I wanted a light that would be on in the evening so that the family or visitors could see their way in. The PIR ones just didn’t seem to work well enough, particularly when reversing a car into the drive, or when you’ve almost walked to the house before the light comes on.
The big pluses for me are:
– this light is bright enough without being too dazzlingly bright and annoying the neighbours. It’s “warm” white.
– it is only 20w, so it’s not going to cost the earth if I leave it on for a few hours. But equally, I don’t want to leave it on all night.
– I can locate it where it works best and not be restricted to where it gets maximum sunshine.
So I’ve hooked this up through a time switch, and set the timeswitch to come on between 4pm and midnight. At 4pm the power comes on, and if it’s the middle of winter, so does the light, but if it’s still light outside, it doesn’t come on until it gets darker. The light stays on all evening, and then the timer switches it off at midnight, or whenever I had set the timer for.
It’s been working as planned for several months now, and the only time I’ve had to do anything to it was when the hour changed, or on those occasions when we knew we’d be out after midnight. And since the timer is in the garage that’s not a big deal.
So yes, I am really very pleased with how it’s working. Five stars.
Disappointed and would like to hear from the supplier if it was possible to return for another since it’s the second light I have bought ?
This light throws out a very bright light indeed. The range is quite far. It’s a really good light. I would recommend it to anybody wanting to light up their garden or outside their house really for anything. The cost was good and the quality is good
Fed up buying bulbs fpr old dusk to dawn light which tbh always had a crappy yellow light look tp it . This light however is a lot sharper and clear white light .Only thing i dont like is the bracket that fits behind it …but not really a deal breaker cause light is way better and is a soild unit plus half the price of a bulk head dawn to dusk uni
Such a small light and yet a good bright soft light. Easy to fit and works really well giving off a soft but bright light. Excellent bit of kit, does the job well.
This unit works well, very bright and compact. I was initially sceptical due to the low price point, but this has over-delivered so far. Easy to install, though a good electrician could fit it in 15mins if you are not great with DIY. Have ordered a more powerful version for my back garden to deter the foxes! Would definitely recommend.
Thought I was buying a sensored light but this is dusk till dawn it is very bright. Im saying its easy to fit but I never done it lol. Great for the price.
Easy to install, nice and bright. No problems after 3 months of use. The built in sensor means you don’t need an ‘external’ sensor to install as well. The light is only adjustable ‘up and down’ – we had to buy an extra bracket for lateral adjustment as we wanted it pointing up the drive as well.
drive works on the same principles as a street light switches on at dusk goes off at dawn job done 100% Alot safer to passage through the foot path and cul – de – sac at night.
I like this light which I installed above my garage door,it lights up the whole driveway up to road.the light was easy to install and very neat when finished would definitely recommend it.
So far so good. Had for a month now and it does indeed switch on at dusk and go off at dawn so no messing about with timers or wasting electricity unnecessarily.
