I’m not IT person. I bought this laptop because my old one stopped working. I wanted good processor, big memory, easy to use, good quality camera. I’m happy with my purchase.
Bought to replace old HP and it’s very quick compared with the outdated HP. I don’t play games or watch TV on it, so can’t comment. It’s perfect for what I want.
I bough it for my niece. It definitely has the power as specified. It was easy to set up. The battery holds for quite a while. The storage is great for pictures and the sound is amazing. The speed is good.
Very good product ,fast smooth and quality ,fast delivery helps only small drawback there is no backlit on my machine, there was a lot of options ,maybe too many ,otherwise happy with purchase . Do not use for gaming hence no rating
I have owned this laptop for around 9 months now and it’s been perfect, still performs as good as the day that I bought it. Perfect for work and travel as it’s lightweight, extremely fast performance too for everyday work.
I don’t do any gaming so I wouldn’t know about these things. It operates as a good laptop for what I want to use it for. I don’t store anything on the machine eg photos and files – although I do load programs that I wish to use for personal finance, astrology and genealogy – they all work fine. It comes pre-loaded with Win 11 which I can cope with although I prefer the Win 10 that my other machine had. Just make sure it’s not in ‘S-mode’ so that you are not prevented from loading the programs you wish to load.
Very pleased with this laptop and a big step up on the one it replaced except one area.
Lightweight, relatively fast processor, silent operation and quick to load programs thanks to the solid star drive. Screen display bright and clear.
Downside? Speakers.
If you wish to have music or even a video conference with a quite loud setting this laptop doesn’t appear to offer that. If your hearing is 100% it’s not an issue, nor is it for general use – but if you want louder, no.
This is a good Intel I7 laptop for the money and is quite fast with above average sound
It handles video rendering reasonably well and does everything else I need it for .Also it not full of bloatware ether .However the battery life is not very good and falls short of its claims. I would recommend it as there really is not anything else at the price poi
Bought after spilling a drink over my 8 year old workhorse so reluctantly replaced it. I don’t do gaming or graphic design etc so really it needs to do basic household stuff, homework, photos, movies, internet etc. it is fast, compact, seems robust and most importantly for me, the keyboard feels good – I’m not constantly making errors due to “light” feeling keys. I also got it for a bargain price from Amazon Warehouse.
Great laptop, suoerfast startup out of the box, easy to configure.
I would have given it five stars, but it does have an irritating habit of starting up for no apparent reason when in hibernate or sleep mode… I can live with it… Best to shut down and start up instead as it is so fas
Just set up and charged my Asus vivobook (mine has the i5 chip), works perfectly, very fast to load up, no issues. Got it for sale price 397 which is very good value for such a good Asus laptop with 8gb ram & 512gb storage. Exact same model in Argos is currently 549! Very happy with it so far.
Needed a new laptop so spent a couple of days looking what was available. I’ve had ASUS before and it didn’t let me down once so decided on this i7-1255U model. Its a decent laptop for the price point, I wish I’d ordered black instead of silver has my only niggle is the keybooard is difficult to read in certain light conditions.
I also purchased extra RAM for it from Crucial via Amazon. A singe 8GB module CT8G4SFRA32A.
Part of the reason for the downgrade, to 4 stars rather than 5, is that this is described as a laptop with windows 11 installed. It is not !!!! It is windows ready.
Before I could install windows 11, the laptop had to download and install every conceivable update for windows 10, which was installed.
After all that, process was easy. I haven’t been able to pin down what is different about the keyboard, yet, to my Dell Latitude, but something definitely is. Possible the size of the keys.
Accepted my “one Drive” download perfectly, and my “Google” Cloud download also. Does seem to be fast.
I have not rated battery life yet, as that seems a little unfair, and I do not game, so cannot comment. However, so far seems excellent value for money, at the price that I paid with the Prime discount.
Very nice laptop for the price.
Very slick and fast.
It’s not gaming laptop though, Graphic card is disappointingly 1GB. Doesn’t match the requirement for most games.
Aside that, it’s better than most laptops with similar price range.
For the price (349) the spec is hard to beat and build quality acceptable.
The keyboard is not ‘proper’ UK layout, it’s a modified US layout as pictured which is a bit annoying.
Comes in Win 11 Home ‘S mode’ which locks some features. There was no mention of this, but you can deactivate quickly and for free.
The Asus sticker left residue which took a while to remove – unnecessary and annoying!
Overall a good option for those with basic computer needs.
When purchasing any tech product one always has to take into account whether the product represents good value. At this price-point the ASUS X515 is very good value for the following reasons: –
BUILD QUALITY. Excellent. The product looks and feels well-built. One has the impression that with reasonable care, this laptop will last a long time.
