I have six or eight sets of Torx, Philips, and square drive bits, all it seems with a damaged or missing bit.
This set has a collection of those missing and often damaged bits without a bunch of duplicate bits I already have, along with a short and longer locking extension that actually works. Love it!
I’ve been removing old deck screws using these bits and my Dewalt impact driver. They last longer than generic bits, but they do deteriorate when dealing with stripped screwheads. So, I’ll end up with a lovely case with some empty slots in it.
Great product that added the few missing extra long bits I was missing, the case is a little hard to unlock and lock but hopefully will loosen up a little with more use. Dewalt quality product no problems in that department for now and I’ve never had a bit snap so hopefully use these bits for years to come.
No afectaba.
Havnt had a chance to fully try out the set, except for a few screws here and there. All in all seems to do agood job.
The only downside to this set is the case it comes with. for some reason Dewalt (which usually makes great product) decided to create a rather poorly made case. Its hard to take the bits out and even harder to put them back in.
Would reccomend spending a few extra bucks and purchasing the torqx set with a different case
Only 2 of each bit…I expected atleast 3 or 4 number 2 phillips..BUT they seem alot better quality than makita bits and apexs.magnet is good in apex.dropped impact 15 feet on to the ground and the apex did not break or bend.
It comes with everything you need. The smaller bits when used with the magnetic adapter usually slip out, I think this happens with most but it is sometimes annoying. Other than that it comes with everything I’ve ever needed to use, great for on the go. I love it and use it daily.
This is the set i use around the house and yard. For those who have left negative reviews because of the difficulty in reinserting the bits: YOU LEAN THE BITS FORWARD TO REMOVE BUT SLIDE THEM IN TO INSERT. I learned that myself. I have a habit of reading everything that I buy so when I realized the bit wouldn’t go back in I remembered where It said somewhere on the package “Easy in Easy out”. They are designed to be basically popped out for quick deployment but they must be slid in from the open end (not through the slot) so they will store securely. Added to that the orientation must match the shape of the hole so you may have to twist it a little to get it seated fully. The result is that the bits will not fall out, even if you forget to lock the case or you throw it around a little. I love this set!
I work as a mechanic on a racing team so I am well versed in the use of tools and use them everyday in a professional setting. Now at work we use solely Snap-On products, but at home and in my personal shop I use a variety of tool brands including DeWalt.
These bits are mainly used with a Makita 12v and 18v impact driver for carpentry mostly. In my two years of ownership, I have broke one of the bits largely due to misuse, and have worn the coating on a couple others with regular use. I have also used the Makita set and found them to be exactly the same, but the Makita Gold version also available on Amazon is slightly better. These are better than Ryobi and the lesser brands and are well worth a 20.
The case is also a large plus. It’s well organized and customizable to a decent extent. It is also extremely tough and easy to throw into a toolbox or toolbag.
Overall, the next time I buy impact bits for personal use I will check out the Makita Gold Line first, but these are a very strong choice for me and in the price range cannot be beat.
I bought this set because I have somehow lost the long Robertson bit and, for me, there is just no life without it. I tried to buy one separately but the prices were literally twice the regular price (or 4 times the discounted price) of this set, for just that one bit!
I realize that there are aftermarket / no-name kind of bits out there, but I find Dewalt ones are of better quality, and last longer. Still, I think, there is no excuse for the sellers out there to gouge the price, and would love to hear their explanation as to why they do it.
But, back to the set: I find it works very well for my needs, and has all the bits I usually use. What needs improvement is the bit holders – the yellow part that has the slots to hold the bits in place. For the life of me I can’t seem to master the way of replacing the bits back into their slots without bending and mangling the “holders”. I think, if they were “hinged” (capable of swinging in and out), this would make the job much easier. Other than that, great basic set, and the discounted price should be made permanent.
I’d rather give this 4 1/2 stars but that isn’t possible. Sadly I’m a sucker for DeWalt tools, so this was a must have when I bought a new drill/impact set. So far I haven’t lost any of the bits despite everyday use over the summer and occasional use during the school year. The case that the bits come in is solid and convenient, and the bits themselves do seem to last longer than your standard #2. I love the variety of bits included, although some torx might have been nice. Never thought I would use the flat head bits but they were there when I needed them. The silver bit holder does not have a sleeve in case any of you were wondering.
