Great machine- looks good and works well.
However we are limited to only one place where it can work efficiently as the extension hose does not stretch that far.
Contacted DeLonghi customer services and they don’t sell any extra parts which would help.
Might have to look at a different option for extension , but not sure it would work as well.
A little disappointing but still glad I purchased the product as the cool air has been so nice on these hot days!
Remote and app are a good way to operate this.
cooling capacity is massively over exaggerated unless mine is faulty.
The oxford dictionary may have the definition of silent massively wrong as well.
It is possibly quieter than my last 400 quid chinesium cooler but silent is not a word to be used.
Quiet when on fan only mode, yes, but you dont buy this to be on fan only mode.
not a bad unit for around 500 quid, but it isnt!!
I was pleased with this machine, the remote was easy to use, quite noisy when used too Lower room temperature, but I expected that, as I have open plan living room, kitchen diner, so needed a powerful machine to cover a big area, which it did perfectly, after 2 weeks of bliss, then I noticed water leaking from nderneath the machine, i had already emptied the tank via the plug as recommended, so i knew it wasn’t that, after reading reviews about this particular machine (which I hadn’t bothered to do before hand) and apparently it seemed like other people had experienced the same thing. I did consider buying a drop tray to stand the machine on to collect any water, but decided the machine is far to heavy for me to lift on and off to empty the drip tray. I decided to return the machine back to the seller and look for another machine without any complications.
Brilliant – hardly has any water creation.
Last one i had – had a water tank.
Ran this for weeks – hardly any water collected – must recycle it somehow ?
Unit is absolutely amazing for cooling my bedroom on these hot weeks. There is obviously some noise from the compressor but no more than expected really, it doesn’t stop me sleeping and it’s better than being ho
Nice liking PAC unit, does the job well and a lot quieter than a 400 cheap job.
Remote is well made but a little hit and miss but works if you turn the unit on using it and ensure you point it directly at the unit and for maybe half a serving per press.
Looks good, adversities pretty good. Recommend a fabric window sock thingy to get the most efficiency out of the unit.
I’ve had this for a couple of months and it was an absolute lifesaver for the two days of proper summer we had. It cools the room really quickly, our medium sized living room cools down by about 0.5C in about 5 minutes. It seems pretty energy efficient but I’ll update that when we get our next electricity bill. A few things which might be an issue for some people…1. The noise. I love white noise so for me it’s perfect but you would likely have to turn up the tv when this is on. Even on silent mode. My babies find the noise soothing and sleep through it but my husband said it took a bit of getting used to.
2. If you have small children you’ll want to insure this as they seem to like putting objects into the rather large vent spaces. It’s not the air conditioners fault that my children feel like throwing things in, but I’ve seen other models with better child proofing eg smaller holes. My iPhone has been thrown in quite easily. It is possible to open the unit up to remove the objects.
3. It’s a bit bulky but it’s well designed and I think aesthetically pleasing 4. As with all portable ACs you need to install it and ideally seal off the window otherwise it would be inefficient. We got a mesh from Amazon which does a good enough job. 5. It can potentially be moved from room to room on the same floor as it has wheels but it’s very heavy so moving between floors would be tricky. All in all it’s a great device, even for the crazy price and I don’t know how we lived through previous summers without air conditioning.
Does a great job of cooling my living room, and does creep into the hall if you keep the door open, can be noisy but I am aware that this is one of the more quieter models on the market, so I would hate to think what a noiser model would sound like! One thing I will say that especially in the UK the majority of new homes have windows that open outwards, and would have been nice to receive an adequate seal for this type of window and to not have to purchase it separately, that being said I’m sure this product is aimed at the worldwide market and not just the uk, so I suppose it’s understandable. In terms maintenance no issues so far apart from just general stuff like emptying the water and cleaning the filters and if you need to lift it I recommend that someone helps you if your not good with lifting. Overall pleased with my purchase.
This is very efficient in maintaining our “cold room” (12ft by 30ft lounge) on warm days. It’s quite noisy getting the room down to temperature but if you keep the doors shut you can switch to silent mode.
Very long lead time and an extremely rude delivery driver, but a great product.
Very pleased with this air con. I need another unit for my bedroom and although it isn’t silent it’s very quiet and you can easily sleep through. If your looking for a lounge area and not bothered by noise I’d get a lower cost model, but for an noise sensitive area like sleeping time, and this is brilliant.
The Air Con came yesterday in perfect condition on a sack truck, which was very pleasing to see rather than it being carried in a physical way, which would prove to be very difficult considering just how heavy this unit is.
