Connor

Played by Bryan Dechart (True Blood; The Remaining)

Become a bleeding-edge prototype android, investigating crime scenes and disturbances across Detroit’s humming metropolis.

As special police investigator Connor, your mission is to assist the Detroit Police Department in tracking down deviants – androids that have broken their programming, abandoned their owners or turned to crime.

Markus

Played by Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy; The Cabin in the Woods)

Your chance to spark the fire that could lead to an android insurrection lies through Markus, another ‘deviant’ who has broken free of his programming.

After escaping his master and joining a growing underground faction of dissidents, Markus takes charge in the organised liberation of Detroit’s android population – but in sending a strong message to humans, will you take him on the path of pacifist disruption or defiant violence?

Kara

Played by Valorie Curry (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2; Blair Witch)

See the impoverished and run-down side of Detroit through the eyes of a newly-manufactured android that has broken her programming.

Classed as a deviant and on the run with an innocent girl she’s sworn to protect, Kara is thrown into a brutal world where you must guide her to either accept the inequalities around her or strive to do something about them in an effort to keep her surrogate child safe.

This is one of the best PS4 games out there, brilliant gameplay, brilliant graphics, brilliant in depth story line multiple possibilities and endings, depending on your choices.

The characters and dialogue are very rich, engaging and realistic, you play 3 characters with three different storylines which all come together and intersect at the end. The graphics and the world are incredible and almost lifelike, and the story is very philosophical and puts you in the drivers’s seat, so you have the option according to your own philosophical and political views to decide what the character does.

I have seen negative reviews by people who either have not played the game or intellectually insincere individuals who as usual attack anything that they perceive to be left leaning. This is because the game is a metaphor for slavery, the androids are enslaved by humans, who torture and abuse them, and some become human and choose to call for equality and freedom.

However, the game allows you to make all of the choices, so you can choose to be passive or fight, to choose peace or war, to surrender, to protest, to sit in, to riot or to give up. It does not necessarily push any “left wing” ideas that slavery is wrong (if that’s what offends you so much) it just shows you the reality of slavery, and you are then free to decide how you respond, so attacking this game for political reasons shows that you either did not play this game, or missed the point, or are whining because you hate that the horrors of slavery are being portrayed in a game, and that offends you more than slavery itself.

I would advise anyone reading this review so buy the game and decide for yourself

Not for everyone but I loved the interactive drama games Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain..and this is Quantum Dream’s best work to date..great immersive storyline (and scary to think not far off reality). Genuinely almost every choice/action you make affects outcomes.

    Loved it 5*

I love this type of game and this one did not disappoint. I have replayed it so many times trying to find different endings and it is amazing how much variety there is based on the smallest of decisions! I would really recommend

Loved playing through this game. It’s not really the type of game I would normally buy but it looked interesting and I’m glad I did. The only downside for me is that although each level has multiple possible outcomes and you are encouraged to replay to find all of the outcomes, this actually gets a bit tedious because you find yourself having to do a lot of the same stuff each time with little variation. For example, playing through a level for 20 minutes and hitting X at the end, and then having to play through the same way for 20 minutes to press Y at the end and see what difference that made. Let’s just say I didn’t find all of the possible outcomes.

Even so, I would recommend this game. Especially at this price.

This video game plays like an interactive film,it’s appears to be similar to Heavy Rain in it’s game play style. You basically watch the story unfold as you make your own choices in this video game. It’s worth giving it a go if your into science fiction things.

I didn’t think I would like this game as it was about androids – I’m not a great fan. But OMG!! I was hooked. I fell in love with Connor, Markus, and Kara. The love relationship between Kara and the little girl, Alice, trying to escape her abusive father and then from another monster hits at your heartstrings. You can play Connor, an android, as a machine who investigates crime scenes with the police or make him become a deviant and join Markus and his gang of androids against the humans.

I’ve played this game multiple times and never ever get sick of it.

Amazing graphics, amazing gameplay, amazing story, incredible concept, can not recommend this game enough. It’s so personal to the player, and I love going back and trying to get new endings to complete the game. Just brill in every way. Riveting, dynamic, dramatic, honest, clever, unique, emotional and exciting; this game has everything you could ever want in a story-based game. Every choice means something and has a huge impact on your relationships with each character and even the lives of the protagonists and their counterparts. Even if you have no hands, this game is so beautifully designed and the graphics are so realistic and detailed, you can just sit and look at the menu screen and be blown away. However, it might be difficult to get up from that with a lack of hands so take care.

