I gave this to my little one when she was just sitting, the corners are quite sharp and she bumped her head quite a lot of it, but now she’s older it’s a great toy!

We bought this for our little nephew who is about to turn 1 year old. He is really starting to explore the world around him more (read putting things in his mouth) so we wanted to give him something that was bright, colourful and would stand up against his ways.
The toy arrived in a simple cardboard box, with the colourful block packed inside the actual toy in a clear plastic bag. Admittedly the wood has a bit of an off smell when I first unboxed it, nothing too concerning just a little bit unpleasant. So we gave everything a good wipe down with a microfibre cloth with some dish soap and then let it air out for 24 hrs which did the trick.
Out nephew seemed very pleased with the toy, the blocks are sturdy and big enough so there is no risk of him swallowing them accidentally. According to his parents he has enjoyed many hours playing with it now, so I would say it is a hit.

This is a very sturdy toy as it has taken more than a few hits and bangs as being tossed around.
He loves playing with the different shapes and putting them through the holes and loves to pull on the elastic bands on the sides

I thought it was a bit small but it is very good quality and good value for money.
I have seen and ordered these in plastic, but I really do think we should all be moving away from plastic. Lovely to see one of these in wood. This comes with 8 shapes, each shape has a set of beads somewhere in the middle so you get an extra sensory experience during play. The rattle is subtle so not annoying to hear in the background. The shapes are all painted a different colour, so you can teach shape and colour. Increasing language development. They can be slotted into the holes for shape recognition, like a vertical puzzle or poked through the variety of strings. The bands come in two versions, one will be harder to push the shapes through than the other and this will strengthen little hands for life skills to come – like writing, feeding themselves.
You need big motor skills first, then small motor skills …
The wooden edges are rounded and the item is not just glued, there are a couple of screws on each corner, to use a technical term they have been countersunk, so they are not sticking out in anyway. I really like this toy. Much better than the plastic versions, try to go for the wooden version if you can afford it!

The shape sorter comes in a very nicely designed box that makes it a perfect gift for Christmas and due to its shape, it will be easy to wrap up as well.
I have seen shape sorters before but this one is the first wooden one that I got and I think it’s fabulous as I know it will last for a very long time or even for generations because it will not be easy to break.
The sorter has smooth edges with no splinters, so you don’t need to worry about that and the blocks are painted with non-toxic water paint which is free from BPA or harmful substances, so you don’t have to worry that your child will get sick if it will take the blocks to its mouth. The backs are a pretty good size too, so no need to worry about choking hazards and it will be easy for a child to hold the blocks with their mall hands.

This would make a great gift for a toddler who would love the bright colours. Both the box and the shapes are very well made from wood and the box has elasticated sides to retrieve the shapes once they have been pushed through the correct holes. Seems to be built to last.

This is a nice example of this type of toy. The wood is smooth, neat and with no rough edges. The elastic seems strong and isn’t over-tight, which gives durability against snapping. And it comes in a box that makes a great gift box. It’s a ‘cut above’ in terms of quality in my view, and that’s nice. But I do think the price is nonetheless a bit steep for what it is.

I got this for my godson. It is a nice and simple toy that would help him to identify shapes and colours. Each shape is smooth and I like the rattling sound of it. You simply can’t go wrong with a wooden toy set. This shape sorter toy is a solid build with nice smooth edges, and the elastic springs make a satisfying soft recoil when passing through the shapes. It’s also great with other toys and the blocks can be stacked upon each other.
