I bought this because I liked my Xbox one so much. The fit isn’t quite as good on these as the controller design necessitates a little additional clip on dongle on the bottom to charge. Still a recommended unit to keep your controllers charged.
Works great, love the light that shows the battery percentage of the controllers
My daughter is happy with this product, as she has a white PS4. It keeps the controller tidy.
Great charger for my controllers. Very Happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this charging dock.
Fast delivery and work perfectly. I’ve ordered from this seller before and always received an excellent service. I use these dongles with 2 different charging units and they work very well.
Really nice, is plastic and charges both remotes well. Reduces the amount of wires as only uses one. The light feature at the front really nice as tells you when the remote is done charging and I recommend buying it.
Mine only came with one USB dongle but it’s okay because I only have one control; it’s very good, you can use your control even while it’s on charge.
This docking station comes with two low profile adapters which attach quite snugly to your controllers’ charging ports, after which you simply plop them down on the dock to start charging. I wish there was a way to adjust the charging LEDs, but for the price this charging dock works perfectly and looks pretty neat with its simple and sleek design.
It’s now 2021 and I’m still using it to this day. I always have it charging or I’ll leave the ps4 on rest mode to charge the controllers. I came back to buy and extra dongle/attachment as my dog has chewed one and was surprised to see so many negative reviews. I literally haven’t had a single problem with it.
Does the job. I have a Venom charge station for my Xbox One and it has been ideal although it uses a different mechanism to connect – the Xbox one has a battery pack with contacts on it, the Playstation one has a connector that fits into the micro USB port. Needed some form of mechanism to charge after I bought my PS4 Pro.
Bought this because I couldn’t find the same one I use for my other PS4, but it seems like it will do the job as my other Venom charge station has never had any issues.
Well built, decent value and saves having to keep charging controllers with a micro USB cable.
I bought this charging dock a while ago but just forgot to leave a review, I am very pleased with the quality of the product and have not had any problem with it so far. The design of the dock matches very well with the original PS4 as it even has the 2 tone finish. I have the PS4 Pro however, but still it looks very nice and works perfectly! I also bought the Xbox 360 & Xbox One versions of this dock and they both are just as amazing as this one. I only wish that there was a version of this exact dock for PS3 controllers so my set-up was more uniform, but that’s just me and my OCD Over all I am very happy with the 3 Venom products I have purchased and would recommend to any gamer.
Easily the best dock I’ve had once a few mods have been made. Understand you may not want to make any modes but I feel as its such a cheap dock it’s worth it and makes it so much better!!
Firstly use a small amount of Blu tac between the pad and adaptor to firmly stick it in place to prevent them coming off so easily.
Secondly the annoying led. Carefully peel off the rubber feet. Don’t worry if the adhesive doesn’t peel off you can reattach with glue or double side adhesive later. Undo the 4 P00 (+) screws to remove the bottom casing. You can clearly see the led and wire now, carefully cut the two outside wires leading to the led to break the circuit.
Thirdly at this point if required you can add additional weights to the base for added grip and overall quality feel.
Replace the bottom cover and screws and stick the feet back in place.
You now have a robust charging Dock where the controllers omit the usual orange light only when charging.
I have 4 of these and the have all worked perfectly for over two years now.
Fabulous, great value for 12 quid, the little plug ins aren’t obtrusive and don’t add any weight. The pads can then just be placed in the dock easily….no fiddling. At first in stand by (rest mode) it only one showed charging but after a few seconds they both went red (indicating charge).
Both charged with no delay when PS4 is on, glad I bought this….a tenner less than the official one and matches my white pro. And if the the little charge clips break or get lost nice to know they are only a fiver for 2. This is an ideal solution to charge 2 pads at once as I have an external HDD and the wireless dongle for the platinum headset, beats having a big trailing wire and having to plug them in all the time.
So far very pleased with these! I’ve bought a cheaper version in the past which felt very cheap and didn’t last long so I was worried these would be the same.
Fortunately they are not and are performing very well! It feels a lot more sturdy. It lights up red when charging and goes blue when it’s done (which doesn’t take long). It’s fantastic to have both controllers ready to go at a moments notice and not have to faff about with cables. Highly recommend.
Great product for 2 controllers, looks good and charges well, only issue is that it only comes with 2 clips for the controllers, so for people that have more than 2 controllers this could be an issue. As I have three controllers i have to unclip and plug the controllers in each time I swap over, but only a minor issue. If it were possible to buy the clips separate, this review would go to 5*
After struggling for a couple of years with a dock upon which you had to drop the controllers directly onto the little ports (which was both fiddly to do and caused a lot of scratching around the controller ports) this is something of a joyful revelation.
Simply plug the lead into any USB wall adaptor (not supplied) and connect to the dock. Then attach the connectors to the controller port (they slide on and sit unobtrusively) and play as normal.
When finished you can simply place the controllers onto the dock and the connectors easily slot into place. No more scratched ports!
There are even two lights at the front which will show Blue for charged and red for charging.
This is a great little charging dock, it’s well thought out and does its job very well. Very good value for money.