    Absolutely loved this game.
I’ve played previous games by Quantic Dream (‘Heavy Rain’ and ‘Beyond Two Souls’) and this one is my favourite yet.

The decision making and the storylines were fantastic. I really enjoyed looking over the choices I’d made at the end of every chapter and the fact that you could play it again and alter it (I completed the game and replayed some chapters without saving, to see what other outcomes would be).

All the protagonists you play are so interesting and their stories, so complicated. I enjoyed being able to make what I wanted out of the game. It was a true masterpiece and the music added that extra layer – like being part of a movie.

If you’ve loved all previous Quantic games then I strongly suggest you buy this, because it’s just another amazing improvement to their gameplay and design – brilliant!

This is a story based decision making interactive videogame/movie. It’s like watching your fav show except in this you are the star and get to interact with all the characters and your choices somewhat impact the flow of the story. There’s multiple outcomes to many situations. Sometimes you’ll have to choose if you want to break the law to get out of a certain situation and there are many moral decisions that you have to make. I’m not too far into it but am enjoying the story quite a lot and can’t wait to press on. If you enjoy this type of game then check out
    Beyond two souls
    Heavy Rain
Both are very similar to Deroit Become Human and have gripping tense stories. I was hooked to both games till the end.

I loved Quantic Dream’s previous game, Beyond: Two Souls, and while I am not quite sure Detroit drew me in quite as much as that did, it is still a brilliant and relevant game. With all of the daily discussion and opinion pieces regarding the dangers and benefits on AI, a piece of interactive entertainment like this can help us grapple with some of those issues without being force-fed someone else’s opinion. The mechanics and controls can be occasionally clunky, but can also be easily overlooked when you appreciate what else this has to offer and the care that has been put into making it such an immersive experience. Highly recommended. Currently free this month for PlayStation Plus subscribers too! And when on sale the physical copy is very cheap too. Support developers making imaginative and boundary-pushing narrative focussed games like this instead of blockbuster shooters and sports titles.

Arrived before due date and in perfect condition. This is a love or hate affair,it is decision based which affects the outcome, flow charts show your progress. If you want the platinum as i do expect to run through the entire game multiple times.I am getting close and i am currently working on finding all the magazines, most of which I have found.A few i have to change the past decisions so the correct magazine is available to read.Bit of a pain but the visuals are stunning and well worth it,i would recommend this game just for that alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Decisions based and visually stunning.

An incredible spectical of visionary perfection from Quantic Dream/David Cage. Much like Charlie Brooker creates compelling, realised drama in the form of Black Mirror, QD have created yet another masterpiece. I have been hooked to their games since I very first played Farenheit: indigo prophecy, and rightly so… The way decision and choice play the major part of all of their storytelling invoke a sense of morality, especially on the first playthrough. Obviously you are entitled to revisit the whole game or certain chapters and change the decisions you made that can spiral into a web of different encounters. In this title you are encouraged to playthrough multiple times to uncover different outcomes to all situations. I shan’t spoil any of the story in this review, but to say that the desicions you make impact your journey within each of the main protagonists “lives” is an understatement. They can fail, succeed, die, reprise, surprise and so on. The only minor negative I have with titles like this (desicion based story telling games) is that the controls can occasionally feel slightly janky. I appreciate in this game the option to change and adjust the camera nevertheless. My final point is how incredible the overall atheistic is. From the near future idealism of Detroit to the graphics on the whole, the whole experience was a pleasure visually. The animation from the mocap feels like you’re watching a motion picture, it is sometimes hard to distinguish between a CGI section to a playable section. To finalise this short but sweet review I can say that this game is simply incredible, an outstanding achievement on all accounts. Another remarkably impressive IP from Quantic Dream. Thank you.

The game is absolutely stunning with great characters and voice acting, good story that can evolve very differently depending on your choices.
It just starts very slowly with 3 independent stories about androids that are eventually linked. It gets very good and can really go anywhere depending on your choices in the game and failures on quick time events. Just take you time if you want to enjoy the game and don’t beat yourself up if you fail a few quick time events. The multiple branch system for the story gets insanely big towards the end.