My greatest love is the “Real Feel Technology” which must be a new idea on this brand? it works by the CPU analysing the “temperature and humidity” within the room, then “automatically” maintains a perfect environment to be in.
The Real Feel Technology saves money on the running cost due to it “only” switching on automatically at short intervals when needed. There are three lights on the top of the unit which singly go off and on thus indicating to the user the correct or incorrect environment within the roomspace, it’s amazing, it does all the thinking for you.
The dB noise level is very pleasing for an Air Con because even the most expensive indoor Air Cons will still produce high levels of noise, that’s just how they are. This unit however to my surprise is much quieter than any Air Cons I’ve ever owned before, it’s “not” silent, not by any means, but, it’s not overly noisy which should defo please the user.
It really does cool the room down very quickly without taking centre stage in the noise department, one won’t even know it’s there if using the “Real Feel Technology” mode.
I don’t know how things will fare functioning wise from this unit as time goes by, because it’s simply too soon to make such a judgment. If it keeps on working in this manner, I can highly recommend this unit with great confidence to anyone.
A very pleasing unit that carries a hefty price for staying cool, hot sweaty days are not something many people enjoy enduring.
My first Air Con Experience. Speedy efficient delivery. Clear instruction and bonus for window accessory.
So far it works well.Room gets cool in minutes and let’s hope it will stay like this. It is a little louder than I expected but as I said it is my first experience.
This worked very well at keeping our room cool during the hot summer weather. Without using it at full power, the room was being cooled very rapidly.
It does make a bit of noise so we switched to the fan function at night which worked well.
The unit is relatively heavy so you don’t really want to move it around too much on carpet, although the wheels help a bit with that.
I have not used the Real Feel Technology much, we prefer using the simple Air con function.
Very happy with the purchase
Bought this in the height of the heat wave and I just gave up on sleeping in the uncomfortable heat. This air con unit is great and works well. Cools the room down fast. Its not silent (its an air-conditioning unit) but quiet enough not to live with. I did a lot of research before buying this unit and its delivered.
This is a significant improvement on previous portable air conditioners that I have owned. No its NOT silent, but rather quieter than previous portable air conditioners that I have owned, so that is a real improvement.
Cools down my room from 31c to 19 during the day, best sleep ever and will always have aircon. Has a timer which is suitable for night time during sleeping. The device is loud so search up the equivalent item of decibels it states in the description.
This a/c unit has been a gift over the past week in London. It is definitely not silent but it has helped me sleep and the machine noise fades into the background
Definitely the most stylish portable AC unit out there. Quite lightweight considering. Cools down my bedroom really well. But it is loud especially on the strongest setting. Not very silent as the manufacturer claims
My flat is boiling. This cools it down. It is not noisy at all, it works quickly. I use it with a fabric velcro window mount and it does the trick (temperatures up to 37C, cant comment on any higher than that).
I ordered two of these. They are both very noisy and make a rattling sound at times. I used to own a much cheaper portable air conditioner a few years ago but that was extremely noisy. With these air cons we can still hear the t.v without turning it up too loud. My wife and I can also sleep undisturbed but we have situated one of them on the landing and keep the bedroom door open.
The reason I have given them 5 stars is because they are very efficient at cooling the house in a reasonably short amount of time. We had a hot spell a couple of weeks ago with the outside temperature at 35 degrees and our rooms were lovely and cool.
I don’t believe there is such a thing as a silent portable air condition and these are probably as good as you’ll get for your money.
This works well, but do not expect a quiet machine. It does make quite a lot of noise. We can sleep with it running, but ‘silent’ it is not. Does a great job of cooling a loft bedroom, don’t forget you need to vent to the outside, we do through a window and a DIY fitting to accommodate the pipe. Overall very happy with the performance.
It work quite well, but I had to keep it on sleep mode all the time since the noise from sleep mode is not quiet enough for me. But it definitely cools the room down, and all accessories are very good quality. Overall is nice. And it look very nice! It’s difficult to find a nice look air-co
Is a great item, working, not to noise is ok but not highly effective however, do work after several time and compare to others is more energy efficient. Remember all free-standing AC units – if you can’t fit properly went will not work well because unit cooling and the vent is a heating!?
