This replaced an additional router I did not really need.
Just label and plug in.
It knows the difference between the input feed from a main or local router and the output feeds. If you ‘piggy back’ extensions it can also resolve or highlight any conflicts.
It just works without problem. Simple.
So easy for a novice to use. It is aa easy as plugging an Ethernet from the router into this – increasing the amount of ports you have available. No expert knowledge needed.
Plug & Play Simplicity Meets Advanced Tech: This little gem embodies the true meaning of ‘plug & play’. No need for complex setup or configuration. Yet, don’t let its simplicity fool you. Inside this compact, fanless metal design lies advanced traffic optimization technology, ensuring that your network runs smoothly under any load.
Did the job I needed, plug and play for simplicity, and has a few useful functions for someone a little more tech savvy to change the way things work, if you know what you’re doing make sure you get the application for a bit more control
Now both the Apple MacBook and the Mac Mini can connect to the internet via the ethernet connection at the bottom of the garden shed using the TPLink switch and two ethernet extension cables. Worked like a charm. The TPLink customer support phoneline folk were very helpful too
Bought it because my ethernet cable was no longer connecting to my pc and I wanted to also connect my ps5 at the same time, solved both issues, it connects to the splitter no issues, no noticeable difference in delay
Well built and very easy to connect everything to it giving a much stronger signal to my TV than the previous WiFi connection which often just hung when showing films.
I’ve never had a problem with the smaller switches, and this 8-plug one is no different.
Works out of the box, all report 1Gbps speed, no signal issues or transfer speed problems. Works really well.
Lightweight, easy to set up. Longest time spent on setup was aligning the small 3M-backed rubber feet.
Bought a couple of these while moving the house over from WiFi to Ethernet. Switch works great. Connect the first port to your router, then all your devices in to the other ports and you’ve got a faster reliable network. The box itself is sturdy and silent. Works great!
I have this in 16 & 8 port variants. The 16 port long term and this 8 port more recently
But, Both of them have been faultless.
The solid metal casing adds a good feeling of quality, and all my network tests speeds are as expected and upto spec.
They certainly have a more industrial/it department look with the power cable going into the rear and the network cables out the front making them quite visible and not hidden away like some other switches with more thoughts to aesthetics.
But as an IT guy myself, these have both been absolutely faultless, powered on at day 1 and haven’t been turned off or rebooted since, never had an issue.
I recently integrated a network switch into my home mesh network setup to enable Ethernet backhaul, and the difference it has made is nothing short of exceptional. The switch is made of metal (not plastic!) and is easily wall-mountable with two screws (adhesive pads could also be used, though not provided). Remember, you’ll ‘loose’ one port because it will be used to connect the switch to the router. If you need more ports, you can ‘daisy-chain’ switches together!
This network switch has become the cornerstone of my mesh network infrastructure. It provides the robust and stable Ethernet backbone needed to ensure consistent and lightning-fast connectivity throughout my home. The setup was a breeze, and it seamlessly integrates with my existing mesh network, enhancing its performance significantly.
If you’re looking to enhance your mesh network with Ethernet backhaul, this network switch is a game-changer. Its speed, reliability, and advanced features make it an excellent investment for anyone seeking a seamless and high-performance home or office network.
The only negative is the time and cost of running CAT5/CAT6 ethernet cable around the house. However, the benifits far outweigh the costs of having seemless and super-fast wifi everywhere.
I tried 2 different Ethernet splitters from Amazon and could not get either to work with two or more cables plugged in. I bought this splitter a week ago and so far it works perfectly as it is supposed to do.
Bought to replace an existing 4 port TP link switch, but this one not only has more ports but is substantial being a metal case.
Installation was easy as it can be fitted to the wall as it has two slots for screws in the back, and then it was just plug in the connection to the router, and then the connections for all the devices attached.
Speed throughput is good – just been transferring some files from one Synology NAS to another and it was maxing out the Gigabit network speed.
