I am new to 3D printing so was delighted with my first finished project. Now I have only used THIS resin so cannot comment on any other type or brand, but with my result I will use this type again.
Nice viscosity and does produce great details. Had to add 120 grams of siraya tech tenacious to make it useable for minis otherwise they’d snap far too easily. Quite a strong odor compared to some other resins I’ve used as well.
Great price and easy to print with, I have since moved on to the abs like resin from the same brand which I prefer as this is a little brittle compared but still a good cheap resi
im Happy it came on time and as exspected it’s my first time using something other than brands from elegoo but if it prints as exspected im good,iv put on file now so will know soon but happy with item and delivery on time ,thanks seller and amazon ,Happy customer agai
having used Elegoo standard grey for 3 years plus and had great results, tried Elegoo clear and had numerous failures, and only one sucsess . . tried all sorts of profiles and lift speeds . . . so purchased this Anycubic clear, that I have used previously and used my old profile . . printed well no failures with same machine!
Little tip do not UV cure this resin , leave not in direct sunlight for 48hrs then clear spray, perfectly clear glass like results.
After testing different resins, this brand and colour seems to be the most reliable for me. Printing on a Mars Pro and Saturn, both printing flawlessly. This particular resin does seem to smell more chemically, but using a purifier inside the printer and a ventilator mask when working with the resin helps minimise any effects.
TL;DR – it’s fine if you’re on a budget and it’s fine for bulk-printing things you don’t care too much about or big solid items (I’m making some slimes for my kid and figuring out new settings and programs for my 3D printer, so I bought this expecting to waste some on trial and error)
I definitely second what some folks say about how much cleaning is required. At first I thought it was normal but having used a friend’s resin for a run, this one’s nuts. It’s not the end of the world or anything, but cleanup is definitely a thing. A tip though – you can remove a lot of the excess resin by soaping it up and then wiping it off with a tissue or cloth, suds and all, THEN clean with alcohol, this will ease the burden on your cleaning product just make sure you wash your hands properly because this stuff burns like hell if you get it on more sensitive skin, worse than any other UV resin I’ve used.
Aside from that, eh, it’s fine. I’ve printed a tonne of stuff with no complaints, and some with issues that’s probably more down to human error. It does indeed have some issues with sticking to the vat and it punishes you if you don’t stay on top of cleaning but it’s not terrible. I’ve not had any issues with how brittle it is, and I use it for minis, but mine are all still fairly fresh, so the review might change when they’re older, lol.
We really like this see through resin, it cures much better than other coloured resin because the light can reach through to the middle and out the other side. We find other resin that is completely coloured never sets fully but this one is brill
First impression:
The resin comes well protected in a cardboard box and a plastic protective jacket inside. The bottle is dark plastic and as with all UV resins, is light proof and a tough bottle.
I am using this resin with an ANYCUBIC Photon Mono 4K printer. It pours well into the printer tray and I used the printer in the garage and left it to get on with its process overnight. I wore a respirator and mask and although the odour is not great, I minimised my exposure as much as possible. You need to make sure that you don’t get the resin on your skin and I was fastidious in that regard, and all the utensils got a good clean up afterwards and blast of UV.
What I liked:
The resin works well with the 4k Mono printer as you would expect and produces hard and durable models with fine detail.
After and IPA wash I cured the prints with UV and the resin can be sanded easily, and support struts break away well with side cutters.
I have had some of the prints both painted and in raw for a while now and the resin seems as firm as day one with no creep in the detail or structure of the larger pieces.
Cleaning is never the best part of the printing process but the resin cleaned off the printer tray and build plate well. I filtered the excess back into the bottle and resealed it. I am going to try and light cure my IPA residue to clean this up further.
Anything I didn’t like so much:
Nothing specific to this resin.
Conclusion:
This resin gives great results and as someone relatively new to 3d printing I has happy to use the product recommended for the printer with my first forays. I would happily buy the resin again and perhaps try out some other colours as needed. I am just waiting for some cooler weather to keep on printing.
Thanks for taking the time to read my review, I hope you found it helpful.
