so the bulb turns on and off in a certain pattern. This has been especially helpful in creating a relaxing and cozy atmosphere in my bedroom.
One of the biggest advantages of having a WiFi smart bulb is the ability to control it from anywhere. I no longer have to get out of bed to turn off the lights, I can just use my phone. This has also been helpful when I forget to turn off the lights after leaving the house, I can simply do it remotely.
The Tapo Smart Bulb is also compatible with voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, which is a great added convenience. I can now control the lights with just my voice, making it even easier to use.
Overall, I highly recommend the Tapo Smart Bulb for anyone looking to make their home smarter and more efficient. It is easy to install, has a wide range of features, and has made my life much more convenient. I will definitely be purchasing more for other rooms in my house.
These bulbs were a good cheap purchase.
They are easy to connect to Alexa and easy to set up with the Tapo app.
Unfortunately some of the disappointing bits are that the Party mode which cycles through the rainbow can only be activated with the app and has no ability to be controlled via Alexa. This was one of the main reasons i purchased the bulbs, so my kids could play music in there room and ask Alexa to cycle the colours.
My other bug bear with these bulbs is that they are stupidly easy to factory reset. All you have to do is turn the light switch on and off more than twice in quick succession and the device is no longer synched to Alexa or the app. If anybody has kids, then you know how often they can play with the light switch, i find myself having to re-pair these bulbs at least once a week due to this.
…While these are great and I have a lot of them they are not bright enough to use in the kitchen. Otherwise perfect, they work, integrate well with Alexa and 95% of the time respond well to commands (like all home automation devices they can take a hissy fit) good colours, decent white levels but as I mentioned could do with being a bit more powerful to use in the kitchen.
I have lots of smart devices and bulbs. I find the Tapo are the best ones, the app is excellent, it updates in Alexa quickly when I change the name in the app. Brightness is good, colour correctness is good, unlike some bulbs which have colours all over the place. Tapo is a good brand with a good app. Set up is super easy I also have their energy monitoring plugs. Will definately look for this brand when I need any other smart bulbs or other devices that they sell.
I connected this with my Alexa and the app provided really easily. If you haven’t had a smart light before Alexa runs you through a lot of the things you can ask her. The switch at the wall has to stay on if you turn it off it disconnects and you’ll have to wait for it to connect again before you ask Alexa anything.
I do love getting into bed at night and asking Alexa to turn off my light as I’m too comfy to move! Ha!
You can control the brightness, the colour, a timer and lots more.
I have mine to work with my morning alarm so that it gradually gets brighter until my alarm goes off. (Great for dark winter mornings)
It’s also a great alternative to those who want LED light strips in their room for the fun colours, it lights up the whole room and you dont have to go through the faff of putting them all up on the ceiling, messing with wires and dealing with the wall damage.
It’s easy to use and I highly recommend.
Initially bought these to make living room dim during the evening when our youngest was under 6 months and sleeping downstairs until we went to bed to encourage darker/quieter bedtime atmosphere. Since then have used in kids’ bedroom to make room dark but with enough light to read a book, as part of bedtime routine. Also nice to have mood lighting rather than harsh bright light all the time. Plus kids enjoy going through the colours! Overall great item, easy to set up and use via app/Google Home.
Plenty bright for a reasonably sized room when using white light. My rooms are 4×5 yards and I find that a brightness setting 25% is comfortable for most tasks. According to my smart meter this only uses a couple of watts.
Set up was easy. One the account was created the Tapo app talks you through the process complete with diagrams. I did have a problem initialising one of the bulbs which it refused to add to the virtual network. Reading the troubleshooting guide the app presented told me that I shouldn’t be running a VPN while initialising the bulb. Turned it off and hey presto. The VPN doesn’t affect interacting with the bulb after it has been initialised and added to your home network.
Timers and schedules are stored on the bulb, so you don’t have to have an active network or mobile device available once these are set up.
You can easily configure what the bulb does when it is switched on. It can use the same colour and brightness setting it was using when it was switched off or it can default to any colour and brightness you specify. Means that you don’t have to fiddle around with a device when you turn it on at the wall.
There are some weaknesses. The themes, which let you have the bulb changing colour continuously, aren’t great. They either switch directly from one colour to another or fade towards black, change colour and brighten again. Missing is an option to move smoothly through the colour spectrum from one colour to the next – even my dumb 16 colour bulb with a remote control can do that, so it’s strange this can’t. It also doesn’t seem to be possible to set a theme as the default on setting which means you can’t use a schedule to have the bulb switch on running a theme. The gradual on/off setting isn’t gradual enough – it takes under a second. It would be nice if you could set how long it takes to go from off to your desired brightness and vice versa. One can only hope that a future software update may correct some of these weaknesses.
