why i gave four stars cos bad delivery service.
as a prime account i expected it to be received following day but this took nearly two weeks time to receive it .
What a great idea can be screwed into the back of the hi def port of the computer or monitor and then a hdmi cable just plugged in. What a great little gadget. Takes way all the fiddly bits. Would definitely recommend!
Bought these to connect my HDMI Microscope to an old 24″ Dell DVI monitor I had in the loft, works absolutely flawlessly and now I can see my pathetic soldering skills on an even bigger screen.
What can I say, it’s an adapter and it works.
Arrived on time. The internal packaging was good, in a sealed reusable plastic bag, the terminals were protected by push on plastic covers. Came as a pack of 2 and I only at time of ordering needed one. I have since found a use of the other, so it saved having to make another order. Good value for the money and well made
Had to get something to use HDMI lead on a monitor at work and input was only dvi. So got this to save a second cable being carted around. Proce of 2 pretty much worth the same as 1 so got the double pack and gave one to a colleague. So now I only need this and a HDMI lead for most scenarios.
These are DVI-D adapters and I needed DVI-I or DVI-A adapters for converting an analogue VGA signal to a digital DVI signal. They are well made and I have no problems with them at all, except they don’t work for me. The advertising does say that they are DVI-D but I must have missed this when ordering so my bad.
The HDMI ports of my monitors are used by my work laptop. I wanted to be able to plug in my RPi 4, too, without unplugging my lappy. So these have allowed me to plug my Pi’s Hdmi cables into the monitors’ DVI ports.
Works well, but occasionally notice some flickery artifacts on screen when using the Pi. Nothing bad enough for me to seek a different solution, though.
Not much to say about an adaptor, it fits and does its job, decided to get this one because of the fly lead. It seems less fragile than the one without. Happy with the purchase
I got these to use a tv as a 3rd monitor for my computer.
The hdmi sits really solidly in the adapter and I have no fear of it wiggling out over time.
I’ve not done any technical tests but to my eye (as a video/photo editor) there is no drop in quality at all
Anything to stop Amazon nagging me. These DVI to HDMI adapters work. What more is there to say? Ask me again in a couple of years and I’ll let you know if they’re still working.
My laptop docking station has two DVI connectors for twin external monitors and I got these to allow HDMI monitors to be connected. The picture quality is absoultly fine. However there is a slight issue with the physical size of the adaptor. You can see from the product pictures this is a moulded adaptor. This moulding makes the adaptor 1 or 2 mm wider than a standard plug. This resulted in the two connectors not fitting end to end.
However, it was an easy matter to slightly file the ends of two adaptors to make them fit.
I have an older monitor with a standard White DVI input, but no HDMI input.
I have a laptop with a HDMI output, and also a Raspberry Pi with a HDMI output.
This connects directly onto the monitor (securely held in place via thumb screws), allowing me to play video output from my laptop or Raspberry Pi, via a standard HDMI cable.
It should also work to connect the output from a computer DVI video card, to a monitor with HDMI input, but I have not needed to test this.
As this pack contained two adaptors, it also offers the option of connecting a DIV output to a DVI input via a standard HDMI cable, if you have a HDMI cable but no DVI cable.
I used it to convert my PS4 cable (HDMI) to a old TV which only had VGA and DVI. It works as expected. I didn’t notice any image failure so far (4months of use).
BE AWARE of
The only problem is that it doesn’t convert HDMI sound to DVI (which is only video). If you need to convert also sound, you need a different adaptor. I solved my problem with the PS4 using a headset connected to the controller.
If you use a laptop, you can use a external audio device connected to the laptop, or the own laptop audio output, and then easily set the audio output to someone different that the HDMI sound.
Ordered these as I needed a way to convert HDMI to DVI for my new computer PC setup.
I currently own a Lindy DVI Switch box with remote, which also has audio feeds for each switch output / input configuration. [i.e one DVI Output with Stereo Jack, and 4 x DVI Input with Stereo jack for each.]
My old PC had a DVI on its main board but this new PC does not, the highest output video signal on the new PC was HDMI and whilst my new monitor supports all three video connections (DVI, VGA and HMDI) I found as soon as I plugged my new PC to my monitor using HDMI, it took over on signal input and then made changing over to my input sources on the other devices with only DVI more hassle as I then had to start messing about with input on the monitor to try and get that back to picking up a signal for DVI – The older devices here are a Power Mac G5 and older Mac Mini.
The solution here was to use an adapter to get my all back on DVI and using the switch, so it makes it easier to change over.
These HDMI/DVI adapters are a great buy, very good quality, solid feel and great connection, so I have no problem with anything to do with these, they are highly recommended and well worth the money as you get two for the price.
However for what I needed it for I then hit a snag, the adapters protrude at the DVI end where the thumbscrew wheels are to allow a secure connection.
Due to the close proximity of the audio connection for each switch input/output on the Lindy box, it is impossible to plug the adapter and audio jack into the switch, this is because Lindy have got the DVI/Jack/DVI/Jack so close together that any wide based DVI plug will obstruct both from items being plugged into together, so I had to use a hacksaw and take off a tiny bit of the plastic off on the DVI adapter so I could plug both into the Lindy Switch.
So if you have Lindy DVI switch, these DVI-HDMI adapters work perfectly but you may need to file off a small piece on the DVI adapter to get them to both fit in the switch together!
All in all I can’t fault these adapters and they work perfectly, so highly recommended. hence the 5 stars on all.
