This is the 6.3″ size strainer/sieve & is perfect for any regular saucepan or wok. I’ve included a photo of it alongside a cola can for size-comparison (I thought that I’d have found that useful when I was looking for the best size for me).
It’s really well made from stainless steel & has no sharp edges or loose wire connections; the solder is perfect. The unvarnished wooden handle is extremely secure & the entire handle length is perfect, so you won’t get your fingers burned whilst fishing-out your chips from a ‘million’ degree pan of oilalways a bonus!
It has been through the dishwasher several times now, and has come out the other side without any signs of damage, rust, nor a splintered wooden handle! Though of course, the dishwasher can be a bit mean to wood over time.
I’ve included photographs of close-up shots so that you can take a good look at the solder points. I’ve also included a photo of the sieve on my kitchen utensil rack (can you spot it), just so that you can get a better idea about it’s size).
It’s a great value & well-made sieve; I did look at a lot of them here on Amazon & other stores & chose this one because it’s a really good price & looked to be well-madehad plenty of really good Reviews too.

This is very well made and sturdy.Its super useful in the kitchen and my wife its so proud of it.
It has wooden handle so its not getting hot too quick and its easy to hold as well.Easy to wash,we only hand wash it so not sure about the dishwasher.
I needed a big strainer for straining vegetables in the kitchen of my restaurant and this ticks all the boxes. The size of the wire bowl, especially the depth, allows the chef to drain a large amount of vegetables at one go. The spider web pattern of the bowl allows the chef to quickly drain the water off the vegetables. The handle is made up of two parts, the wooden part is for comfortable and safe holding and the stainless steel part is strong and sturdy. The handle is long to keep heat away from the chefs hand. The hanging loop is designed for easy storage. No complaints from the chef.
This is a nice skimmer – it does the job and it feels like a good addition to my shelf of utensils. It will will be great for pasta and dumplings. It seems to be well made and have not seen any rust yet. Nice size, too.
A lot larger than expected. The handle is smooth and comfortable to grip. The actual strainer dies kit feel the greatest of quality so doubt it will survive the dishwasher without getting rust. Aside from that it us very functional.

Have been using it for a few times, no problems at all. Just before using for the first time, give it a good wash in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.

I found it to be good quality and has a nice robustness to it. It does what i need it to do which is generally to scope my fried food out and it straining it. It very easy to hold and use with a long handle so you can even use it from a distance. Perfect for my nedes and very happy with it. Recommended.

We eat a lot of pasta and have for some time been using a pot with a lid that allows the water to be poured out. However it is pretty heavy and the steam always catches your hands. This strainer is much easier – the long handle means your hands are well away from the boiling water (or worse, hot fat in the fryer) and the wooden handle stays cool in use.
Despite the length of the handle it’s sturdy enough to lift a pan full of pasta without bending. The gaps between the metal are narrow enough to make it equally useful for peas and chopped carrots. It’s also great for tempura prawns and other small items of battered food in the deep fat fryer.
I wouldn’t put it in the dishwasher due to the wooden handle and that it seems to be glued to the metal. However it’s come up nice and clean after a soak in the sink and hangs up from a hook in the handle. A really useful tool in the kitchen.
I like this strainer, it is made of good material and has a long wooden handle which does not get hot during use. I have used it for fried potatoes for vegetables and I can say that it is fantastic, it helps to remove excess oil or water from cooked foods. The bowl is made of stainless steel material that has been resistant to the number of times I have used it and even washed it very easily by hand, but it can also be put in the dishwasher. There are different sizes that you can choose from and the price is reasonable. I would recommend it.

