This box is nice and sturdy and smart looking. It arrived promptly but the outer packaging was rather damaged, letting parts of the box poke through. This is a gift so the damaged packaging is rather disappointing.
Nicely built, packaging needs to be improved to avoid the pointy bits poking through the box, which is how this one arrived upon delivery. Luckily the item was not damaged.

Not sure if the birds will like it – but it looks good. Seems to be sturdy enough. The front door “fixing” is a little disappointing. I’m sure they could have done better. I need to improve this with my own design.
I brought three of these. Mainly because I liked the idea of them being made of bamboo. The new sustainable materials.
Also they were half price.
I have always enjoyed caring for wild birds. With winter feeding and nest boxes. The style and size of the boxes appeals to many different types of British birds. Especially when I can adapt the box by removing the front panel. It has taken the birds six weeks to get used the boxes. But I’m happy to say, all three boxes now have sparrows nesting in them.
Have had two consecutive seasons of Robins nesting in a shed which has a necessarily slightly open window – and one season nesting in a back kitchen wall that a 2 1/2 inch waste pipe had been removed from and not filled in. Not ideal. This box can be used as an ‘open’ box nest (recommended for robins) by leaving the top part removed. However this allows more rain into the nest. To minimise this, decided to leave the top part attached and enlarge the hole to 2 3/8 inches as i know (from experience-above) robins find that size just about right. Attached an small metal ‘stay’ at the bottom of the box (so is held by 2 screws now, one top and one bottom) just in case it would sway in the hurricane type winds we’ve been getting the last few years ! Pity the manufacturers didn’t think of doing this ? Anyway, it’s nice and secure now, looks attractive compared to some other boxes, and is really well made. I’m sure the robins will like it too 🙂
Very well made box ,looks good I have used a clear varnish on the external of mine but its supposed to be water proof. Easy open front to allow for cleaning recommended
I was looking for an alternative to the RSPB bird boxes I have at home and this really fits the bill. It’s well made and looks great, and has all the benefits of being made of bamboo.
It’s now mounted on a tree in my brother’s garden and he is delighted with it. Let’s hope the birdies are equally pleased with it and someone chooses it as the place to raise a brood or two.
Because of the way it mounts, it can swing around a bit. Might have been better just flat backed or with a couple of pre-drilled holes in the back so you could fix it more firmly
Well made, looks lovely, easy to put up and I love the simple ingenious way that the front is secure yet can be removed with ease when necessary for cleaning. Glad I bought it.
It looked nice to give as a present but the screws holding the front cover weren’t long enough and kept falling out. I wrapped it up and gave it as a present anyway.
I imagine this can be painted but I personally prefer this colour and texture. Thrilled with the purchase and my mum is too. Well worth the money!