This is a great set made specifically for impact drill use. The tips are durable and can hold up in high tension situations without breaking. Despite that handy feature, they are prone to stripping out screws and bolt heads for the same reason, no unnecessary pressure needed when using these tips. I love the magnetic attachment but do believe the #2 phillips head makes too many appearances. The star bits do come in handy every so often as well as the hex head drivers but, the priceless addition are the square tips. Excellent substitute for the phillips heads when you’re dealing with rounded or stripped screws or bolts. Overall, a great set at fair prices.
This is a nice set of bits for use with an impact driver. I bought these to use with my 20V Max XR Lithium Ion Brushless Compact Drill/Driver & Impact Driver Combo Kit and they’ve worked really well for driving a variety of fasteners. The longer bits can really come in handy for tough to reach spots.
The only problem is the obnoxious case these bits come in. The built-in holders that the bits slide in and out of are screwy and a real pain when trying to insert a bit.
Case is more rugged than I expected, with a sliding latch. Downside is that this makes it a bit bulkier. For my use, that’s a net plus; others may feel otherwise.
Outside of that: I trust DeWalt; I’m sure the bits are as well-made and -tempered as anything on the market, and I’m sure they’ll perform well in use. But remember that bits are a consumable item; that’s why they give you multiples of each, and you’re going to have to expect to get more eventually.
Since my impact driver has a slide-latch on its clutch, the fact that they include a magnetic extension/bit holder is useful for the (rare) cases when I need to switch bits frequently. Normally I consider that a slightly silly addition to the kit, but here it’ll give me a bit more flexibility and is appreciated.
Apparently I am very hard on bits. Regardless of what brand I purchase all standard bits seem to break quickly whenever I use them. I can use a hand driver and the tips just crumble. This is why I generally always buy Impact Bits since they seem to last longer. Since I was upgrading my drill I figured I would add on a nice set of bits. This one came with everything I use a lot, even the small square tip. The bit holder has a small “C” ring inside to hold the bits, this can be a pain when trying to quickly remove your bit. I used a small pick and pulled it out. The magnet inside is sufficient and most of the time use the quick release bit holder from the last bit set I purchased. The bits are durable and can withstand assembling a large wooden play set without any breakage. My only wish is that the set came with a pivot holder instead of the clamp.
Just used the square drive bits in this to drive about 1000 square drive screws using a 12v DeWalt impact driver. The bits are still in good enough shape to drive a bunch more. In the event that you are a newbie to using an impact driver like I was when starting, here are a couple of hints: the small bits are basically intended for use with the bit holder, don’t expect your impact driver to grip them directly worth a darn. Also, at least for the square drive, the little bit may stay with the fastener because the magnet in the bit holder isn’t super strong (and all the thwacking the impact driver is doing to the bit does a good job of grabbing onto the fastener). That said, if you are in a tight spot and you need your tool to be as short as possible the driver will hold onto the small bits well enough to drive.
I was looking for a driver bit set, for use with my new impact driver. I have a full set in the shop, but wanted a ‘grab and go’ kit, that would have a bit for most situations, and this one is the ticket. When I was looking at assortments, I would read something like ’20 piece set’ or ’30 piece set’ or whatever, and all too often, it meant a whole bunch of #2 phillips bits, and maybe a couple others thrown in. While it does have several of the Phillip bits, there is enough variety to get you through most driving needs. While it does have some repeats, it is still a rather complete set, containing flat, Phillips, square drive, and Torx drive bits (of various sizes), as well as a few of the most commonly used nut driver sizes (I think 1/4, 5/16 & 3/8), a few extended bits that fit directly into the hex drive of an impact driver, and a magnetic bit holder, so you can use the short bits in an impact driver.
The other comments about the case are fairly accurate, the case itself is sturdy, and the bits are held very securely, but are hard to get back into place. However, I have found that after removing and replacing a bit several times, the rubber piece that grips it softens a bit, and it gets easier to do over time. While some may not like it this way, it is just what I was looking for, because I have had far more problems in the past, with dropping an assortment with the lid open, and scattering them all over the lawn, with some pieces never to be seen again. The extra effort to re-insert the bits, is worth the trade off, to me. Now someone with delicate hands, or long fingernails may not agree.
The bits themselves, are of good quality, and about the only gripe I have, is the magnetic bit holder could use a slightly stronger magnet, or some sort of positive retianing system (I have had a Torx bit stick in the fastener only one time, but that is something that I think should never happen). I may replace the bit holder with a Wera Rapidaptor, which is my favorite bit holder, for the short 1 inch driver bits. It holds them securely, yet releases them easily.
