This year we seemed to have a Flyaggeddon in our place, of the tiny fruit fly kind. They would land on my phone screen in a darkened room, so I knew the little blighters were attracted to light.
I looked at several options, but this one had more realistic reviews, wouldn’t look too out of place in the home, and uses LED’s, so no annual bulb purchasing.
Within 5 minutes of turning it on… CRACK! CRACK! CRACK-CRACK!
It’s perfect for the job, it also worked well with me in the same room and with other lamps turned on. The little blighters are drawn into the ultra violet glow as they obliviously fly into the beautiful light of death.
The light isn’t too bright either. We have ours right next to the TV and it doesn’t distract or dazzle you at all. It’s actually a nice ambient glow.
The on/off switch is a bit strange, you just have to push it in as far as it will go, but it works fine. I have ours on a smart plug, so I can turn it on and off with my phone.
So it does the job I wanted it for and looks cool doing it. The only negative aspect is jumping out of my skin when it cracks a kill while I am relaxing in the living room. But at the same time, it feels good to know its doing its job.
This is brilliant. Looks good in the room and is a decent size. It looks a bit like a radio so when it’s off it blends in to the decor. Sparks quite loudly when doing what it’s designed to do but it definitely gets rid of those annoying flies buzzing about.
This has got to be the best product I have ever purchased on Amazon. I would highly recommend to anyone that has issues with flys, big, small, the ones that really annoy you when serving food, it gets them all.
Energy efficient and creates a soft glow we have ours in the kitchen. Be prepared for when flies and bugs hit it as there is a loud “crack” where a higher voltage grid takes the intruder out. Definitely a good investment if your plagued by flies.
Bought to exterminate troublesome fruit flies, but not as efficient as a centimetre of Crabbie’s green ginger wine in a small vodka glass placed anywhere you choose. These flies have a powerful sense of smell, and will soon be found drowned in this small quantity of wonderful irresistible nectar. If you can bear to spare a wee dram for this purpose it certainly does the trick, and it won’t cause any explosive cracks as it does so !
I bought this yesterday and switched it on as soon as I got home. Let me say that I was totally amazed haw many mosquitoes and moths including flies it attracted and took care of in a very short time! Haha, at last I had a good nights sleep without being bitten or buzzing around when your ready for bed!
I switched it off after the room was quiet and finally got a much needed sleep.
I’m in the process of buying another one-well worth the money!
Thanks again for sending this super fast!
Someone wrote lead not long enough well looks long enough for me I could have gone higher it’s at 6ft now and plenty of lead left yet. As you can see works fine not as bright as thought it might be but just as good. Let’s see how it gets on. Bought when was offer so cheapest one for this type. Bloody loud when it crackles almost @#at myself. Cheap to run.
Have it plugged into my WiFi plug so now on a timer, plus can turn on or off when I want from phone.
I am kicking myself for not purchasing this zapper sooner. I have been plagued with larder moths and fruit flies for around 18 months and altough using the usual over the counter moth remedies have kept things to a minimum, I was always frustrated that spraying one moth resulted in another two appearing the next day. It was like a conveyor belt of bugs was running through my home! After two weeks of having this item running there was a scary amount of dead moths in the tray. You do have to be prepared for the noise however as that can be quite shocking. The insects that venture into this zapper are dispatched in a very loud pop which, once you get used to it, becomes quite satisfying. I have cats and I also love to have my windows open which invites all manner of flying insects in. To see the level of insects this machine disposes of takes the stress out of having the windows open so much. The price did put me off purchasing this item for a while, but it has proved that I should have got it before I started spending a fortune on the sprays, pads and stickers I purchased that literally did not have any effect at all. So, if you are wondering whether this is worth the money, I can guarantee that it really is! Just buy it and listen to all the intruders in your home being sorted out!
Seems to work fine.
The strap tends to fall over the side if it is on a shelf or table, but the carry strap detaches easily.
Best used overnight, or else in a dim place during the day, but that applies to any device of this kind.
On arrival plugged this in to an extension as the cable wasn’t long enough for the wall socket, sadly it didn’t switch on. Tried a few extensions but still didn’t work. Opened a return and boxed it up. Made a final attempt to plug in before sending it back and to my surprise it worked! Ps it has a on/off switch at the side which I pressed each time so it’s a mystery as to why it didn’t work straight away. Has worked perfectly since though. Effective and does what it’s intended to do. Not sure how much it attracts insects but when they do fly in to the zapper, bang! You know when it’s zapped thats for sure. Happy with the purchase in the end, glad I gave it one last test.