My new build apartment is so hot in the summer I’ve suffered for years when the hot weather arrives. I’ve thought long and hard about getting a portable air conditioner and also a split outside system but due to the nature of the building the latter wouldn’t be possible. My windows were the main concern they are tilt and turn windows. I can’t really open them fully because of the cats and being on the third floor so the tilt inwards was the option that works and I thought I wouldn’t be able to get it to work how I wanted it to. I got a window seal
Kit by Hoomee available on amazon. And took the chance with the Delonghi I’m over the moon honest it’s changed my life I have health problems and the heat is not good for me. It had some great features and it works it really does. Lovely and cool and gets a room very cool in litrerally 30 mins sometimes 15mins depending on humidity. The air conditioning has real feel technology that works by checking humidity and temperature to create a better environment over time. Yes it’s exoensive but you pay for you get. It’s of solid build easy to set up and comes with a remote control and also has timer functions. It’s heavy but the wheels for moving around are very very good. So it won’t be a problem for someone moving it around. Even on carpet I can imagine but it would be slower process as I have wooden flooring. If you are thinking of buying this you won’t be disappointed I’m over the moon it’s changed my life. I might get one for the lounge area next year. Hope my review helps.
Portability was the main purchasing reason, with the plan being to lower the temperature of several bedrooms (either individually, or by leaving the unit in a central corridor, with all bedroom doors open). It works for individual rooms, but the practicality of creating a set-up with a long extension hose for the outlet vent may put people off.
The outlet hose (taking hot air away) has a diameter of 130mm, so the only solution if your machine location is some distance away is to join multiple extension hoses together. Usually the extensions you can buy are either fragile (paper-like, cheap, designed for tumble dryers) or short industrial (metal or heavy duty plastic, inflexible, expensive). It is feasible to join the cheaper ones together, although you may end up with an adapter (to get the fit right) and duct tape to join, and you will have the inconvenience of meters of hoses trailing from the corridor to the outlet location.
You then have the problem with the window/ door to hang the outlet hose from. Good news is that the machine comes with a window kit perfect for sash windows, not so good for tilting or side opening windows/ doors. For those, you will need to buy an after market kit to work.
Noise level? Family comment that the machine is noisy, and while it is quieter than rival machines, don’t expect a miracle! (It is about the noise level of background conversation). “Real feel” is a nice feature, that addresses humidity as well as temperature.
Overall I recommend. Although for the reasons I mention above, plus the weight of the machine (30kg), transporting upstairs/ downstairs could be difficult.
Good for cooling … similar to other units available on the market . I regret buying this as it has no wheels and therefore is not portable and is super bulky to move around the flat . Good from cooling point of view but horrible from the fact that it is not portable
Purchased this Delonghi after much deliberation and I’m so glad I did!!! Arrived today at 7:20am and was easy to unpack and set up. It is heavy but rolls along great on the castors. The little spaces they call handle grips aren’t deep enough to really help, too shallow. However I’m very pleased indeed with how it looks. I’ve turned it on and at its lowest setting of 18degrees you can feel the coldness. Noise level was really the most important factor for me and I’m a realist…no portable aircon unit is ever going to be silent despite advertising as such. However this unit is by far the quietest I’ve experienced. Other cheaper models just sound like tractors. This Delonghi isn’t completely silent but even at the highest setting I’m still able to watch TV with the unit about 4ft away from me and I’m not that bothered by the noise. If you switch to the lowest level silent mode there is a relatively noticeable difference but again not silent. Its an aircon unit and if it’s cooling down your property in my opinion it’s an acceptable trade off. Only regret I didn’t buy it last year!!
P.s for those that need to sleep in a totally silent room then I’d suggest to wear ear plugs. I do if I’m sleeping in the same room as the unit and I personally sleep fine, again it’s a trade off against sleeping in on awful hot room. I also put the unit on a programme that only turns the unit on if the temperature rises above what I’d like it to be. Very useful.
An excellent Portable Air Conditioner, a bit pricey but worth it, I live in a very large 2 bedroom flat, I opened the doors + stairs and it manged to cool the whole flat under 30 mins, unlike other air conditioners you do not need to empty the reservoir every time.
The unit definitely isn’t silent but it is a lot quieter than the cheap ones you get in the DIY places. I’ve had two of the cheap ones in the past and remember how loud they were so opted for this one. The question is “is it worth paying twice as much for a quieter one?”. Difficult to say. If you only use it to cold soak a bedroom for a couple of hours before going to bed then probably not. But if you are going to be in the room while its running then maybe it is. As with most things you pay for quality but its also a case of diminishing returns.
The minimum temperature that you can set it too is 18 degrees centigrade rather than the more common 16 degrees. I haven’t found this to be a problem, it’s easily cold enough for me and I particularly dislike heat. It seems just as cold as any of the other aircons that I’ve owned.