This resin is one of the best for its price category smell is standard as most but really good quality on my 4K and 2k machines good stiffness and comes out really clean with the recommended settings. I use 49 second burn ins and 5 second layers
I used the grey and mostly the clear resin (about 40+ liters) with different printers like elegoo M2P, Saturn & Epax E10 (2.5sec) and the print quality is good. All the failed prints were my fault when the support failed or old fep, cold environment (an air heater can make miracle really) This is my go to resin because it is the cheapest (unfortunately not here on A.) and mixing well with siraya blu clear v2 if I need a stronger piece.
The color is definitely yellow (more uv/sun = more yellow) but I don’t care the color.
Extremely yellowed (moreso than other ‘clear’ resins i’ve seen) but also comparatively cheap. If you’re printing masters for mould making, a model intended to be painted, or something else where appearance is irrelevant, I would HIGHLY recommend.
Getting good prints ,that happy with for hobby collection needs. With LCD printers still going strong , hope to get my moneys worth . So far no problems. Happy with this product.
For a first time user of resin i went with the Anycubic brand as it was so highly recommend and i have to say i was not disappointed the print quality speaks for itself in my image above flawless results and quick printing time due to dialed in settings. Support clean up was a breeze also came off really easy and left very minimal residue and nubs to cut off so all in all i was very happy and this resin made my first experience fantastic as for the smell once i opened the bottle i noticed the smell was strong but only for a short period of time but while the machine was running the smell was very minimal .
would i order again yes infact i wish i ordered more than the 500ml bottle
highly recommend 100%
I’ve had my resin printer (Anycubic Photon) for nearly a year now..and results have been mixed. I usual buy Elgegoo as had great results from the get go using that. Anycubic Resin (for me) proved to be a bit more problematic, but i have learned that print settings (exposure times/plate levelling/FEP tensioning) are all instrumental in getting great results. Once done, this stuff is amazing. The detail from your prints is sublime.. (see my pics).. It’s a little smelly to use and make sure you dont get it on skin as it can cause severe irritation. I’d say once your settings are “dialled in” on your slicer program, you can look forward to great results with this resin. Price break is good and comes supplied in good/secure packaging.
This resin prints really well. I had no issues with it sticking to the build plate.
Even on my Sonic Mini which is only HD resolution it could show off great details within the models.
This was the first resin i used so my first few prints were a little over exposed but still looked good.
On a Phrozen Sonic mini I was printing at 0.05mm layer height at 2.3s per layer with 5 base layers. Although not aimed at a mono screen it worked really well and holds it’s own against Phrozen’s own resin.
Odour wise it’s low, but you’ll still need to take all the precautions you’d normally take for resin.
I wouldn’t hesitate to but again.
If i found this on offer I’d buy some.
I bought this for use in an Anycubic Photon printer (original) which I mainly use to print miniatures and terrain for tabletop gaming. I’ve previously used Anycubic clear green and Elegoo clear red and white resins which have given pretty good results, although they’ve often seemed a little ‘soft’ on detail, however this resin produces much cleaner, sharper prints. Prints with this seem to be more brittle, almost crystal like, than the others but the detail is sharper (I’m comparing these after priming so they’re all the same colour), for most of my prints this isn’t an issue although I’d be careful with any delicate pieces.
Odour wise this is very low, but you’ll still need to take all the precautions you’d normally take for resin (gloves, ventilation, eye protection etc) and it’s very low viscosity, similar to milk so flows well.
Overall this is the first resin that’s made me realise that 3D printed miniatures can match metal miniatures for detail.
The settings that work best on my printer (others may be different) are:
5 base layers @ 70 seconds
10 seconds per layer
The werebear in the image is from Asgard Rising on MyMiniFactory.
There is no other budget resin like Anycubic black. It’s not as thick as some other brands so even in lower room temperature it prints perfectly fine.
Incredible details, easy to clean (I’m using also Anycubic wash and cure machine) and polish and you can use really thin support – it will still hold perfectly. Removing support under hot water is just effortless.
It holds citadel primer spray perfectly so also easy to paint.