I don’t usually like ‘interactive-movie’ style games which rely almost exclusively on the strength of their story told, but Detroit: Become Human broke that trend. The story is gripping from the get-go and kept me hooked until the end, I felt a level of investment in each character’s story-arc and constantly wanted to see what happened next. There are several important choices made by the player along the way, each having a real impact on the possible endings experienced. The level of acting is top-notch and the photo-realism of characters faces is astounding, lending further to the overall sense of immersion.

So, by no means am I a hardcore gamer but I stumbled across this game in December 2018 and 5 months later finally got around to playing it…. All I can say is WOW ! Not only is the game visually absolutely beautiful, but the game play is nothing like I have ever experienced.

You play as 3 different characters (Kara, Markus & Connor) , who all have their own different personalities and missions / goals to complete. You may think you have heard & seen it all before, however the real twist is that the decisions you make during the game directly affect your story as you travel through the game. I have certainly never experienced anything like it and I simply had to finish the game after only a few days of playing, it really was THAT good.

I don’t think I have EVER finished a game and immediately wanted to re-start to see what happens when my decisions are different. Apparently when it was released last summer it was kind of overshadowed by God Of War (yawn), which is kind of a shame, however I have no doubt whatsoever this will turn into a “cult” classic over time.

Time to explore more of what Quantic Dream have to offer !

You can earn points to unlock extra content such as original artwork, soundtracks and gallery of characters, every detail is thought out in the game you have tones of options to choose from and endings depending on you own choices for the characters you even have a mentor on the home screen who talks to you depending on your actions.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIf you are thinking about getting this game, think no more and just get it. After the amount of time I put into Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls I put off getting Detroit when it was released but now I have it, I regret not getting it ages ago even at release price. If you enjoyed the other two titles then this one will have you hooked from the start. I am not very far into the game yet but the story keeps you wanting to know more. The few characters I have interacted with have excellent voice acting and you feel as if you are there. The Graphics are just stunning on the PS4, as each game has got progressively more detailed and immersive, Detroit is almost like playing a film. The music and sounds really set the mood and help to keep you immersed and in parts, on the edge of your seat. My one small gripe which has been present in all three games is that sometimes when the camera changes while you are walking, you can end up walking in a circle or the wrong way, but like I said it’s only a small hitch and the only one I can find. Every one over at Quanticdream have done an amazing job yet again. Just fantastic.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersBought this for 14 and I feel like I stole it at that price.

    BEWARE: some spoilers ahead.

So many games over the years have claimed to make you feel a wide range of emotions as you play through them. Remember the airport mission in Call of Duty? How about the cannibals during The Walking Dead interactive game? Also not forgetting Sephiroth impaling out beloved Aeris in Final Fantasy 7. Now, maybe I just have a thick skin, or perhaps none of those games (and many more besides) have ever managed to break the 4th wall. I dunno, they are games, and I ultimately don’t care what truly happens to the characters because I’m playing for entertainment and the escapism of it all.

Enter stage left Detroit Become Human.

If it wasn’t for the radical price drop, I wouldn’t have bothered giving it a go because, in truth, it’s not my sort of game. I’m more of a Just Cause, FIFA, Spiderman kinda guy. However, I’ve had the place to myself all week and I decided to give it a fair crack. Here is what it did to me…

By the end of The Stormy Night episode, I had to stop. I couldn’t bear the intensity and impending sense of dread that I was feeling. I wanted that bastard father dead as soon as possible for what he did to his kid and the android. Yes, I was feeling compassion and fear for a digital representation of a plastic entity that doesn’t even exist in the real world! How can that be possible? At one point, I had the option to hold up a convenience store for money so I could get a room for the little girl at a nearby motel. I went for it and then some guy walked in for some beer. I was given the option to carry on with the hold up or to leave. Which one should I choose? Which one guarantees their safety? What do I do so that I don’t lose Kara? The last time I felt this kind of stress when gaming was when I loaded up Superman on the N64!!

