    [SPOILER-FREE REVIEW]

I have bought this Blu-Ray due to an upcoming release of the Haunting in Venice, which I’m quite excited about. I had watched the first part (Murder on the Orient Express) and now have given a try to this adaptation of another Agatha Christie’s classic. However, I must initially state that the story in the movie is not an exact copy of Christie’s plot. There are some changes in comparison to the book so be aware of that.

The movie is absolutely stunning, as very picturesque, CGI-enhanced panoramas are shown quite often again, just like in the Murder on The Orient Express. Similarly to the previous movie, this one involves many talented actors & actresses, the cast is definitely the strongest part of the film. While I enjoyed the movie quite a bit, I must say that the previous part felt more interesting, the murder happened quicker in the Murder on the Orient Express (therefore it was more tense) and more importantly it’s way easier to guess who the murderer is in Death on the Nile is, after you see the clues shown (I have correctly predicted who the killer is around 30 minutes before end of the movie, in previous part it wasn’t obvious at all).

5.0 out of 5 stars Good movie but slightly worse than Murder on the Orient Express

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBig kenneth Branagh Fan. Ever since he grabbed Harry Potter in the book shop and announced hes going away “With my complete Works of Magical me”!!!….He makes a good Poirot, and the supporting cast are outstanding. Gal Gadot is superb. Great to see Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones) again to… Good visual effects make it seem seamless travel. Good sound and sparkling HD vision.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe film is well made and acted. However, if you are an Agatha Christie addict you may be annoyed by some of the changes made to the story. Whilst I enjoyed the film you need to just see it as a murder mystery not a true Christie.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI love Agatha Christie and watched many adaptations of her novels on screen. Many knocked both of these new ones but I brought them and loved each of them as they give a little bit extra of the main character Poirot from his love to his moustache

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersA new take on two classics. Definitely not for the purists but I enjoyed them both.

I saw Death on the Nile in the cinema first courtesy of my daughter and the DVD was a must have.

The enormously talented Kenneth Branagh directs and gives a mesmerising performance as Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot. He is supported admirably by the ensemble casts in both films. Mr Branagh gives performances of great charm and depth, with wonderful glimpses of humour. The scenes are set beautifully and Patrick Doyle’s scores are moving and exciting.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersForgive the producers for the presence of Arnie Hammer, but the rest of the cast are excellent – Hammer, actually, wasn’t bad in his role. A nice retelling of an old Hercule Poirot story, but this one has a rich colours and fine cinematography. It seems part travelogue in many scenes. The suspense is not tight, but adequate, and as usual, everyone (who is not dead) are gathered together by Poirot and by sheer deduction, exposes the killer. Entertainment for any time of the day, any day.

Delayed by covid and the machinations of the main star, this Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of the famous Poirot novel, seemed fated. However I was pleasantly surprised at the film, which takes a new darker twist on the much known Agatha Christie thriller.