I just wish they would be available in 5L bottles 😀
I’m using it for my etsy models and all customers are always amazed by the quality.
For Mars I’m using 11s exposure with 8x80s bottom.
This was the first bottle of resin I bought for my Anycubic Photon, which I had ordered elsewhere just before.
I found it relatively easy to get started, and was soon getting good results. As can be seen in the pictures, I primarily intend to print miniatures for games, such as Warhammer 40,000, to supplement my hobby but I have other plans.
The only difficulties I had, were purely inexperience and human error surrounding post-processing and as such were no fault of the resin itself. I could not find any issues that could be attributed directly to the resin.
One thing I heard prominent YouTubers discuss, was a noticeable smell from the resin during printing; I did not really notice any particularly strong smell, but I don’t know how much of that is down to me personally.
I recommend this product, and look forward to making use of it again in the near future.
Having reciently purchased a 3D printer and wash ‘n cure machines from AnyCubic, my bottle Grey resin was running low. I decided to try a different colour in their range and went for Blue. As I paint my models I print, I undercoat first with either a Black or White primer. Choosing a different colour to either of those allows me to see where I am too thick or places where I have missed.
Its a great resin that does what it says. Allows things to be printed in 3D and cures at 406nm wavelength.
This colour seems to print better than the green which comes with the printer. Had the usual errors in the beginning so here are some tips:
Use the Flint Reed method for zeroing the printer.
Use thin support rafts near edge of an object. This makes life easier removing them. Thicker rafts are OK when not touching print object.
Always shake the resin before pouring. Guessing I had a couple of failed prints for not doing this one.
Large flat areas that are not actually on the print bed will suffer pooling and distortion. This can be avoided by printing object at an angle or by putting a lot of supports on the flat area so it doesn’t sag and distort the print as much.
The scraper that comes with the printer is very soft and will get damaged trying to get these items off the print bed. Using an extended raft that is very thin will offer better grip during printing but also offer a weak point where you can get the scraper without damaging it as much. I currently keep that scraper for cleaning the tank and a raft of green which was a piece derived from a failed print was also a perfect scraper for lifting parts off the print bed.
Pricing is a bit steep for resin so I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Success rate using green was about 1 in 3 but with this black, I have had 5 out of 5 success so far today so really happy after having the printer now for only a week
Settings I used were:
Layer thickness 0.050
Normal Exposure 8
Off Time 1
Bottom Exposure Time 90
Bottom layers 3
Z Lift 6
Z Lift Speed 3
Z Retract Speed 3
Anti Alias 1
Not much change from standard. I could have increased anti alias but kept it at 1 as detail level is still excellent.
Overall really happy with this colour. It isn’t 100% opaque but objects come out looking really nice. I will certainly buy this one again although I will shop around for better prices. I got the printer direct from Anycube for way cheaper than Amazon and many other items have been price hiked up to 200% due to the lockdown.
Wow what to say?
It works for me! got the package in a timely fashion as always from amazon. well boxed and the resin separate.
Got it printing the test file (the .Photon one 😉 ) no worries.
Check out the Pic looks great. One thing is find some tutorials on YouTube for adding supports to models as you’ll need them on some prints.
The resin has got an odour but if you can put your printer somewhere out of the way its fine.
Would i buy again?
I think i’ll be trying the Plant based resin next.
Hopefully they’ll have a water washable out as well.
The resin is easy to use and the quality is great. However…the resin is not clear. On curing it turns yellow so don’t think you get a crystal clear resin.
Once I had dialled in my printer settings for this resin I found it to be a nice product to use. Some people complain about the smell but I didn’t really notice anything. I used the grey and the finished items have a very slightly translucent look to them but the quality of the prints is great. I will definitely be using this resin again.
I love the Anycubic resins as they are very simple tongues and get great results from. The prints with this resin from my Photon are fantastic my only disappointment is that the resin suffers from discolouration as soon as it’s printed. Having looked around this appears to be normal for clear resins from any manufacturer.