Easy set up.
Works fine with app.
Good strong colours.
Good range from dim to bright.
However, these bulbs aren’t great for when you want them to move through each colour. My old IKEA light strip and my old Homebase bulbs would shift slowly and calmly through the available spectrum with maybe about 7 or 8 seconds each. These go too fast and don’t fade into each new colour so it’s more like a 20bpm disco light on that setting.
All in all though, these are fine. Especially if you just want them set to show a colour statically.
I have had these in use now for a couple of years and recently bought some more. When I first looked a something by TP Link years ago their app was clunky as was their web interface, so when I bought these initially I expected things to be the same. Refreshingly, the Tapo interface on iOS is clean, simple and intuitive.
I love the fact that you can have 1 or 100 of the Tapo smart products, and you don’t need a hub and they can be controlled either by the Tapo app or as I do, via Alexa.
I have one of these in each of my kids celing lights and have them set on a schedule so that once they are on and dimmed before going to sleep, they then auto switch off at midnight. Having these on at 1 percent is using next to no electric and gives of something akin to moonlight – the kids love it and definitely sleep happier.
We have them in our loung floor lamps, and have them set up for various scenarios such as “Alexa, it’s movie time” and the lamps all change to blue and dim to 25 percent”. “Alexa it’s Christmas” has them change to green and Buble plays on the Echo in the room, “Alexa I’m home” has all the Tapo lights downstairs come on and Alexa says, “Welcome home gorgeous!”.
Alexa integration is superb.
Superb bulbs, they even tell you how much power the have used over weeks/months/years etc. Regular firmware updates as well.
Probably my favourite thing about these RBG ones, is that unlike the white ones which are warm white, the can do a range of whites and we have them default to a very cool white – it’s the main reason we bought them over the white ones for downstairs.
Superb bulbs, just buy some and enjoy.
I have installed a couple of these so far and am quite pleased with them, apart from one thing: they were fiddlesome to set up. I just kept trying until things fell into place! Alexa setup was easy enough and when the second bulb was installed Alexa found it straight away. Once up and running the bulbs work well, with a nice variety of colours and vairable brightness easily controlled either via the Tapo app or via Alexa.
High quality, great app, and really good lighting. This is honestly everything you want in a smart bulb, and the TP-Link app is exactly what you want in a smart home system. Not stupidly priced like the Philips Hue bulbs
First of all, I liked how easy it was to get this bulb to connect to my dual band router, compared to other bulbs I’ve used in the past, which have given me a lot of hassle and rage.
I’ve also noticed that the colours within this bulb are also more vivid and more accurate. Pleasantly surprised and happy with the purchase.
Don’t really bother with the colours but nice to have. Pairs easily with Alexa. The app is very good. On occasion I’ve pressed the physical switch to turn the light on when it was off by command. Just flicking the switch a few times brings the light back. You may or may not need to repair the device after this.
I recently purchased the TP-Link Tapo Smart Bulb, Smart Wi-Fi LED Light, B22, 8.7W, Energy-saving bulb from Amazon, and I must say it has truly transformed the way I illuminate my space. With its low power consumption of just 8.7 watts, it significantly reduces energy usage compared to traditional incandescent bulbs, helping to lower electricity bills and reduce carbon footprint. The app allows you to control the bulb’s brightness, set schedules, and even create lighting scenes, all from the convenience of your smartphone. The ability to control the lighting remotely adds a new level of convenience, especially when you’re away from home and want to ensure your lights are on or off at the desired times.
One of the key advantages of this smart bulb is its compatibility with voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This integration enables you to control the lighting with simple voice commands, making it effortless to adjust the brightness or turn the lights on and off without needing to reach for your phone or switch. The hands-free control adds convenience and enhances the overall smart home experience.

The LED technology ensures a long lifespan, providing countless hours of illumination without compromising on quality. Furthermore, the TP-Link Tapo Smart Bulb offers great value for its price. The quality construction and durability of the bulb make it a cost-effective investment that will serve you well for a long time. Additionally, TP-Link is a reputable brand known for its reliable and innovative smart home products, giving you peace of mind regarding the quality and longevity of the bulb.
