The cable is working properly but it does not support Mac Mini M2 (as the seller described but I just saw it after I got the cable). I am using it with Windows PC now.
Monitor was limited to 1.4 HDMI or direct port. I noticed a USBC port on my laptop. Used this item and saw an increase in image quality than using HDMI to HDMI
Bought this Cable to connect my work laptop with an external monitor. Before purchase, make sure your laptop got a thunderbolt 4 port. Build quality is good and the length of the cable fits most of the use cases.
I bought two of these for two monitors from an M1 MBP. They seem quite good. One monitor is 4K and the cable works flawlessly there. The other is 144hz and the cable gives me full access there too. Happy days. The only hiccup I have is that one seems to be particularly fussy. If I nudge the cable at the screen end, it will disconnect. I then have to unplug and reinsert the DP connection, which is a little annoying and doesn’t fill me with long term confidence. Did the job in a pinch though.
Works fantastically well for my work laptop where it has only 1 VGA and 1 hdmi port. The USB-C ports are otherwise unused as I don’t have a dock, so this works well. The USB-C connections are also small so easy to have 2 next to each other for a multi-monitor set up.
I purchased this cable at the same time as a new monitor as I wanted a second monitor with high resolution for my MacBook Pro. The straight USB C to Displayport made things incredibly simple without the need for expansion boxes etc.
The cable is well manufactured with the end connectors having a nice sturdy connection to the cable. The cable itself is not something that will be moved a great deal however I wouldnt be worried if I was having to connect and disconnect this regularly as the build quality seems high.
Cable is a bit long for my needs but easily lost behind the monitor stand.
If I needed more I would definitely buy more of these … great product.
Left my cable at work and needed to get a new cable delivered fast. This one arrived very quickly and there is no noticeable change in data quality from the original monitor cable.
Ordered about 20 of these for work. No issues with any of them (two different orders and batches). None have failed, all working. Decent value and quality providing as expected 4K picture and sound. DisplayPort and USBC both well fitted and cable is thick but not too thick and good quality.
Works great with 16 inch retina MacBook Pro and Dell U2413 monitor and fixed the crunchy text and image issues which seem to occur when connecting with an HDMI cable. Construction and robustness seems good enough and inline with the price.
After purchasing a USBC to USBC cable and realising it was bidirectional and therefor wouldn’t allow my mac to send a signal to my monitor, I purchased this cable.
Ordered last night and arrived this morning, plugged it in, now I have a 3rd monitor off my Mac in my home office. Absolutely perfect.
Works perfectly for my CRG9 ultrawide at 5120×1440 at 120hz. I’m connected to my lenovo Legion 7i and it works without any issues.
The only downside is the plastic casing around the display port feels really cheap but it doesn’t matter as it won’t be unplugged or moved around ever. I should have paid a few extra for a braided cable version but that’s all preferance.
Doesn’t have the lock tab on the Display port connector but this isn’t a beg deal. Wish I’d bought a slightly longer cable, but it is the correct length as listed (1.8m).
There isn’t much to go wrong with a cable, but using this for a laptop, I’ve had no issues since using a few months ago. A high quality cable is always nice to use for what it’s worth. A great buy, would use this again.
I got this to be able to output from a work laptop onto my extra wide monitor. It allowed me to run at a rock stable 60hz and get rid of the mobile Dock I had been using with various issues.
I bought an ultrawide monitor to replace my 2 work monitors when working at home. Suddenly, I realised I didn’t need a port replicator with 2 video cables and that a single cable would suffice from my work laptop to the monitor.
I tried other brands, but couldn’t get the resolution. This one however gave me full resolution with no issues.
The laptop in question is a HP Probook 450 G6. Not a powerhouse as such, but works in this combination.
I would recommend this cable for those with a similar setup and requirement.
Got this for my second monitor to attach to my laptop. Work supplied a laptop, but no extra monitor, managed to scrounge one from work which was going to the scrap. Just needed the cable to set it up, this works a treat and no issues with the set up as most laptops come with a Type “C” output now. This is for signal out from a laptop to a monitor via USB type “C”.