If you regularly have pasta then you will be familar with one of these, we used to use a colander but this is much better due to its long handle meaning I won’t get burnt.
I like the handle and there is a hole so you can hang up when not in use.
This is dishwasher safe, but unsure how long the wooden handle will last.
Overall I’d recommend this strainer, as it saves my fingers getting burnt!
Handy kitchen utensil. The handle is very long so you can comfortably hold this over a sink to drain and not be caught by steam. The sizing is good but this does seem to be the biggest size available so not ideal for large pans to drai
Gifted to my mum who is always in the kitchen. This will help strain meat, veg, noodles and so on. Well made and should do the job for a while.
This is a well made, functional and reliable pasta strainer. Metal is good, and not too wide net so can be used for loads of things, vegetables, pasta, meatballs, etc. Comes in a variety of sizes, I got the largest. Wooden handle is nice, looks good and really ergonomic. Good addition to any kitchen, really good value and reliable product, can’t think of any downsides.
I already had the smaller version of this, they are great for scooping veg or pasta out of boiling water, especially when you don’t want to drain all the water away down the sink. Excellent quality and nice and sturdy
AEX Straine/Skimmer ladle: Great strainer for any number of dishes. I chose the 7″, which is just about the right size for pasta, eggs, potatoes and fries etc. The larger size slots ensure good drainage and the ladle is deep enough to get into a large pan and fish-out foods easily.
It seems very strong, the longer length handle keeps your hands away from hot water/steam/fat but it’s still easily controllable and the wooden element makes it comfortable to hold. My only observation would be that the wooden section appears to be glued over the metal rather than riveted, so requires a little care when washing and drying to prevent it separating over time. Fair price at 9.99 for a good kitchen tool.
Im always cooking Pasta or Chinese foods so this is hgetting put to the test daily. It cleans back to new every time. Strong and study with every large scoop of heavy pasta and drains perfect when making battered chinese fried food. Very happy with this.
This frying strainer is excellent and very useful equipment to have.
Not only can you can cook your fried chickens but also vegetables.
I have even used it to blanch veg for freezing.

It is dependable and sturdy, constructed using premium materials. It is made to handle heat, thus I don’t believe it will easily split or rust for a very long time.
Pots and pans won’t be scratched by the polished, smooth finish. simple to wash by hand or in the dishwasher.

This is a good quality strainer with a sufficiently long handle to ensure you can keep your hands clear of splashes from hot water if you choose to use this to empty the contents of your pan into. It is strong enough to hold pasta so decanted and also allows sufficient dexterity for you to scoop things directly from a pan of water or oil to then drain separately. The wooden handle means this should ideally be hand washed, but that isn’t a chore.
I am so glad I got this strainer, it is brilliant, the wooden handle is long so great to use on a cooker, the head is deep and the circumference is large, so you can take out everything in one go, the only down issue is that you will need a pan with a big opening, as this won’t go into smaller pans as the head is so large.
I examined this strainer for any flaws and could not see any, its head is stainless steel and in my view a great item, but in this size, it may not be practical for everyone, so do be careful if you do wish to buy this size, I recommend a smaller one from this maker, I am looking to see if I can get them all in different sizes. The price at the time of this review was under 12 UK Sterling for this large one, some of the smaller ones are cheaper, I am impressed with this strainer and am able to give it five stars.
Very shiny and smooth stainless steel strainer.
Well put together and is very versatile.
So far I’ve used it for straining vegetables and pasta but expect to shake off oil from fried foods too.
The wooden handle is very slim and is well fixed to the metalwork.
Overall the skimmer is very light to use, not to big for storage and looks good too.
This strainer comes in a choice of sizes (5.5 inch, 6.3 inch, 7 inch or 7.9 inch). At the time the 5.5 inch was out of stock, so I chose the 6.3 inch.
The strainer is made from stainless steel, but it has a wooden handle which prevents heat transfer. The handle has a slot enabling you to hang the strainer up if you wish. The basket measures 15 cms in diameter approximately.
Opinion:
I have wanted one of these since I saw the contestants on Masterchef using them. It is fantastic and I wish I had got one ages ago. I have used it in my deep fat fryer, and it’s perfect for removing chips, tempura prawns/cauliflower etc. It not only removes the items, but helps lowering them into the hot fat. With the wooden handle there is no transfer of heat, and with the handle being nice and long, there is no chance of hot fat burning you.
I have also used it in my large saucepan for removing and draining off pasta, and I am sure it would work equally well for spaghetti. It’s also great for getting cooked vegetables out of my Ninja Foodi.
This will now most likely be one of my most used kitchen items, and I definitely recommend it. 5 *
The skimmer ladle is excellent for frying. Bought the largest size which makes life alot easier. Good quality and is easy to clean. The stick makes it safer to fry.
This is good quality, well made and very good at doing what it’s designed for.
It’s great for frying items and the design allows the oil to drain away freely, quickly.
The wooden handle means it needs hand washing and can’t be soaked in water.