I have now stopped playing for a little while. Not because the novelty is wearing off, but because I’m scared of losing some of the main characters and finishing the game too soon. I want this to last, like a premium whisky at the end of a formal evening. Like a long hot summers day at the beach with the kids. Don’t rush it.

I’ve been gaming for over 30 years and this is only the second game I award a 10/10 score to for being so damn near perfect in every department. The graphics are essentially photo-realistic in a way that I’ve never seen before. The detail, facial expressions, and lighting make the world come alive as though you’re looking through a window to the outside. The sweeping crescendos as the score slots into the narrative to perfectly elevate the experience cannot be overstated. I’m actually listening to the soundtrack as I type this; it’s THAT good! Finally, we come to the interaction of actually playing the game. The controls can be a bit wonky but I don’t care. After a couple of hours they worked for me and I couldn’t think of a better way of mapping them to the controls if I’m honest. There are a number of quick-time events present, whereby you have to press particular buttons at certain times to achieve your desired outcomes. In previous games, I’ve struggled to appreciate this particular control method but maybe that’s because this is only the second game I’ve played where they just work (Spiderman being the other.)

I’m now in a position of having to go back to it soon because I need to experience this game to its final conclusion. But therein lies the problem – what will I do when I’ve finished it? I just don’t want it to end. I want a sequel, prequel, ANYTHING to move on to. I’ve never played Heavy Rain and many people tell me it’s similar to DBH so maybe that’s my next fix.

In short, if you can afford this game, buy it. Make sure you can play it at a time when you won’t be disturbed. Put your headphones on and turn out the lights because you are about to enter videogame nirvana.

I loved every minute of this game, from the menu screen to the end credits. I have a PS4 Pro and a 4k OLED TV, and the graphics on this game are amongst the very best I’ve ever seen. The sound design and game controls are absolutely spot on too, and the game is absolutely engrossing.

It’s not a run and gun type game, it’s more in the mould of “The Walking Dead” games by Telltale Studios. The gameplay is semi-curated, with points along the way that branch off dependent on some quite testing ethical choices. I’m certain that if I replayed and made different choices, that the whole experience and outcome would be very different.

Over all, Detroit: Become Human is deep, emotional, clever and very engaging.

    Graphics 10/10, Audio 10/10, Story 10/10, Gameplay 10/10.

    Perfect.

I just finished it. I Am SPEECHLESS. Stunning graphics, strong character building and a beautiful story line. Even if your not into sci-fi stuff, buy it and you won’t regret. It’s comparable to Until Dawn and Hidden Agenda. Choices determine your outcome and there are thousands of ways to go. I went the wrong way which resulted in literally everyone relevant to the story dying, which statistically is hard to do . Please take a chance on this amazing game and experience it. Please please please. Its soooo incredible in every regard 🙂

I’ve found games by David Cage to be something of a guilty pleasure for some time. Yes they lack interactivity and stretch the concept of a game in many cases and yes the writing can be terrible (like the reveal in Heavy Rain) but I’ve still quite enjoyed them.

I got this just a few days ago and finished my first playthrough already and would add it to the list of Cage games that I quite enjoyed.

The game looks great, sound is great, playability is limited as with all these game (very much a QTE game with fairly painful movement) and the story is still very derivative of others (Asimov/Dick etc) and something of a blunt instrument when it comes to a tale of equality, rights and what it means to be human (Humans on C4 does it much better).

Overall though I had a good time with it and found it to be another OK game from Cage. Definitely worth the price now.

I’ve never bothered to write a review on Amazon before but after about 25 years of gaming this is one of the very best games I have ever played on any console. If you enjoyed Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls then expect a similar style of gameplay here but a big step forward and an overall better game. If you’ve played neither then expect a game that is cinematic, beautifully designed and written, totally immersive and completely different to anything else you have ever played. Simply stunning in every aspect from start to finish and a truly memorable experience.

If you are the sort that sits there and plays things for hours and hours on end with no breaks you’ll complete this fairly quickly – however there is lots of replay value to see all the different paths through the story.

I love story games, like Last of us, quantum break, uncharted 1-4 etc… and this is simply an amazing edition. I got it at the same time I upgraded from PS4 to PS4 Pro. In 4K this game is a marvel. The game devs have included lots of emotional manipulation (in a good way) even on the games menu.