Does exactly what I need it to (USB-C on laptop to DisplayPort on monitor) and has done it without issue for a few months now but I feel like the USB-C connector could be a bit more sturdy. The DisplayPort end feels fine but this isn’t the connector that will frequently be plugged and unplugged like the USB end will. Will have to see how things go with it and hope it doesn’t break on me.
I also feel like it’s a bit more expensive than it should be, but other cables are similarly priced so this must be a problem with the market rather than the value for money of this cable.
This cable does the job well as far as cables go…
I’ve used it to get a 2k resolution (1440p) and 144Hz refresh rate, and it delivered a much better picture quality than the HDMI cable that came in the box – it must be to do with DP being newer and HDMI not being the 2.1 version.
When I bought it this cable was reasonably priced compared to the other ones so happy to give it 5 stars.
Displaying 2560*1440p at 60Hz on my ancient Dell U2711 using a FHD laptop’s USB-C port. This monitor’s EDID file tells every PC that its max resolution is 1920*1080p when it’s connected via HDMI port (this was Dell’s policy back when it was new) so I needed this to use its DisplayPort input instead where its native resolution is correctly reported to the PC.
I have two dell displays and lenovo laptop with which this cable didn’t start working intially. Then just after I started the process of returning it I red the reviews here that display port connector of the cable need to be pushed really hard all the way inside the DP connector of the monitor. I tried with a lot of force to push it all the way in and it started to work on both displays DELL U2913WM – ultra wide 2k display and Dell UP3214Q – wide 4K display – my laptop is Lenovo t480s. Also working with my Huawei P30 Pro.
See the title — initially I thought the cable did not work, but then I pushed the DP plug REALLY hard into the port and it went in, no problem since. I am afraid however of what might happen if I ever have to unplug it…
May just be a problem with this particular monitor, but worth mentioning anyway, and one star off for it.
I bought this cable to add a second display to my Mac Mini 2018 as it only has one HDMI port. Both of my monitors have DisplayPort connectors, but only one of them recognised this cable! This was not a problem for me because I always intended to connect one using a HDMI -> DVI cable, and so was able to swap the cables around to get both working.
For reference my HP ZR2440w didn’t like the cable (it flashed up check cable and was not detected by the Mac). This may have been caused by an annoying plastic lug at the back of the monitor that makes it difficult (or most likely impossible) to push the connector in fully. Presumably regular DisportPort cables are able to fit over the lug.
In contrast my HP EliteDisplay E241i works perfectly well with this cable and was immediately detected as the second display by the Mac. It has nothing to obstruct the cable which is probably the only difference.
I’m now very happy with my purchase, but have decided to drop one star as it appears to not be compatible with all monitors (at least in my experience). Before buying I would recommend checking that there is nothing protruding from your monitor below the DisplayPort socket. Otherwise it’s a great cable and looks to be well made.
Wasn’t sure how good this would be at under a tenner, but it’s perfect!
Cable is long enough, flexible and the DisplayPort connector doesn’t have the annoying clip lock you normally have to squeeze when you want to disconnect it. It clicked in fine to my monitor and felt secure.
Tested with 4K laptop/monitor, plug and play, picture came up straight away, perfect picture quality, no screen flicker or blurry image. 4K 60Hz, with Audio.
Tested with Galaxy S10+, also worked great with no problems. Works nicely with the new Samsung DeX and screen mirroring modes.
Came in resealable/reusable bag with connector covers which are a nice touch.
Would recommend!
I recently bought a Surface dock for my Surface Book 2, with the idea being to drive two Dell monitors daisy chained together using Display Port. I kept getting intermittent problems with screens going blank, not being detected, and randomly flickering etc. I switched to using both mDP ports to drive the monitors independently, but had the same issues. I firmware updated the dock, deleted registry entries etc, all to no avail.
I plug this cable in, and both displays are detected straight away – no flickering or messing around! All for less than 10. The dock was 135 and has now been returned… extremely pleased, and highly recommended.
This is a nice cable. I happen to have a Macbook Pro with the USB-C ports, which means I need to have adapters ready if I want to plug something in. There are two monitors at my desk, and having huge adapters would look obnoxious, so I decided to buy something that would make my set-up ready to go in seconds without breaking the aesthetic look.
I have been using the two DisplayPort to USB-C cables for more than three months already and am absolutely satisfied with the quality.