We are currently stuck with a BT Halo 4 hub due to their 24 month contracts. Anyone with a BT router will know there are only four outlets for wired ethernet connections. Living in a 1720’s grade 2 listed property means – even with three extender discs – our wifi is sketchy at best. We’ve overcome this by hard wiring as many PC’s & consoles as possible but having only four ports on the BT box is not enough. This fantastic splitter has doubled that. It works seamlessly and we’ve had no problems at all connecting up six ethernet cables all running at the same time. We have the TP link extenders throughout our house too so I knew this was brand I could trust. Dispite some negative reviews I gave it a go and haven’t been disappointed. Easy to set up it does now come with rubber feet if needed – however I have stuck it to the wall next to our BT hub. If you need additional ethernet ports to work all at the same time this is a great bit of kit.
Had Bt Broadband 930bps speed in Living room. Its a new house. The builder had broadband points in our three bedrooms the sunroom and the living room. That is five in total. There were 5 ethernet cables in our attic. I crimped these cables. Found the ethernet cable with the 930 bps speeds which was the one coming from the living room.
I pluggled this ethernet cable into port one on the TP Link 5 port splitter. I put the other 4 ethernet cables into port 2, 3, 4, and five. These are the cables going to the three bedrooms and sunroom. I checked the broadband speed in each of the four rooms and got the 930 bps speed. The reviews i read said the TP LInk splitter when left on will not use much power compared to other splitters. The TP Link splits the speed perfectly without losing any speed.
I used the TP link 5 port splitter the living room and sun room as well. The Bt Router has only 4 ports. One is used for the main broadband input. The second port is used the send the speed to the ethernet port on the wall which goes up to the attic. This leaves two ports available. I have a TV, a Manhattan Box, and a Firestick. This needs 3 inputs but i have only two left on the BT Router. I used the TP Link 5 way splitter to overcome my problem. I put one ethernet cable into the 3rd port on the BT Router. The other end of this cable went into the TP LINK into port one. I now had 930 bps going into port one one the TL 5 way LInk. I now had 4 ports available on the TP Link. I sed these ports the send the speed to my TV, Manhattan Box, and Firestick. Now getting the 930 speed on my TV, manhattan box, and Firestick.
Would highly recommend the TP Link 5 way splitter. I got three and all working perfectly.
I’m new to network switches and having been using WiFi for my gaming consoles etc up till now. Wifi has been perfectly reasonsble but I’ve become more of a stickler for reliability and getting my input lag down in recent times, so decided to get this to run a long ethernet cable from my router to have my more critical devices wired instead of wireless. I knew switches were simple devices before but to my slight surprise it was literally just plug all the cables in and it just works. The only thing that was my ps5’s fault is that doesn’t auto switch to wired when it’s setup for WiFi. But everything else did just on simply plugging it in to the switch. Did an xbox network test and showed 17ms to the xbox server 0% packet loss of course. Not that I knew what it was on WiFi but latency was probably a little higher I imagine.
My only gripe that prevented me from giving it 5 stars was the lights on the device are a bit bright and glaring for my living room environment. I’ve had to face it away so when I dim my lounge lights it’s not a distracting light source.
Delivery from Amazon was very quick using Prime.
Pretty much plug and play. Access to Management software through its network address allocated by your server or hub.
However there is no User Manual available to download from the TPLINK support site.
Connected but need to sort out my cables.

I have always used TP-link ethernet switches and this one is not a let down it does exactly what you need it to do.
It uses little power and has reliable connectivity, the metal case is top quality and its slim design allows for easy storage and implementation into your system.
I will be moving upto the 16 port one soon as i cant fault the quality or reliability of Tp-Link products

Really simple piece of kit. Can simply plug n play or, if you are into a little more, you can manage the device through a simple web interface. You probably will want to change the default IP address if you already have a scheme from your router, but it’s simple enough to do that if you need to. My house is wired and I drop in one of these where ever I need some extra ports. Silent operation as there is no fan. Recommended.
My WiFi was to be upgraded and I knew that the new router didn’t have enough Ethernet outputs for the devices I had that needed to be hardwired to the router. I purchased this product in advance of installation and I’m glad to say all my devices work as they should. I also liked the fact that this is quite compact and didn’t take up much space.

Bought this to split the connection between my work laptop and personal PC in a single room. Easy to setup and haven’t seen any issues with connectivity on both laptop and pc but don’t run both at the same time. Bought cat5e cables separately.