Great looking eg of this type of game with an interesting premise. Lot’s of replay potential with lots of surprises and the story tree is a good addition. The things which annoyed me were the changing camera position, it should be something the player controls and not have that taken away from you or feel like you’re getting forced to follow a route, the button hints again taking away control from the player and also the time limits on things.

I have already played heavy rain and liked it a lot. This is a bigger, better and more emotional heavy rain kind of game. The graphics sre amazing, the acting is surpased only by the acting of the last of us for me and most importantly the narrative is soo good with 100’s of times as many choices and paths than heavy rain and what amazes me is that all the paths are very well wriiten and acted .. they didnt just perfect a few stories and half **sed the rest , no, each path was carved with passion and care with a very moving and cinvincing narrative with no continuety dicrepancies what so ever. Its a technical miracle. I wish it would be nominated for GOTY.

This is one of the most fascinating games I’ve ever played. The first playthrough already had me in awe, but the outcome wasn’t something I had in mind, so I played the game again, this time carefully contemplating my moves and decisions. The ending was amazing. The decisions I made during the different chapters of course influenced what happened next, and it seems the possibilities are endless… I will try again and make different choices along the way, to see which previously hidden paths will open up. As for the storyline, I still have goosebumps…

As a huge gamer, the games by david cage have been phenomenal ever since Heavy Rain and beyond: Two Souls which were previously available on PS3 have been remastered for the PS4 and are a great buy as well as great games to play. Heavy Rain is yet another graphically stunning game which story revolves around the decisions that you make, set in the near future where Human Androids are slowly taking over there are 3 main protagonists Connor, Kara and Marcus. You follow each characters story over the course of several lengthy chapters with the outcomes being what “you” the player decide which actions to take.

If you’re thinking of buying this game but are unsure look for some footage from my YouTube channel. I’d highly recommend getting it if you prefer something different from your usual shooter / action games.

  29. RyderFarias says:

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe game is the usual interactive-movie type gameplay, with 3 concurrent stories revolving around different characters. I don’t want to give too many details as I don’t want to spoil anything. It took me more than 10h to finish the game, but there are so many different outcomes and different scenes, that seeing all it can offer will be a big challenge. Like most games, it will get boring by the time you see how each task unfolds. However, this time many of your choices do matter. As you may know, many other games have claimed to have branching story, but ultimately only a few big decisions have any meaningful impact on the game and for the most part the story is the same, except the last bit. Here, after the first playthough, when you start a new one, you very early start seeing new scenes and start drifting away from your first playthrough’s chain of events. That being said, do have realistic expectations. It is better than any other game i’ve applied with branching story, in terms of how much the branching actually changes things for the player, but all the branches do still have common points between them other than the start.

As for graphics and performance – played it on PS4 Pro and it was locked at 30FPS, which made it look a bit jagged at fast-paced moments. However, the visual fidelity is amasing, which I think is fitting for the game.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend it to anyone that doesn’t hate Heavy Rain / Beyond Two Souls (previous 2 games from the same studio, with very similar gameplay).

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe game is fantastic and deep. It follows the story of three different androids and their experiences in a human world and how they decide to evolve against their oppressors and rise to form a new world where androids don’t fear discrimination. It’s a great and deep game and expect a hell of a lot of replay value, as I’ve literally just finished it once and will definitively play it a few more times to see how I could have done things differently to get a better ending. I really am glad I pre-ordered this game, the developers of ‘Heavy Rain’ and ‘Beyond: Two Souls’ didn’t disappoint with their new endeavour.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis is a beautifully executed game, full of twists and a gripping story line. I cannot praise the developers enough here.

Story line is full of plot holes but does well to keep the player wanting to know more – and player choices really do feel like they have an impact. For maximum effect, players should just play with no assistance, no walkthroughs, and really play their own story with it’s own outcome.

As said in many other reviews, the graphics are outstanding especially the character models and how the behave. Facial behaviours and mannerisms are all captured brilliantly – and it’s easy to forget the premis of Androids as they slowly slip into morality.

The game is played in small scenarios which feel quite limiting. You are heavily constrained as to where to go and what you can look at. Having said that, players that do explore are rewarded with alternate outcomes (but I’ll say no more).