PERFORMANCE. Surprisingly Good. Considering the spec, I was not expecting the laptop to be particularly fast, especially when multitasking. But I have been pleasantly surprised, for everyday computing tasks it is more than able to do the job. The storage medium is superfast – impressive.
MONITOR (SCREEN). Good enough. At first I was disappointed with the screen, the factory settings were bland and uninspiring. But once you have setup the screen the results are very acceptable and the matt finish is excellent as it does not detract from brightness but removes all reflections – very good.
BATTERY LIFE. Sufficient. Don’t expect to run the laptop all day on a single charge. It is not that type of machine. But the battery will last long enough for most purposes. Battery and weight work in opposite directions, a bigger battery means longer battery life but also means a heavier laptop. I think ASUS have got the balance between battery life and weight just about right.
WEIGHT. A 15″ laptop is never going to be a lightweight option. However I am impressed with the balance that ASUS have achieved between Size; Build Quality; Battery and Weight. Just about perfect.
KEYBOARD. Outstanding. I love the keyboard. I touch-type at around 60wpm, so the keyboard is an essential item for me. I have found that I make far fewer mistakes on this keyboard. The size of keys, the spacing and the key-travel are absolutely perfect. 10 out of 10 to ASUS. Possibly the best keyboard that I have ever used.
TRACKPAD. Very good. Well worth the time spent getting to know all the actions that this trackpad can perform.
USER GUIDE. Excellent. Well written. Covers everything.
RECOMMEND. Yes. I would buy again.
I have an old Packard Bell TJ65 that’s done me 10 years plus, I have to remove the keyboard (Stuck with velcro) then use a screwdriver to short a power up as the power button failed and a real pain to replace but it still works and for an old girl it is fine for me, BUT not for the rest of the family! The old TJ65 has an amazing shiny crystal clear screen as competed with the old Sony cinema laptops, but it is so flippin noisy it drives me mad and I installed a fan control software to quieten it down.
So I waited for Black Friday as I do my TV and Mobile requirements and this Asus laptop popped up very early on on Amazon before the sales started and I snapped it for 329. I bought a Crucial RAM 8GB DDR4 3200MHz in the sale for 20 which simply slots in, apart from undoing some screws on back of laptop it was simples, just plug and play, re-screw and done, upgraded Ram to 16GB. I am not a nerd or a techy, I don’t even know if I have done any good, but I feckin hate newspaper websites that kill my laptops and this has done the trick.
The Asus is really fast, very very quick starting, I have 3 profiles for family and it’s bullet fast. The screen is not as good as my old TJ65 but you getz what you pay for and it’s fine for what it has to do. If you need a seriously good screen then you need to dig deep right. It is light to carry, the hinges are not looking to be the strongest so will be careful and not take the Michael. But what I really love about it is it is silent, so silent I worry something is not right, I have a 1900 HP work laptop 3 months old and is noisy compared to this Asus! The battery is fine, it lasts for hours and I have never yet had to run for a charger, it is absolutely reliable and suspect that’s because it does not have an energy thirsty fan panging away..
The only downside is a real cheap keyboard, my HP is back-lit and posh, this is button press, twang and noisy as you type, but actually, for an old fart like me, it actually helps as I don’t mistype as much!
So I am sorry for the wordy review, I don’t do many, but it’s a definite yes from me and I would buy another, if I got some amazingly well paid job that meant i needed another, but I guess I have 3 laptops now so by default have a great job, unfortunately not in the pay scale department!!
ASUS Vivobook 15 X515JA 15.6″ Full HD Laptop
This comes with windows 11 home S so if you need to run application that not in the windows store then you can opt out of the windows S mode and it will revert to the usual windows home 11.
This can be done in the windows store to switch version or even upgrade to Pro if needed too.
The laptop itself isn’t half bad, for the price you pay its pretty good value its snappy while being responsive and should be able to run most applications and deal with their needs rather well.
Its not a gaming laptop nor a system that can be used to run heavy applications, so if you need a system for anything else this is perfectly suitable.
Wouldn’t be a bad laptop if your needing something for school, college etc.
The battery is probably the only thing that i felt within the price range could have been better it still last around 3 – 4 hrs however, this will also depends on the settings and application used so will vary from person to person.
Has most connectivity that one needs so one USB-C, three USB-A one of which is a USB 3.2 a HDMI and micro SD card slot which personally could have been a normal SD card slot.
Overall is a quick, snappy laptop that prefect for school or college needs. Will run all windows application perfectly fine.
Only criticism is the battery life which i felt if aimed at the student could have been a little better.
Build quality is as expected within the price range, its still a nice simple yet sleek design from ASUS.