Update: After using it for the summer I am pleased that I spent the extra on it. Not having to empty a water resevour is a suprising useful feature. The casters work well, I move it into the louge to keep my elderly mother cool in the afternoons and back in to the bedroom at night. I’d buy another one, updated to 5 stars.
I bought this to replace a 14 year old unit from another manufacturer which had reached end of life. This one is quieter, easier to control, more effective, more energy efficient and physically smaller. It isn’t “silent” by any means but I have ordinary desk fans which are just as loud. I consider it to be very quiet in operation and it is certainly much quieter than my old one! The greatest advantage is that it has a re-evaporation system for the condensate so no need to plumb in a condensate drain or empty the tank every day.
I suffer with allergies in the summer and this provides blissful relief and a comfortable nights sleep.
The dehumidify setting is great. It will dry your washing and/or remove humid air from a room even on a cool day.
If I have one gripe, it is that the connector for the hose at the back comes out at an angle and is more bulky than it needs to be.
Great portable Air conditioning unit and very effective; we was suffering from the rare flash unbareable summer high temperatures we get in the UK having had the British Gas Electrician remove our ceiling fans in the livingroom and bedroom after upgrading our fuse box and demanding nothing metal on the lighting so we needed another way of cooling a hot house and our sleepless nights. The De’Longhi PAC AN112 is exactly the right size and ability to deal with our requirements, we have a 20 Square metre livingroom and it dropped the temperature from 25 deg C down to a nice cool 18 deg C in about 20 minutes and even cooled the adjcent computer office room 2 degs C lower too. Advice to potential buyers, always buy an extension vent hose because the standard semi rigid hose supplied is not long enough to take the hot air outside the window. I purchased a flexible 6 metre 127mm vent hose at the same time I order this machine and it works great, slightly to long but it took the heat outside of the house. The air con has two modes, normal and silent, on silent you do have to turn the TV volume up slightly but it works. all the usual controls and does exact what it says in the video and advertisements. The remote control helps too, saves on you having to get up to change the temperature settings and even activate the silent mode if you wish. Wish I had bought this several years ago, a great purchase.
I have three of these and they do manage to keep my apartment (1800 sq ft) cool throughout when all three are on full. That’s a lot more space then they are specified for which is very good, but I do need to close the sun blinds to stop direct sunlight coming in through the windows. In a single large room they cool it pretty easily. however, they are supposed to be the quietest on the market, yet seem pretty loud to me. When in the lounge, it’s actually hard to hear the television over the noise of it. If you have it in whisper mode, it’s better, but still gets louder when the compressor kicks in and of course can’t cool as efficiently in that mode. probably one of the best types of portable aircon unit you can get, but still too loud of me, I’ll end up getting a proper external compressor fitted I’m sure.
This is a high-quality product that exceeds my expectations! I have tried other brands of portable AC units, but they were far noisier, particularly when the refrigeration unit kicked in, and the cheap castors marked my wooden floor. Not so the De’ Longhi PAC AN112: it is efficient [took just 20 min to reduce temperature in a 50cubic metre/29 square metre room from 27 deg C to 22 deg C. I barely noticed when the refrigeration unit kicked in: very little noise change and the machine did not shake like many do. Using the machine in my bedroom, even though a quiet machine, I would probably find that it disturbed my sleep, but that is because the bed is near the window, which is where the machine also has to be. But, as the unit cools the bedroom down so efficiently, it’s ideal for cold soaking the room before bedtime. The build quality is excellent; the design is attractive; and the castors don’t mark my wooden floors! Expensive, but you get what you pay for.
I love this air con unit. My flat is unbearable every summer and so far in 30c heat it has made my life more enjoyable. I am not sure now I can live without it. I bought the joyooo air lock to seal the window and put the pipe outside and it worked a treat. My living room is large and it has cooled it down to an icey temperature. I’ve even at night opened the doors up to cool my bedroom as there is no window I can put it out of in there and it even helps cool it from quite a distance. This is the best summer buy I have ever made!
Great air con, can be used efficiently even if you want to watch tv or sleep or take a phone call. It cools the room fast and is surprisingly effective for a monoblock air con. (Note that I waited with this review until the weather was really hit, 32 Celsius outside and I have concrete walls and South facing room, so the unit is well tested). Pipe is never long enough with these units and I had to extend it to reach the window, but I won’t downrate it for this because I have 3 different monoblock aircons in my house to cover multiple rooms, and all of them needed the pipe extended, this is pretty standard thing if you want to use the top window. However, even with the extended pipe, this unit cools very efficiently and even though it’s expensive compared to many other brands/models, you get what you pay for, it’s definitely a top end unit.