I recently purchased the TP-Link TL-SG105S Ethernet Switch and it does exactly what I need it to. I use it to wire a number of devices to my mesh network hub for faster speeds than wifi.
One of the standout features of this switch is the ease of installation. I’m not the most tech-savvy person, but I got it up and running quickly. It’s also incredibly reliable, with no issues or dropouts since I started using it. Seriously, just plug and play. There is almost no way to get this wrong.
The build quality is impressive, and it feels like a solid, well-made piece of equipment. I mounted mine on the wall, but it comes with little rubber feet, too, if you chose to place it on a desk.
The four ports are incredibly useful and more than enough for my current setup, but as mentioned by others, it’s important to consider your future needs. Better to invest in a slightly larger switch now than need to buy another unit in the future.
Overall, I highly recommend the TP-Link TL-SG105S Ethernet Switch. It’s an affordable and reliable piece of equipment that delivers precisely what it promises. If you need a switch, this is definitely the one to go for.
before I decorated my home, my whole house was full of wires everywhere in the tiny home I live and the Wi-Fi, where I am based is not that great in my area, so I wanted to connect all devices together,
which I could do by this switch, meaning 2 games consoles
(Xbox 1 ps5) 2 fire tv boxes and main router alongside a NAS device and majority of other desktop computers and smart TV that take ethernet connections
(computers like apple my larger iMac desktop and a few laptops) giving me less bottleneck for wireless devices like phones and tablets, with this tp-link, I could run wiring through a wall to connect it to the Now TV hub in another room and create to create a direct wired network at home whilst hiding all the wires in trunking and making the place look A lot cleaner
the TP-link switch is not too bad for the price and for what I used it for I can want to use it for, On speed tests with ooka and online I usually get good speeds now around 60mbps and 20 down speeds and no more when watching amazon tv spinning buffer circles when previously on wireless,
One tip to give to anyone is to measure up and plan out if you like me going the wired route the size of the ethernet cables length to your switch, just for a hub I ran a long 20m cable from room to room to connect it through the wall to the main hub in the living room to switch and my office now in other room has the rest of devices connected by the switch
also, make sure you have the right power supply being an I.T geek hobbyist, I have found myself a few times placing the wrong power supply to the switch which is quite short (around 2.5m) with the power supply
apart from that I am happy with my purchase and thank you amazo
Really cannot fault the simplicity, price and quality of this network switch. Bought these to replace the wifi-routers we were using as network hubs, due to them interfering with our wifi signal even though we weren’t using the wifi they had (it caused endless problems with our MESH wifi discs getting confused as to which signal they were meant to connect to), but we also always found ourselves wishing we had another network port on them anyway. These solved two problems with one stone.
Sleek design and sturdy constructions means that you never have to worry about them falling off something and shattering like most plastic ones, the sockets for the network ports are nice, snug and the plugs click in very well. There’s absolutely no messing around with settings either. You just plug it in, power it, pop your network cables in, and it’s up and running immediately. No bootup time, no waiting around, no settings to tweak – just perfect, out of the box, immediately working. Couldn’t be easier!
You plug your ethernet devices in and lo & behold, you turned one ethernet port into many. I already have an ethernet hub in my home downstairs to connect wired devices, by using this one upstairs (which is connected to the downstairs hub) I can further split my wired network upstairs without more cables climbing up the stairs.
USEFUL INFO FOR NEW BUYERS:
– Even though it is a 10 port hub, technically you can only plug up to 9 devices into it, because one port will be committed to connecting to the internet modem/router.
– This device does need to be plugged into the mains. If you need to plug more than 9 devices in or you want to split your wired network into complex arrangements, note that every device you buy will be consuming electricity
– This device is cheap and plasticy. It doesn’t weigh very much, which means that unlike heavier computer accessories, you cannot just place it neatly on a desk, plug it in and expect it to stay sat still. The stiff nature and weight of ethernet cables as they try to unbend themselves will pull it about and reorient it or even cause it to fall off the desk. Furthermore, it does not have any screw holes so you cannot easily mount it to something. You might have to try mounting it with a strong glue or sticky tape, or place something heavy on top of it to keep it in place.