In conclusion, the TP-Link Tapo Smart Bulb, Smart Wi-Fi LED Light, B22, 8.7W, Energy-saving bulb is an illuminating gem that combines efficiency, convenience, and energy-saving capabilities. Its easy setup, smartphone app control, and compatibility with voice assistants make it a fantastic addition to any smart home. With its impressive brightness, adjustability, and long lifespan, this smart bulb has undoubtedly enhanced my lighting experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their home lighting with a reliable and efficient solution.

Please note before buying,
The TP-Link Kasa app and the Tapo app are two different applications developed by TP-Link for controlling their respective smart home devices. Here’s a comparison of the two:
1. Device Compatibility: The Kasa app is designed for managing TP-Link smart home devices such as smart plugs, smart switches, and smart bulbs. It supports a wider range of TP-Link devices compared to the Tapo app, which is specifically tailored for Tapo series devices like smart bulbs, smart plugs, and security cameras.
2. User Interface and Features: Both apps offer user-friendly interfaces with intuitive controls. The Kasa app provides a more extensive range of features and customization options due to its compatibility with various TP-Link devices. It includes advanced settings, energy monitoring, scene creation, and scheduling capabilities. On the other hand, the Tapo app focuses on simplicity and ease of use, offering essential controls for Tapo devices, including scheduling, remote access, and motion detection settings for cameras.
3. Integration and Ecosystem: The Kasa app has broader integration capabilities, supporting popular voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also integrate with other smart home ecosystems like Amazon Echo and Google Home, providing seamless control and automation. The Tapo app, while limited in terms of third-party integrations, still offers voice control compatibility with Amazon Alexa for Tapo devices.
4. Target Audience and Device Focus: The Kasa app caters to a wider range of TP-Link smart home devices, making it suitable for users with a diverse set of devices within their smart home ecosystem. The Tapo app, on the other hand, is specifically designed for users who primarily own Tapo series devices, providing a more focused and streamlined experience for those particular products.
Ultimately, the choice between the Kasa app and the Tapo app depends on the TP-Link devices you own and your specific needs. If you have a mix of TP-Link smart home devices, the Kasa app may offer a more comprehensive control and customization experience. However, if you primarily use Tapo series devices, the Tapo app provides a dedicated and simplified interface tailored specifically for those products.
As usual from Amazon the delivery was a day early which was great. Due to my lack of knowledge with smart lightbulbs I took ages. Eventually I paired both bulbs, what an amazing difference they make in my office/bedroom! The brightness and colours are amazing! I thoroughly recommend the seller and the product. Excellent value for money!
A great light bulb, far easy to connect than others I have tried.download the app and follow thr instructions, it even joined itself to my Google home app which was great! The range of colours are gorgeous. I can set it up fir Google to wake me up and before bedtime. Great bulb.
A choice of many colours. I found setting up slightly difficult and if you unplug at the switch you have to reset it again. Having said that once you get used to setting it up, it’s easier to reset.
Wonderful – bought some for the kitchen – worked straight out of the box, linked to Alexa without any issues – this is what all smart bulb manufacturers should aspire to.
I got a xiaomi light, but for some reason couldn’t connect it to my Alexa, and costumer support said it was a location issue, wich sounds totally absurd and changed my opinion on xiaomi. But this one by tp link, it is really good. Easy to pair with my echo show, and has a lot of modes. It is also super bright, highly recommended!
Although this is a great bulb, I can’t get it to work with Alexa routines. I can switch it on and off with my voice, change the colour too, but it doesn’t obey the Alexa commands when I put them in a routine triggered by motion sensors. In contrast, my Hue bulbs work with both their own Hue routines, and Alexa p
Still, at a 1/5th of the price of Hue bulbs, these bulbs still represent excellent value.
Set it up in under a minute. As simple as fitting light bulb & connecting to Wi-Fi. Really simple instructions & set up of Alexa & it actually works well. The light bulb brightness is very good & the colour change work well. Very good
I’m still figuring out what the LED wattage is equivalent to the old filament bulbs but, at 100% brightness, these are BRIGHT! Easily enough for a decent-sized room. (My living room is 4.5m sq.)
Seem to work fine with their own app and with Alexa. I’ve had a bit of Wi-Fi loss, recently, but I think that’s because my router is starting to pack up. I’ve got Sonoff light switches; so, I’ll probably switch these out for Sonoff LED bulbs at some point.
