I got these 3 years before for a place I was working at, as a control panel wire man, only Just over 42 then, the price has changed a lot , but here is still the cheapest place to buy them,
I was so impressed with the Bosch drill bits, I had to get some for myself, you do have to always use oil/cutting grease when using them, also remember that this is a very hard bit so not as flexible as some so no sideways drilling, or you may brake them but they do cut very well, when I was working I was drilling stainless steel cabinets and I never broke one, others users at work did, I don’t know how as one broke a 8mm bit, I think he may have tried to enlarge a hole by using it sideways and moving it around, so I had to order them some more I got them the 19 bit size,
But I have got myself now the 25 bit set and very glad I did,
Yes I have other drill bits, but after using these you will not want any other bits,
I did order a no name set from eBay that said that they are colbolt, but when they arrived they had HSS on the shank no CO, for cobolt, I complained and got a full refund and got to keep them, most are still unused but 2 or 3 have snapped, as they do not cut as well as these, yes you do get what you pay for,
I hope these will keep me going for some time as a electronic hobbyist at home,
I will not lend these out only the cheaper set of bits,
I did look on the sellers website to see if he was selling these cheaper but they were not, Amazon was 5 cheaper and prime delivery,
Thanks Dave 2E0DMB
I’ve used these for a while now in the workshop. They’ve definitely been put through their paces being used in everything from battery drills to pillar drills and laithes. They’ve been very impressive with their cutting ability and durability. I’ve been careful not to put sideways load on them as they can be brittle and so far haven’t broken any. The downside is everybody wants to borrow them.
Purchased dewalt hss drill bits for my project, absolutely useless then I saw these admitted they were twice the price but when I used them they went through the steel like a hot knife through butter so the motto is buy cheap buy twice, I give these bad boys 10/10
Needed to drill some Titanium which I managed to do well with set. Can’t vouch for longevity as only had them a short time but I have found Bosch drill bits to be of good quality though out my woodworking career.
Tried several types and makes of bit to drill lots of 8mm holes in angle iron, none were any good, ranging from just spinning and polishing the hole initially started to maybe working for a few holes and then going blunt.
These however keep cutting from the very first contact and in the end I didn’t even use a centre punch, they were that good they just made their own start. Driled about sixty holes with three sizes and they’re still sharp, definitely worth paying the extra over the Bosch Professional standard.
I drilled over 50 holes through 3mm angle iron for 8mm bolts. No problems. None of the drill bits broke. In fairness I must say that I was very careful when doing this job. I used oil and went up in 0.5mm steps. Good drills are expensive and I just did not want to break any. I probably could have done this job in less then half the time if I had increased the step size. They did what I needed and so I was very happy with them.
I had a bolt snap off in the car calliper carrier/bracket (pretty thick bolt approx. 7mm) and I had to drill it out at least 8 centimetres. I had to use 5x drill bit sizes each time reaching 8cm deep, and the amazing thing is the smaller drill bits didn’t break, or get blunt more than maybe 10% (each one took a hammering). These dont have the gold/yellow coating but they are amazing.
So I was needing to put up several sets of window blinds when I found out by drilling through the plaster there was a metal lintel above the window which I was struggling to get through.
Tried several bits I had which I thought would work including HSS ones, I did get through but with a lot of effort and swearing.
So, decided to get some specific metal ones and I already have a set of Bosch Pro Masonry drill bits which are brilliant so decided to try their metal bits.
Superb and cutting through metal is a breeze, my go to set now!!
Was looking for another set but couldn’t get it, settled with these and honestly I’m very impressed, the different sizes is great, little tiny bits are fragile but that’s normal otherwise they cut through metal and I’m very impressive
Using these out of the box and they’re amazing, went through a car body like nothing. They cut through normal steel no problem, stainless steel needed a little bit of downward pressure but they chewed through after a couple of seconds.
Tried them on wood and it drilled through so fast I had to pull up on the drill to stop it from splitting the wood.
5* for performance, waiting to see if they stay sharp.
Good quality bits nice set.
If you know how to drill a hole correctly and you know your materials these bits will consistently put holes in metal.
Don’t blame the product blame your lack of skills
I didn’t realise how good a drill bit could be until I bought these. I’ve been using one of those, comparatively cheap sets that supply quantity, seemed like a good idea because I tended to snap them frequently. Then I got these. They go through all the materials I need them to quicker, without snapping and cooler. They cut that cool spiral of material away instead of chipping away, heating up and failing altogether.
I just buy harder drills so they stay sharp longer! Some of the cheap drills you can buy go blunt after a few dozen holes in pine, so really I am a great believer in buying quality drills. These have the advantage of course that they will drill in to almost anything should you need it.
I tend to use 3mm, 4mm and 6mm drills all the time so I have a box full of those. They are throwaway drills. Then I have the Bosch set which I keep for special use and when I need something other than my normal 3,4 or 6mm.
I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the well designed strong plastic case. Closes securely, easy to open, and the drill bits are easy to access yet securely held in their clearly labelled holes. Unlike so many modern tool cases that are designed for initial display rather than continued use.
