This new Corsair RMe850 (2023) is a replacement for a failed MSI PSU which barely lasted 3 months.
Cables are the flat type and are pretty flexible and just about the right length but beware there are less cables included than on the 1000w model. It should also be noted you don’t get Jap caps either and it’s only a 7 year guarantee. The unit itself is fairly compact meaning a smaller 120mm fan is being used, fortunately it’s quite in operation, although I do hear a definite click when I switch off, my previous Corsair didn’t do that.
Package branding is confusing stating ATX 3.0 and listing a 12VHPWR cable in the contents, however model number states CP-9020263-UK which Corsair claims has the new 12V-2×6 cable, really this should be clearer.
Although some corners are being cut, overall this unit brings a decent balance of performance and efficiency at a sub 100.00 price point.
This was worth the money as it is so quiet and has a good warranty from a top brand. Fitting was easy and the cables seem very tough and of good quality.
This psu is a cheaper alternative to the RM1000X better add that extra bob and get the X, these E versions can be abit noisy on the coil. I personally hate hearing those annoying coil whines as I don’t use headphones often.
Unsurprisingly had issues with shutdowns with my old 650W after adding an RTX 4080 Super (despite an efficient 7800X3D with it). An 850W probably would’ve been enough but ordered this for some extra headroom and it’s been great, zero issues, nice and quiet and was easy to install. Best part is it came with a 12VHPWR cable making it even simpler and resulting in a much cleaner set up. Would recommend.
So the RM650 itself is near silent, and installation was made much easier and cleaner thanks to being able to plug in whichever end made more sense first. Generally it’s all the good quality I’ve come to expect from corsair. I do, however, have to take exception to their choice of cabling to include with the PSU. Granted they didn’t have to include any cable but, gift horse dentistry aside, the cables are simply horrible. they’re flat ribbon types which are pretty stiff and inflexible, and I have no idea why they thought to include two identical CPU cables, but not include a single headed 6+2 pin PCIE cable for the GPU. If you want to do a good job on your install, buy yourself some nicer cables alongside the PSU, otherwise it’s a perfectly cromulent bit of kit that I’m sure will last for years to come.
I already have a Be Quiet 1200w on my main computer so when I bought this i was amazed how quiet this was, so I was extremely happy with it, because it was better than expected i give this a 5 stars but i should mention I wasn’t so pleased with the cables, I find them thick and bulky for my midi atx tower and the GPU cable has a split cable so looks a bit ugly, but the cables are of high quality. this is for my second computer which is a intel 2600 but after having a burning smell with my previous 650watts I wasnt taking any risks so went with this 850w.
I’ve been building computers for over 10 years at this point and I’ve only used Corsair PSUs.
Back in the day it used to be the CX550m for the low cost and great components but 550w just wasn’t cutting it for me anymore.
So for my personal system (R7 5700x and RX7900GRE) I decided to go for something with a bit more headroom.
The power supply fits great in my Fractal Design North and cable management wasn’t an issue thanks to the modularity of the unit.
I haven’t had any issues with noise or heat and the extra headroom for wattage allows for my system to reach its full performance and allows for some nice OC.
I’ve read some things about coil whine from this unit but I can’t attest to this myself and I’ve been running it for over a month now.
No issues here, quite psu with lots of decent cables.
Had to use a pci cable with an inline breakout for gpu as the psu only came with 2 direct pci power cables but no issues so far. Plenty of power for now and the future
Bought as power supply for a new server build. Having previously bought a RM850x for my current gaming PC build, I wanted a supply with enough optional expansion options for hardware.
As with the RM850x, this has all the features I need, with the many optional modular cables, standard Corsair warranty and the low noise fan.
The cables all went in perfectly, and are in there solid. They feel strong, had plenty of length, and were bendable just as much as needed.
I always build with Corsair PSU’s. They’re tough, they’re reliable, and they last a really long time.
I use the RM1000e PSU in my main rig with an AMD RYZEN 9 7900X CPU, and Radeon RX 7800 XT GPU, as well as my encoding rig with an Intel Core I5 11th gen, and Intel Arc A770 GPU. In both systems these PSUs are quiet, while providing ample power even when under load.