Not much to say, it does what it says it does. It is very easy to setup and use. You can set the light to any colour and brightness. You can also set a schedule to set the light at particular times of day which can be useful. There are some themes you can pick which cycle through colours and such. Make sure there is 2.4ghz wifi available near the bulb otherwise it wont work. Some pros and cons include:
Pros:
– Works well
– Easy setup
– Easy use
– Looks nice and it very useful as you can turn the light on and off without the light switch
– Energy efficient as expected for an LED
Cons:
– The app is a little slow so it takes a few seconds to launch the app and then select your light bulb and then turn it on, but nothing offensive, maybe 5 seconds in total?
– Needs 2.4ghz wifi
Overall, good option for anyone looking for a smart light bulb, especially great if you catch it on sale. Make sure to select the correct fitting (screw or springy poles, I don’t know the name).
Generally happy, recently had to replace one that id had for 4 months,it simply wouldn’t connect to my WiFi or Alexa. Quite easy to set up and nice range of colours, not too bright but good for the price compared to more expensive brands
I have Philips hue bulbs all upstairs in the spotlights, which are great, but very expensive! I purchased a lamp for the lounge which wasn’t dimmable and too bright. I didn’t fancy spending a fortune on a bulb just for the lamp, so I gave this a go. It is brilliant! I’ve connected it to my Alexa really easily and the app is very user friendly and easy to use!
We embraced Smart devices, Echo (Alexa), plugs and bulbs some time ago, so it wasn’t a surprise when a Philips Hue bulb started playing up after many years loyal service. We did everything we could to check that it wasn’t the fitting, the Hub or anything else and concluded that it was definitely the bulb, so we needed a new one.
And then we realised that a Hue colour bulb is now ridiculously expensive, having bought them many years ago on Prime Days or Black Fridays and as part of a ‘deal’. So replacing one was going to cost a lot more than considering an alternative.
Most of our bulbs are Hue, but we do have a few others and (including plugs) we have devices from TP-Link/Tapo, LIFX, Eufy & Eono (Amazon’s own), so it was better to stick with one of them rather than have yet another App.
We chose this one based on reviews, price and knowing that the brand has good integration with Alexa.
It was simple to set-up and works perfectly with a great range of colours to ask Alexa for, but infinite possibilities on the App including much easier scheduling than Philips Hue.
However, I hadn’t taken any notice of the Energy Rating. I’ve since looked and can’t find anything in the ‘blurb’ that says what rating this bulb is. It’s an F. The old Hue bulb it replaced was an A+
So with energy prices so high, you may want to consider how much time the bulb will be on vs the price to see if a cheaper bulb will actually save you money over the years. If it’s rarely on and when it is it’s dimmed (as it is for us) then the purchase cost will be a bigger factor than it’s running costs.
UPDATE: BTW – apparently all bulbs now have new rules about their energy efficiency, so the difference to the old criteria may no longer exist as most Hue bulbs now seem to be far less than A+ as well. Apples vs Oranges?
I have them in all the rooms that will take these bulbs including my lamps, no more need for finding dimmer switches or dimmable lamps, just tell it what percentage you want and there it is, as a migraine sufferer these are fantastic for me, love the ease of saying on or off but does make us lazy, I’ve had mine in for 18 months now with no problem, like anything now and again they may lose connection from the wifi but not often and that’s more to do with your internet and not the bulb, will never go back to normal bulbs, I don’t use the colour changing function but my son does on his and that works perfectly too
Bought 2 bulbs along with tapo strip lights. Strip lights had no issues connecting to network and working with Google home. Bulbs though wouldn’t pair, this happened for both of them. Tried a few troubleshootings to no avail, turns out the problem was my phone or app. Using a redmi note 10 Pro. Installed the app on my ipad and bulbs connected no problem.
Absolutely love these E27 bulbs, due to the layout of my bedroom i was unable to put a bedside lamp next to my bed (no room) ….with these bulbs there is no need for the lamp to actually be beside the bed as i can you use my phone to turn it on & off and to dim and select the colour i want, downloaded the app and was very easy to find and pair it to my phone and then my wireless network, obviously depending which colour you select will impact the overall brightness of the bulb (white or warm white being the brightest).
I do not own an Alexa so haven’t tried the voice integration but may try this feature in future with the Google Home App. This Bulb CAN remember what colour and brightness setting used last (Last ‘ON’ state) and also has a CUSTOM option in the app where you can select the colour and brightness you would like every time the light switched on. The fact i don’t need to purchase a HUB is a bonus and keeps the cost of kitting my flat out with these to a minimum. I have purchased a nicer lamp for my bedroom so will update this review in the future with a picture to compliment this review.
