Bought two different brand HDMI to VGA adapters, on the off chance that one was not compatible. Both worked flawlessly. This one requires an HDMI cable from the transmitting device, and having a male VGA, plugs directly in to the screen/device receiving the signal.
Image quality is fine, tested at 1080 and works, but being used daily at 1600×1050 resolution.
Sound output over 3.5mm jack does work in my use case, but only minimal testing has been done as it’s not needed currently.
Build quality is adequate.
I would have little doubt recommending this product. The only thing to consider is where in the setup the adapter is best positioned for you. This one sits near the screen, the other sits next to whatever is sending the signal.
This thing actually works. On first connection it didn’t. But when I realized it requires a 5v micro phone charger connection it started to work. Had to figure that out coz doesn’t come with instructions. Works great. To use as extra monitor for cctv
great kit small and compact bought it to work with my pi400 connects to your vga monitor and has a hdmi in put also has a 3.5mm jack which i connect my speaker and headphones too
Very simple to use and solved a problem for me at work where we have a new laptop with hdmi but an old projetor with VGA. The added 3.5mm port is great to add a set of speakers for sound.
Bought two of these, one for a MAC laptop and one for a Windows laptop and worked brilliantly just powered from the hDMI cable. I used the audio connection in one case and the audio volume seemed low, but could have been the monitor or possibly needing external power (via the microusb connector) which I didn’t try. Just keeping audio on the laptap was fine anyway. This allowed me to reuse older monitors I already had , that lacked an HDMI input, so I’d recommend.
I used this to connect a second 24 inch monitor (Fujitsu) to my laptop (HDMI > VGA). After many failed attempts this worked first time, no more wasted time and no reconfigs. Very happy.
Very happy with this. My new laptop only has a USB-C connector for external video. My old monitor only has VGA input. With this little gadget and USB-c to HDMI converter I am now able to use my existing old monitor with my new laptop. It even has a headphone socket for the audio channel (VGA is video only) and works flawlessly.
Works excellent! Where I wasn’t able to before with passive adapters, I can now get my laptop, Chromecast, and Xbox to connect to my projector with zero issues. You just need to make sure you’ve got micro USB power going to it and you’re good to go!
I needed a convertor to make an old VGA monitor work with an HDMI input. This adaptor worked a treat. Pkudded if in and I am up and running. A new lease of life for my old VGA monitor.
Impressed with how easy it was to set up, it worked instantly out of the box, both the video and audio connector. I did not need to use a micro USB cable, and when I tried it did not improve the picture quality.