There are cheaper PSUs out there, but I absolutely recommend Corsair. Power Supplies are not something to skimp on.
I needed to buy a new PSU for a new build as the motherboard had an 8-pin power socket for the processor and the existing PSU only had a 4-pin plug. I particularly liked the idea that I only had to plug cables into the PSU the power cables I needed to use and in doing so did not have a jungle of excess cables to contend with. The kit also includes cable ties so you can tidy up after installation.
This power supply may be a bit pricey compared to some, however this power supply is a fantastic investment as it can future proof your pc. For any upgrades you may do over the next coming years. The cables are great as they come white and are great for a black/white built.
Grand unit bit stiff inserting plugs, prefer rounded cables, note didn’t realise the sata power cables are not compatible with different units, couldn’t work out why it wouldn’t start, with any data drivers plugged in only luck made me try the ones that came with the unit.
Good power Supply BUT! and a Big BUT at that! The cooling Fan in this Corsair 1000w PSU is by Far the loudest Fan in my system!(Of which there is 10)!Boy is it annoying! If you can stump up a bit more Cash buy yourself a Seasonic unless you like the Sound of Locusts! Not a Quality I would of expected from Corsair!
My old 750 Corsair modular was tripping the house electrics so replaced it with this.
Just unplugged the old PSU and replaced with the new one.
Incredibly handy if the PSU you’re replacing is the same platform as I didn’t need to change the cables, just a straight swap.
(Probably advisable to change the cables too but it is what it is).
This was bought to replace a similar PSU that had recently failed.
It is so silent that I have to check the switch on my PC to see if it’s running!
Comes with enough leads to connect just about anything but I just used the leads already fitted to my motherboard from my old PSU.
Know what you’re buying here – this is essentially a budget version of Corsair’s X series of PSUs. It has a smaller fan, so they use that to claim that it’s quiet. I knew this when buying though, so do your research as I did, and the X series is only slightly louder. I usually wear headphones and it only spins up when it’s at load, but it is the loudest component in my computer, and I’ve got an RTX 4080 with 3 fans of about the same size!
This power supply runs so quietly that I’m now able to sleep with my pc switched on! No loud coil whine, no loud fan spinning constantly, it just works as intended. Highly recommend. Can’t go wrong with Corsair (much).
It’s well known in the tech world to always, always, ALWAYS buy a reputable brand! A bad power supply can destroy every single component in your computer, and at worst burst into flames!
With that being said, even when buying a reputable brand you don’t have to buy the most expensive, which is how I ended up buying this power supply from Corsair, it combined a great price with a well known reputation!
Both my wife and I have Corsair power supplies and we have had absolutely no problems with them, they just work!
This was also my first modular power supply, so I expected a few teething problems, but no, it was as simple as plugging in the things I needed, and had a ton of spare cables left over.
Highly recommend!

Apart from looking the business in my son’s recently upgraded gaming system that uses a black and white colour scheme, it’s also a beast of a supply and way overkill for what he needs even with a RX 6750 XT GPU in there.
But with PC’s, more power than needed is never a bad thing.
Modular design means you can use only the cables that you need making cable management much easier. The individually white sleeved cables look good too and you get a great selection of connectors to choose from, importantly for those with bigger GPUs they supply 3 PCIe cables as well as 2 ATX (1 x 8 pin and 1 x 4 pin).
Overall an excellent PSU (I use the black version in my system). But, PSU prices are still ridiculous even though most other components are returning to more “normal” prices.
I’ve been using this power supply for a few weeks now and I have to say, “i got the power”.
My computer used to be louder than a room full of toddlers with vuvuzelas. Id have to wear headphones to muffle the sound of a clapped out PSU. But now, thanks to the Corsair RM750, my computer is so quite that i can hear the electrons playing harpsichord music in the circuits of my CPU.
If you’re looking for a power supply that will make your life simpler, happier and fill it with harpsichord music then get yourself a Corsair RM750!