The not so good? Quite liniar in most places, and some choices have illogical outcomes depending on how you want to play. Character movement is bizarre with the androids feelings very robotic (forgive the pun). Moving them around in this world is a chore sometimes.

Some mechanics are frustrating to. This is not a game for the action seeker. All actions, jumps turns are prescripted – the player is watching the action but not directly in command of it. This really is a story driven narrative and players that want to mash buttons might not appreciate the outcome of this game.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersDavid Cage is simply the best at writing and directing these types of games. He knows how to make the player feel emotion even from the most subtle of things happening in the story.
This game is mainly an interactive movie experience and really you should already know this before purchasing it. I think this has a tendency to put some people off but the story is so good and engrossing from the opening scene that I honestly don’t understand how anyone could not like it.
That’s not to say the whole thing is one long cutscene, you can explore the world and interact and it pays to do so as it will open up additional decisions you can make within the story. As well as chase scenes, fight scenes and Connors investigative work there’s more than enough to keep things interesting.

The story centres around 3 Androids. Connor – An Android detective. Markus – A sort of caregiver to a wealthy elderly man. Kara – Kind of like an Android Nanny purchased to clean around the house and look after a little girl Alice and her abusive father Todd.

The story raises some interesting points about the way Artifical Intelligence is progressing and how Androids would be treated if they were to function within our societies. The public opinion of Androids in the story is largely sceptical due to the amount of Androids replacing humans in every day jobs resulting in Androids being mistreated and abused as if they were merely objects. A very believable premise considering the amount of idiots in reality who mistreat animals and such.

Each character you play has an interesting story interwoven into one another. Connors story focuses on him investigating an ever increasing number of Androids becoming “Deviants” comitting crimes. He does so with the help of his cop partner Hank who initially hates Androids. Depending on the way you interact with him and decisions you make you could develop either a hostile relationship with him or get to know him and you’ll get a buddy comedy between two cops.

Markus’s Story begins with him caring for an elderly man who treats him well in return for his assistance and it is apparent they have developed a friendship over the years. Fairly early on in the game something threatens to put this in jeopardy.

Karas story begins shortly after her memory has been wiped after an incident. She wakes up in the Android store being collected from a scruffy looking guy called Todd. They arrive back at Todd’s run down house where you meet his daughter, a deeply sad and troubled young girl. The events that unfold after are quite dark and serious. I remember hearing about calls to ban certain scenes from this section which is ridiculous. If anything it is educational to show that this kind of behaviour is not ok. Plus the game is Rated 18 so its not intended for younger audiences anyway.

This leads me on to the great way the game puts you into the characters shoes. You’ll constantly be faced with decisions and only seconds to make them leading you to at times make irrational decisions that arent always the right ones just like in reality. Resulting in any number of consequences.
And there are a LOT of consequences to this game. The story can go a multitude of ways depending on your actions. At the end of each section you can view a flow chart showing all the choices you made and greyed out all the ones you didn’t make, by that I don’t mean just a couple of different scenes here and there, it could literally be a whole other story. You can tell a crazy amount of work went into this game creating all these different scenarios.

    THOUGHTS AFTER COMPLETING (No Spoilers)

Towards the end of the story the decision making gets ramped up to 10000. Everything you do will greatly effect your outcome, even decisions you made at the beginning will start having an effect on you.
One thing I found out is that choices are never obvious which I feel somewhat conflicted about. You may have good intentions and think you are about to make the right decision but it ends up being one of the worst choices you could ever make which can be devastating if you are trying to get a good ending.
I guess this is what the developer intended though as just like in real life we never really know if the choices we make are the right ones until we make them.

Advice: Try to play through the entire story without cheating or resetting no matter what happens. This is the way the developer intended the game to be played and it gives everyone a unique ending that way. You can always go back after or start another playthrough and try to get the better endings. You’ll also have a reason to play the game more than once that way.
Also don’t think of each part of the story as a level you need to beat, if you base your decisions on what seems obvious or what the game wants you to do then things can start going downhill. Its more about developing a character and deciding what kind of relationship you want to have with other people you meet along the way.

