I purchased 2 of these in 2017, but it was only when renewing the foil this week that I thought about doing a review. I have used Braun shavers for 20 years because their products are truly exceptional quality. My first Braun shaver purchased in 2001 still physically works.
The clean and renew is a great idea and gives me a fresh like-new feeling shaver each day. Like the smell too although it is very lemon-y.
Very good shaver… Being folically challenged I use this for me entire head. Very close shave (as good as hot towel shave in my opinion) is on the expensive side but I find the ‘floating head’ very good and makes the once weekly total head shave, which I dread, alot easier! The cleaner base is good and doesn’t use as much fluids as I thought it would. Is a bit expensive, but I would buy again, hopefully will last for quite sometime though.
What a fantastic razor !, I have wet shaved for many years and had in the past purchased electric razors that just couldn’t come close to a wet shave however this Braun is as good as wet shaving. I wet shave with the Braun using a small amount of foam and results are great. No dryness on skin , far quicker than wet shave and easy to use . I have the Braun clean and charge station although I only use the clean facility every 10 shaves as I clean the razor under the tap after shaving most times. You won’t be disappointed with this razor.
Simply , as good as a wet razor shave, Infact it’s better. No tugging, smooth, no irritation. I was really struggling on a decision to purchase this or the Panasonic equivalent but I’m so glad I went for Braun. I very rarely write a review on Amazon but I felt this truly was worth some praise.
I was using a Harry’s razor and got sick to death of replacing the blades.
This shaver can be used wet with foam and I would suggest that being the preferred way it is used.
I am fair skin with blonde hair and always get shaving rash and irritated skin when using a razor . Not with this. Use foam and moisturise after and it’s perfect . Highly recommend . Anyone who says this isn’t as close as a razor blade shave isn’t shaving right or has some thick hair.
As you know, this isn’t cheap. In fact, it’s very expensive – but I don’t mind that because it’s solved an adulthood long problem of sensitive skin. I’ve tried wet and electric shaving for the past 30 odd years, with painful and sore consequences – until now. This – combined with a pre-shave, cold rinse and soothing aftershave balm – has made all the difference to me.
I have only used it dry, but it works perfectly. I take care of it, and brush/blow away any debris after every shave, and add oil after every weekly rinse. I also clean it using the propriety fluid after every month or so. It’s not much effort – and I really don’t want to lose this shaver.
It is ok with long hairs, but does pull sometimes, which means that it’s not worth the chance if I have a beard – I always trim it first.
Of course, it’s also beautiful – in a geeky, but certainly masculine, sort of way.
I have been doing a wet shave for many many years. the last time I used an Electric shaver on a regular basis was back in the early 90’s (not a cheap one), which eventually put me off using an electric shaver because of the bad rash I used to get and the ingrowing hairs that caused me problems with my skin. This shaver was recommended by a friend who has the 7 series shaver and he swore by it, so I gave it a go! What a fantastic shaver, a really close shave and in less time to shave. I would really recommend this shaver to anyone and challenge the wet shavers to try it.
I’ve had lots of different electric shaves over the years and never been completely satisfied with either the shave or the comfort( I’m 59). This Braun shaver is in a different league. The first time I used it was at Xmas when I hadn’t had a shave for a week. Absolutely no discomfort or pulling when using it dry and a really smooth cut. You can use it dry or wet (with foam or gel) no problem. Charge lasts for ages and the cleaning/charging dock is easy to use. My top tip is not to buy extra cleaning cartridges but to buy a bottle of liquid cleaning solution separately to top them up. I know it’s not cheap but if you can afford the price buy this shaver. It really is that good. A very satisfied customer.
So we decided that it was time for a new one and here it is, he used it today for the first time and could not believe how far the performance and build quality had improved over his older one, he claims that this is the best shaver that he has ever owned and is highly delighted.
The build quality of the shaver is excellent as is the charging/cleaning dock and what is also great is that all of his older cleaning cartridges are compatible with this new one. It also comes with a really nice carry case for the shaver itself, so, all in all, I have an extremely happy Dad…….”Perfect” 🙂
Out of the box, it took just 1hr to fully charge.
I used King Of Shaves oil on one side of my face and dry the other. The results on 2-3 day growth were amazing. Just as close as a Gillette wet shave. The oiled side was easier to shave, but the dry side was just as good in terms of cutting. But for me, the best thing was no shaving rash!
