I bought this for my work laptop as it only has 2 USB ports.
Works perfectly. I can now plug in a mouse dongle, keyboard and USB headphones with 2 spaces free.
it works well and transfer speeds are good enough for my work. have used it for a couple of weeks. the cable is short, so check whether the length is enough for your needs.
Use this in my car as only had 1 USB port yet have more than 1 item using USB plus passengers wanting to charge their phones etc – if needed would definitely buy anothe
My old one stopped working after a number of years and this seemed to fit my requirements. Working perfectly so far.
I attached this to my monitor, and use it to swap keyboards and mice when I use my work laptop rather than my desktop.
It’s a very lightweight little adapter, and in the three months I’ve had it has worked perfectly.
I’m very happy with it.
Compact size with 4 USB ports, well made with a good finish. The cable is short but not to short will sit by my chromebook and not get in the way.
It works very well and I’m very happy with the produc
This is my 2nd USB splitter. It’s ideal for adding portable hard drives to a laptop. Most laptops only come with one USB port and this device is extremely light and is able to deal with several USB portable drives at the same time. Obviously, it copes easily with less power intensive devices such as a USB mouse. A really useful device for laptop users who need to connect more than one USB device and ideal for travelling given its weight. I thoroughly recommend.
Does me proud whilst working from home. No problems at all and doesn’t take up much space
An essential tool when adding disc player etc to modern computer towers.
I am using it for 2 months now and it’s working as charm no issue and flawless performance without any lag
Great, affordable 3.0 usb solution for PS5. I have mine connected to the rear of the PS5 so that I can connect my PSVR and PS Camera to it and leave the other rear usb free for my external storage device.
Unlike some similar products, all the ports on this hub are USB 3.0. I tested them with a SATA II SSD which can transfer data up to 300MB/s and it achieved maximum speed on each of this hub’s ports.
Some similar devices contain a mix of USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports. USB 2.0 is 10x slower than USB 3.0 but is perfectly suitable for keyboards, mice, game controllers etc. For external USB 3.0 storage drives, the faster speed of USB 3.0 is a big advantage.
The speed of the dock is good, very similar speed compared to direct connection to a usb port on my motherboard, in my case I’m getting 405mb/s read and 370mb/s write via the hub using an external ssd drive. I’ve made the hub connection longer with a usb 3 amazon basics female to male cable so that it reaches to my desk. I did notice slow downs when using the hub if I connect it to a front usb port on my pc, but didn’t have the same problem when using the usb ports which are part of the motherboard on the back, so I think this is just my case having not great quality front usb ports. Overall very pleased, as long as it lasts a while. I didn’t notice any speed drops when using other devices at the same time as plugging in an external ssd to the hub, although this may happen if you run too many high power devices as a usb 3 port is usually limited to output 4.5w max.
The cord on it is extremely stiff, so it’s a bit awkward getting it to lie flat, but otherwise it’s fine, working away happily. Bonus points for having a slot on the end of the hub, which is great for those awkward shaped USB dongles!
very good value and is fully metal- looks and feels bombproof.
i`ve had no issues like plugs not fitting or being loose, connection is fine.
it loses a star because the way it`s packed the dongle/cable is in a plastic bag but the little adaptor plug is just loose in the box. mine disappeared under the sofa somewhere so please let my ineptitude instruct you 😀
Pro:
Turns one USB Into four USB slots.
Has an slot on the end for larger USB items.
Lightweight but sturdy.
Con:
Can cause interference with a USB audio jack.
Can cause interference with USB connected controllers if all other ports are in use.
It is serving me well for streaming even with the above cons.
When I was looking at new laptops as my old one was on its last legs I was a bit dismayed to discover that many new laptops only have limited USB ports – and I need several for working from home – foot pedal, mouse (even a wireless mouse needs a USA port) and a keyboard. Then there are the occasional peripherals – printer, saving device, downloading photos from a camera. This little device plugs into a port and it does not matter that my devices are all USB 2 and not USB 3 as they still fit and work, just at USB 2 speed. I am quite happy. Also, even though it hangs over the edge of the desk it has not fallen out or come loose. So very please I bought this.
This is an excellent hub for the price. Four port USB 3,0 hubs tend to be either cheap and nasty (often not working at all when bought, or falling to pieces), or unreasonably expensive. This one seems to have managed the trick. It’s very solidly built and reasonably priced.
Note that this hub is “bus powered”, that is, you can’t power it with an adapter, so you can only use it for four devices if they are low-power. For example, you could use it for mice and keyboards, and for a printer (which does not take power from the hub). You might also be able to put a single hard drive or USB 3.0 stick on it, but if you connected multiple drives, they would almost certainly not receive enough power and you would get “USB device not recognised” errors.
As with most laptops these days, the number of connection ports is limited to one per type. Fine if you have different devices that connect with different cables or better still wirelessly, but not so good if they are USB only.
This little widget will connect up to 4 USB 3.0 devices in one go, using the USB on your laptop. All devices fully powered and good to go.
Really pleased with the item. It’s good quality and proving to be durable so far.
Old Epson printer works great with this, along with Dell screen. Can charge Apple Watch at the same time and link in iPhone if I need to. All from one port.
Hope it’s longer term durability is as good as the short term so far!
This little hub has proved to be an excellent solution to my laptop’s lack of USB3 ports, and for very little cost. I had previously been using a D-link 4-in-1 hub connected via USB C, but WIndows 10 struggled to identify all chipset components and after several connect/disconnect attempts, would partially disable the hub with an error message.
A high-speed USB3-only hub was clearly needed so I gave this device a try. For the money I did not expect a lot – how wrong can you be? It is chinese made but sourced through a german company, and the design quality shows. It is compact with firmly fitting sockets arranged to allow a sensible distance between ports. The connecting cable is robust, the USB plug is nicely shrouded and it mates positively with the host machine.
Using mine to run an HD webcam, external sound adapter and a memory stick via a single USB C socket with no problems whatsoever. Windows readily detects the hub itself and any connected devices with no errors, and the hub runs cool. Note if using with an external HDD the hub will be limited to 900mA total current due to the capacity of the computer USB3 port – but for low power peripherals it is an extremely handy device.
My WiFi on my MacBook started behaving strangely when I connected this hub. In a million years I would not have figured it out but a quick network error search on the Interwebs pointed me to disconnecting any USB devices. As I reconnected them, the USB hub immediately interfered with my MacBook’s WiFi – full signal but scrambled so the router does not understand the requests at all.
I solved the problem by wrapping it in RF fabric – a small Faraday Cage basically.
Taught me about the perils of not knowing the specs of what you buy. Still using hub as it works well as a hub 🙂
I plugged in a 1tb and a 500gb hard drive. Unfortunately, they took out my WiFi connection. When I checked the instruction leaflet it does say that you can’t connect drives that total more than 900mA. I guess I did. I had to reboot my MacBook Pro to overcome the issue. When I plugged in 4 usb sticks everything was fine. No problem at all. Great speed. A word of caution: It says in the instructions: Plug and Play, Hot Swappable – That doesn’t appear to mean you can disconnect one of the memory sticks or whatever without doing the usual Eject device operation first. It simply means that you can disconnect one without having to disconnect them all, but in the usual way. I tried it. It took out my WiFi again. I made the mistake of thinking I could do anything with it. Electrical items always have limitations. I found them for this item.