I am using this grey resin for making small scale parts for model making and I really recommend it. I find that it cures correctly with a nice dry and clean finish. I have tried both the grey and the transparent green. Both are pretty good. I have also tried the grey Elegoo resin which I really did not like. Parts I printed with the Elegoo resin in November are still sticky as I write this review in January.
I print the Anycubic grey with the same default settings which I print the Anucubic green and it just works for me.
Having purchased the Anycubic Photon as an absolute newbie to 3D printing I was incredibly surprised at how easily I got everything going out of the box.
My intentions were to mostly print terrain for Warhammer 40k, as well as experement with some 3d modelling myself. However, after a couple of prints I was amazed at the detail and quality of the prints considering the price!
If you’re purchasing one yourself make sure to watch loads of videos to educate yourself about how to get things set up correctly.
I would also recommend printing the test cube that comes bundled on the USB stick to ensure your next prints will turn out as well. Once you’ve got the test print perfect hop onto Thingiverse or get some STL files elsewhere and get printing!!!
I have had a Photon Printer for about a year now and from the start have been using various versions of the clear Anycubic resin. While I was getting good results, I always had to paint the minis to get details to show. I was looking for something slightly less time consuming and would allow my prints to be tabletop ready straight after the print. I found it in Anycubic Grey.
Details of minis post processing are sharp, with resin easily cleaned off using 99% isopropanol. Fluidity for this resin is good and the prints achieve a very high resolution.
This is the second bottle of Anycubic grey I have printed with and so far I have yet to get a failure on it.
There is very little odor with this resin, as opposed to other comparable resins, which is great when printing in a small space.
I’ve now printed this in transparent green, transparent orange and clear. All three of them come out perfectly with the same settings: 0.05mm layer height, 8 bottom layers at 50s and the rest on 10s exposure. I tend to cure this under water in a custom uv tank which makes it cure nice and fast.
I would heartily recommend NOT printing this inside the house due to fumes and the toxic nature of any resin. Keep this away from your cats and children. Always wear nitril gloves when handling this and make sure you don’t get it on your skin. That goes for ANY resin for your printer, not specific to this product only.
You can get this resin to be crystal clear if you add some form of varnish afterwards (certain acrylic floor polish, high gloss varnish or resin).
I’ve also mixed this with flexible resin to create a semi-flex which works really well.
Competitively priced and with a low odor, I don’t use any other brand with my 4 Photon machines.
The only settings you have to tinker with are the print settings in the slicer software depending which resin you are using. There are plenty of tutorials online for anyone new to resin printing.
I have now used – clear green, clear, white, grey and black. All with no issues.
I’ve been using Anycubic Green for 2 bottles now, as well as Anycubic Skin and Grey, and they’re all really good resins. I think the Grey is my favourite. The Green is the “control” with it churning out great prints when I was just starting with very little effort or knowledge on exposures or supporting/orienting miniatures properly. Now that I know what I’m doing, I find the Grey to be a better resin for minis…seems a bit less brittle, but generally the end result is about the same once it’s all painted. The attached photo shows a huge 15cm high Demon King by Artisan Guild, printed in parts in Anycubic Green. Every piece came out perfectly. It glued together well. I use Gorilla Gel Superglue which works great.
Everyone talks about the smell…well yeah…there is a smell, there’s no getting around that other than building a fume cupboard or filter system. The Green was the worst for that, but it wasn’t as bad as some people make out. Different people have different sensitivities to it, and for me it was ok. The Skin and the Grey are about the same…less smelly than the Green but still a smell to them. It shouldn’t stop you from using them. Every resin has some smell to it, it’s part of what they are. I have mine set up with some ducting that routes out through an open window, and an inline fan which pulls all the smell outside, and that gets rid of 95% of the problem. There’s a Thingiverse design for an adaptor to connect the rear exhaust to the ducting tube. So it printed its own solution! 🙂
This review is for the Black resin in 1000ml volume.
Firstly, the date on the bottle is the manufacturing date, NOT a use by date, some people reviewing this think it is a use by or expiry date, which is not true.
I have used this resin, in other colours as well as the black, and it prints great, is stronger than some and I suffer less failures with Anycubic resin compared with other brands I have tried.