The Cleaner is very good and very quick, cleaning and lubricating the blades – so no oil required. Nice Citrus smell.
Nice travel case, though no separate travel cable, so you will need to detatch the bulky one from the Cleaner or purchase a separate cable ( RRP 19.99)
Overall I am very very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommended.
I brought Braun 9296cc recently. Because I believe I have the most sensitive skin and every time I shave I cut and irritation bothers me until the next day.
All the while, though I wanted to shave regularly, I couldn’t shave to my wish.
I tried Philips shaver long ago, and I stopped using it after bitter disappointment with the results – Real men don’t like that ugly, rough look.
Since then, for the next 10 years, I used to shave with Gillet Vector 3 razors in weekly intervals.
But I wanted to try the Braun shaver, after impressed with my Braun toothbrush.
I am writing this review to help the one like me.
This is very easy and can handle sensitive skin, the trick here is to master it in first few trails. And then you will be shaving every day and with no irritation. People really scared in some reviews that it is not as good as 7 series. I can not comment on that because I never used 7 series.
I tried this for 2 weeks now shaving 5/7 days. Loving it!

I think this is the best electric shaver ive ever used… out the box you get the shaver, leather carry case, cleaning brush, charging and cleaning station that look great the shaver is black and chrome and the charging station is black which look great when put together to charge and clean the shaver. Ive only tried this shaver once and i already love it gives the best shave ive ever had from an electric shaver. It gives a great close shave with NO hair pulling. The actual shaver head is really good moves freely to the contours of your face and neck for a close shave even the tricky parts under the nose and chin. I also tried the clean and charge station i thought it was good it gave the shaver a nice clean left it clean and smelling fresh. What would i want to know before buying. I think only that to get the best shave from it you need to go against the grain of hair otherwise is misses a few hairs but if you go against the grain its perfect. The carrycase it feels very nice, the shaver and cleaning brush fit into it prefectly for taking with you. I would recommend 100%. The best electric shaver ive ever tried..
I have used other electric shavers and my neck and jaw line turn into a red rash almost immediately, I have been using the Braun Series 9 9296cc shaver for a week now and my skin is great.
Now the razor itself is stylish and looks great, it’s easy to use and it’s 10-D Flex head that gently adapts to your skin contours combined with 40,000 cross-cutting actions/minute, helps to create the closest shave I have ever had with an electric shaver (did I mention no irritation), it also has SynchroSonic technology ( sounds fancy – but I’m not sure what this is).
It does come with it’s own cleaning station and no you still have to clean out the hair inside with the brush provided. The cleaning station must remove the grease from the skin/razor contact and the shaver smells lemony (is that a word) after it’s been cleaned.
Anyway I am not sure I will be switching back to the razor and shaving cream soon.

This is the closest shave I’ve ever had from an electric shaver. Amazing! The shave that it leaves you with is almost comparable to that of a manual shaver. You can use the saver wet or dry, I normally just splash a bit of water on my face and go. From there it’s a comfortable shave, doesn’t feel like it pulls or snags anywhere and the swivelling head makes it easy to reach those places that I normally miss. I still can’t get over how good the shave is, it leaves the electric shavers I’ve used previously in the dust! It’s really comfortable to hold, with rubberised grips in exactly the right places. The buttons aren’t in the way when you’re shaving, so it’s not too easy to turn it off by accident or anything like that. With its chrome like finish, the shaver looks really stylish in my bathroom alongside my other products. The shaver comes with a charging and cleaning dock as well as a cartridge of cleaning fluid to get you going. When it needs charging or cleaning it’s super easy, just drop it and leave it for the day. The dock does make some noise for the hour or so whilst it’s cleaning but after that it’s completely silent. The lights on it aren’t overly intrusive either so it’s fine to keep in your bedroom. The shaver also comes with a cool looking hardened carry case, so if you’re off on your travels you can take it with you safely. For those longer longer trips the charging cable that you use for your charging dock can also be plugged directly into your shaver. To be honest though, unless you’re going for a fortnight or more, the battery will see you through! I can’t praise this shaver enough. Super close shave, comfortable, looks great, all the accessories you need and travels well. Would definitely recommend to anyone and give 5 out of 5 any day.