These are so brilliant. Stop me from.leaving the controllers everywhere as they actually have a place now, doesn’t take up much room and you just have to place them back on the holder gently to resume charging, no effort at all, and the charger things you plug into the actual controller are also small, not bulky or heavy. Overall really pleased! Oh only thing is I wish the cable connecting the charger to the mains was either longer, or just with a cable you can unplug and therefore use your own longer cable. However still giving it 5 stars because this was a brief thought when I first opened it, but since setting it up and using it, it hasn’t been an issue (but maybe for some)
For something that is relatively cheap when compared to similar products, this is actually amazing. I have been using this docking station for my PS4 for around a year now and it has to be the best accessory I’ve bought for my console. Not only can you charge both controllers at the same time but it can be easily done by just putting the charging slot into the port of the controller and resting it on the docking station. It’s very simple to use and for this price, it’s a bargain!
My controllers remained charged and if one dies when I’m playing, I just swap it with the other. I highly recommend it as I’ve not had any problems with it whatsoever.
bought this about a year ago, it looks really great and it still works! I love it if you remember to put your controllers here when you’re not using them then you will always have fully charged controllers. The only downside I would say is that the pieces you insert into the controller feel slightly flimsy and although they don’t bother me, I have had people using my controllers want to take them out as they feel “uncomfortable” whilst holding the controller, they don’t bother me but I guess it just depends on the way you hold the controller.
Woohoo! A Venom accessory that didn’t break the bank?!
My only previous experience with similar products was a XBOX 360 battery and charging station pack. Me and my friends loved it. So when I got my PS4 I was looking for a similar solution on charging. Comparing the prices or original dock station by Sony and some other brands I realised that the majority does rely on you charging the controller by connecting the controllers USB port with the appropriate port on the dock. Meaning you can easily miss the first try on resting your controller on it. Now some might argue that the original Sony dock barely has that problem, but I’ve used that one as well. So comparing the original dock with this means that you take in account not only the brand but also the price, the usability and comfort. These beat the original by a mile!
Not only you can forget that there is even a slight chance to break off the USB connector while putting to charge, these NFC dongles are not really moved whilst playing, putting the controller aside, putting on the stand, etc. Just the experience one would expect from a wireless charge on the controller.
Yes, one little thing that I personally don’t like is the very bright LED lights on the dock. Could’ve been more matte or something, but that is the only minus I have so far.
At this price for this usability I dare some other manufacturer to beat them.
This docking station is quite small and having got a similar one for the Xbox360 decided a Venom one for PS4 the way forward.
I do sometimes find it does not appear to be charging as the controllers have to sit just right on the stand, but the plug in rechargeable points do not get in the way and I find it much easier than trying to charge using the cable.
the PS4 does need to be in standby mode for them to charge, but I find the controllers are always then ready for use.
Not tried any other docking stations but would not hesitate to recommend this one.
I bought this product as my Dual Shock 4’s (all 3 of them), were starting to get damaged from being plugged in to charge up. The micro usb port on all of them was getting wobbly, and sometimes they weren’t charging unless the wire was in exactly the right place. This is an issue as the battery on them lasts a very short time compared to the dual shock 3 from the PS3, so they are plugged in and out frequently causing damage over a much shorter time.
They arrived well packaged and looked very smart when unpacked. The design of the base unit is close to that of the PS4 itself so it looks good next to the console. The unit is very simple to set up, just plug the USB lead into a spare USB port either on the PS4 itself or you can use a spare phone wall charger (I have a power block with USB ports on and it works fine with that too). The little attachments for the controllers goes in the micro USB and sits nice and tight with no moving about.
The controllers seem to charge at the same rate as just using a normal lead and don’t appear to discharge any quicker. The controllers don’t feel any different in your hand and the weight gain is negligible, I was worried that my fingers would get caught on the extra piece on the back of the controller, luckily it is so small that it is not an issue as it is practically unnoticeable.
Being able to just drop the controller onto the base unit after a session playing the latest hit game when you suddenly realise you have been playing for far too long and have to be up for work in far too short a time is great. Also not having to take a lead out makes it far simpler for my 6 year old to grab a controller and play a bit of Minecraft when I am trying to convince the baby that it is bed time.
This unit is great so we have bought a second one so all our controllers are always charged ready for family gaming sessions on rainy weekends.
PROS
-Avoid damage to ports on controllers
-Unit looks good
-Much tidier than having USB cables everywhere
CONS
-Doesn’t fit with rubber controller skins
-The blue lights that are permanently on are very brigh
I don’t usually buy non-Sony accessories as they are usually inferior and I’m a Sony brand man through and through. However, having had the Sony dual charger and struggling with trying to get the controllers on it to charge them I decided to give this a whirl.
Other reviews have stated correctly that you put the USB dongle onto the controller which you don’t notice whilst playing, and this enables a much easier way to just put the controller on the charger to charge. First time, every time!
It’s so much better in practice than the Sony version I wish I’d bought this ages ago.
Build-wise, it’s good enough. Not as good as Sonys as you’d probably expect but overall it’s way superior in operation and for the price you can’t go wrong.
The only drawback for me is that the USB cable is quite short and with the PS4 USB outlets at the front makes an ugly setup, so you really need a USB wall plug (similar to the Apple ones) to plug it into.
Nice charging lights at the front to indicate which controller is being charged.
Despite the charger not being quite as well built as the Sony, I’m still giving this 5 stars as you hardly notice it and it does a brilliant job.
For the price this is very good. I wanted something that did not involve having to plug the micro USB lead into it all the time as over time it wears out the plug and you have to get a new controller. However the reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the dongle is very loose in the slop and when my children were playing Minecraft it fell out and was lost. Managed to find it so I have now taped them to the controller but now it has trouble sliding into the charging slot.