This really is in a different category of a normal game. Its an experience that doesnt exist in any other format. How many movies/games have you watched/played lately where you were on the edge of your seat every second not knowing what to expect next or what decision to make, not knowing how its going to affect the story. If that appeals to you then you cant miss it.
After completing the game i think its simply a masterpiece of story telling and an emotional rollercoaster that will quite literally bring you to tears if you make the wrong choices. In my opinion not even 5 stars does it justice. If you agree leave a like so more people experience this and Quanticdream develop more titles as good as this.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI don’t often write reviews, after looking into this game a few weeks before its release I was intrigued. I have played other QD games and have enjoyed them. I’m mainly a PC gamer but I thought what the hell, treat myself. Game arrived, dusted off the PS4 (didn’t clean the desk!) and boy what a treat this game was. The immersive game play, the endless outcomes from the smallest choice, the acting and deliverance from the cast is superb.
The game recommends playing through once without replaying a level and changing your choices. I agree with this, play the game how your instincts tell you, then go back and see where different decisions would have taken you.
I also recommend playing in its experienced mode as it adds more complexity and depth to the quicktime events.
I am now myself, about to go back through the story, to pick choices that I didn’t or wouldn’t have picked on my first play through to see the outcome.
Awesome game – about 15 – 20 hours of gameplay on your first play through (depending on how thorough you are being).

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant game, amazingly delivered.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersIf you have played the other games, (and enjoyed this style of game play) then you will love this, the best of the series yet. the many different endings are just amazing. the first game to ever have true game changing decisions, it doesn’t feel like you make minor changes, the only thing that really annoyed me. was the ending i got was due to a section being unclear and 0 hints as to where to go or what to do, the timer ran out and i had a sudden ending with credits because i failed to do something in time, i get that is the flow of the game, but after spending 10+ hours trying to do something and then it being completely shut down because you were only given 15 seconds to find out what to do and where to go, was really frustrating. however, the tension was there amazing story line and acting, that had me caring as much as i could. and i cant wait to try this again after a break. as someone who played heavy rain and preordered beyond two souls, i honestly thought that game was unbeatable, but i LOVED THIS!

Golden Review Award: 78 From Our UsersIf you are looking for a game that is a walk and shoot or hitting someone over the head by mashing the R2 button over and over this is not the game for you.

The demo just didn’t do it any justice, it’s the very beginning of the game so didn’t throw you into the good stuff. I am so glad I kept my order as this is a fantastic game and I will be playing through it again and again but choosing different options.
This is a story driven game, it required you to do a number of quick time events and button mashing. Sounds boring? It’s far from boring. Yes the graphics are brilliant but the way the game makes you care for the three characters you play is amazing.

You have your three main characters,
    Marcus, Kara and Connor.

Marcus leads the androids to their “future” I won’t go any further with him as he seems to be the story evolves around mainly. Throughout his story you are required to gain the trust of close Android friends, human civilians and androids as a whole. Each path you chose has an impact on how each group sees you. So violent acts cause humans to hate you. But each act will cause your friends to lose faith in you or love you more, you chose the option knowing you will gain respect from one and disappoint another. That’s what makes the story interesting, knowing the impact your choice will have.

Kara is the mother of the story, she serves a man and a little girl and ends up having to fend for the girl and keep her to safe. You go from place to play trying to keep her alive, finding somewhere warm or saving her from danger.

Connor is a police android who is assigned to a cop that is investigating the rouge androids. He investigates murders and has to hunt down rouge androids, piecing together why they are turning against humans.

You get countless story twist and turns with each character that makes you question if you are making the right move, and I did often think “I should of don’t that!”.
If you played heavy rain the gameplay is very much like that. I have just completed the game after playing about 6 hours non stop (not to mention roughly 4-5 hours yesterday, I’m guessing so maybe longer) and I can honestly say as the story evolved I had to keep going. The ending that I got literally made me put my hand over my mouth thinking “what the hell just happened!!!”. Detroit becoming human has so much content that you can repeat it several times and get different outcomes and endings. Once you finish a chapter it will show you the path you chose and a lock of the path you didn’t choose. You have to find the locked path on your next play! Each path you unlock gives you points which you can spend unlocking character models, music, magazines, art work and videos.
This game is so well done that even the menu has an Android that interacts with you, coming back after playing it the Android will talk saying welcome back and reminding you that characters can die. You get questions asked which you answer, a questionnaire asking if you would trust androids or let them look after your kids and so on.
I honestly cannot reccomend this game enough, the demo shows off the controls and how the game works so I would give it a go. But keep in mind that it is the opening sequence and it does get sooo much more interesting.