Solids are important in resins, and this resin is high solids, some others out there are less solids, more solvents… Solvents evaporate and solvents do not make solid objects, solids do. So this resin in great value for money because you will print more items from the same volume of resin than some resins on the market.
Like all resins, you need to set your machine up properly, this includes leveling/tramming as well as exposures, if you do not understand this, watch some youtube videos which will explain it.
Also like all resins, you need to use different settings for different brands and even different colours by the same brand (remember, resins cure with light exposure, and different colours absorb different amounts of light – simple)
Anyway, this product is great, I have tried just about every other brand out there, and this one is reliable, repeatable, and good value for money.
Happy printing!
Been using AnyCubic’s resin for a couple of months now and would like to share my opinion.
The grey colour works really well and has a really nice colour and finish after curing.
I found 10-14 worked well for grey with higher exposure times of around 100 for the first layers
Already ordered more and more colours really greate to use and does not smell to strongly like other resins.
I have been printing using anycubics resin for a long time now, and I have found it to be able to cope with all of the prints I have done from parts as thin as 0.03 to solid items, when I first started printing with the photon I brought some cheaper resin to try to save a few `s but i never had the same quality of print. The anycubic resins have allowed me to print some rather large projects from the heliplane in the pictures 1/32 scale and the mirage 3 1/32 to my current project that is a 1/48 Vulcan Bomber and i am intending on printing a 1/32 one to.
So if you are looking for a resin that allows you to print at high quality with reliability and is great value for money, I Highly recommend using these resins.
ied most of the colours and makes but once i tried the grey i have never looked back , excellent matt finish when cured ,not had a miss print in 12 months now , that’s unheard of with an ANYCUBIC photon i always have good build plate adhesion and i am able to print 15mm figures now with full detail at 0.05 res also it seems to clean up a lot easier as in the un cured resin on the print GREY IS THE WAY
I’ve bought 3 of these now for my sparkmakerFHD and I can’t fault it’s performance for the price, the pigment doesn’t seem to drop out of the resin and it has a pretty fast curing time, depending on the model it can cure as in as little as 6 seconds per layer! Amazing!
I set my bottom layers to 100 seconds curing time to ensure the prints stick to the build plate.
The detail I’ve been getting in phenomenal.
My only complaint is how brittle the prints can be once fully cured, If your model/ prototype has small feature or thin walls be careful.
Overall very please and great as a general purpose LCD UV resin.
I’ve been using the Anycubic Grey resin with the Photon 3D printer for a while now and I very much like it. Works as it is supposed to and very rarely do I get any failed prints, the times I have it’s usually because I didn’t configure things properly in the settings.
I’m now on the 2nd 1L bottle and will continue to use it. I’ve printed it with varying settings ranging from exposure time s of 8-12 and the resin happily handles either without a whine.
The grey colour is suitable for the application of railway modelling as it is sensible and you can see the shadows and details much easier, the yellow colour in the photographs is a model AFTER a quick blast with primer to see the details even clearer.
The resin prints to a very high resolution, even showing the polygonal facets on the base of the dome on the tank engine. The fact that it is showing up these small details proves maybe the model needs redesigning a wee!
Good stuff, recommended. 🙂
Decided to try out the new colour. We print and sell miniatures for role-playing games. This resin is definitely suitable for that task.
Our process is to run the prints, then bathe them in IPA for 5 minutes and rinse in water; then remove any support material before giving a final cure under a UV lamp.
Good: The cure time seems lower for this resin than for the Anycubic grey I tried before. Cure time of 8 seconds was actually slightly too long for this one. The prints came off the machine rock-hard and we actually managed some successful prints which didn’t come out in the Grey resin.
The only thing I would be careful of, is that it is possible to over-cure the prints in the final post-cure step. After doing the cure for 10 minutes I tried to remove a small amount of extra support material and the vampire’s arm snapped off (see picture). So time your post-cure carefully!
Overall a good quality resin. We are considering switching to this as our main resin to use for printing and selling minis.