Amazing story, characters, graphics and replay value. If you don’t mind the button mashing and quick time events I would buy this game.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersFirst of all this game is beautifully done both with graphic and audio, every part of the game is stunning, all the characters in the game have backgrounds and storylines, before you know it you are caught up in the entire story and how it unfolds, emotionally sucked into the story and the path it takes.
It is not a shooter, action, platform game, and even as an adventure it does not fall into that category in the normal sense of the definition, it is an unfolding story which is split into chapters (scenes) with dialogue and decisions to be made. Each chapter of this story, follows a proper logic-tree from start to finish which is revealed to you at the end of each chapter, points are given at completion and these can be used to unlock graphic art, video clips, music and other extras from the main menu, there are also many different varied paths in each chapter, which are totally dependent on the dialogue and choices you make within, therefore each chapter has many varied outcomes, the choices you make in each result in vast differences in the following chapters and the storyline. You may finish a chapter and see that a lot of the different paths are padlocked still, so when playing again from the start choose a different route and unlock different outcomes.
This way each time you play, the game can unfold totally different from the last time you played from start to finish, it is recommended however you play each chapter and the entire story from start to finish, rather than replay and already done chapter again just for a different outcome. Sure there are fights to endure, and these tend to be in the form of keystrokes (usually on a timer) which involves moving the controller left, right, up, down, and the main PS keys in fights, not being quick enough in these keystrokes can result in your character being killed or the outcome of that chapter being totally different.
I noticed the unverified 1 star troll is in usual form and posting usual bad comments, despite the fact the game is not even a verified purchase by them. This game is not for the usual shooter, or platform based player, it is very similar to Rain, more a decision making game where your choices affect the outcome.
This is a beautifully drawn and executed game from start to finish, it is not the normal run of the mill game (so not in any way like Unchartered, Horizon, Call of Duty or any games that fall into those type of categories). However it is deeply immersive and engaging with its story line, the game chapters/scenes are not totally open world, so you can only move in the confines of where it wants to you go, but sometimes the various options in that area are varied enough to allow you to make a decision as if in the real world, (do I do this, or do that, or what is the outcome of doing this).

I have not put any in depth character reviews here as I see many others who have given it high marked reviews have also covered various aspects of actual game play, and I agree with all over how brilliantly it is put together.

Highly recommended on all levels, and ignore the bad ratings if you want a game that is not just a run of the mill shoot-em-up, action, platform game.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a game where you can make your own choices. To play good, evil or something in between and get different endings. I was so immersed in the story. This is such an addictive game. You will not be disappointed. Detroit become human is one of the best games I’ve played In Recent memory. The game looks beautiful and plays really smooth. The graphics are amazing, The soundtrack is beautiful. You might recognize a few famous actors who play the characters, I think it adds more to the game. Really like that you play three characters, I liked Connor the best. Each of their stories are emotionally engaging. You will not be bored playing this game. The QTE are really stressful cos if you miss some it will definitely turn out bad. You really have to be careful of your choices because they really matter. I kept thinking I messed up a few times. There are alot of twists and turns along the way and I did figure out a few things before they where revealed but thats not a bad thing. I finished the game in four days and got one of the good endings. Will definitely play again.
The best Quantic Dream game I’ve played. Well worth the wait.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersSo far I’ve only played the demo and I’m currently waiting on the game to be delivered today, but what I’ve played of it was amazing.

I’ll try to keep it relatively spoiler free.

From the mission I did, it seems it’s a game based in 2038 (I think) where androids are prominent members of society, whether or not people like them that’s another story.
In the demo mission, you are playing as an android tasked with saving a child from another android who has malfunctioned and gone rogue.

There are plenty of things for you to investigate that up your chances of completing your task successfully, there’s a learning curve, but if you don’t have anyone distracting you you’ll learn fast.

If you enjoyed Heavy Rain and/or Beyond: Two Souls, you will love this game. I highly recommend trying out the demo if you haven’t, in case you’re unsure if you will like it.

I’ll update this when I’ve received the full game.
