I like the tin opener it does its job very well, I have problems with my hand and cannot grip things so this is very handy for me, the only thing I have problems with is getting the back off to change batteries, ihave to wait till one of the family comes to change them, ( I may get a electric one )

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe product arrived and the first tin I opend seemed to work ok, but could not use it on the next can I got

Solid kitchen tool needing 4xAA batteries.. Sometimes one needs a second go to get it to clip onto the tin but once it does, it makes a clean and efficient cut around the side of the rim to cut the lid off which is then held firmly by the magnet. Once attached, it runs itself but does need to be switched off manually. A real asset in the kitchen.

    I was skeptical……but it works
I have trouble now with my joints & a normal can opener is hard work.
Just place on top of can & press button.
It’s as easy as that….. love watching this had to video it lol……watch my video

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersNice whilst it lasted. Took a few attempts sometimes, to get it working. Main reason for getting was lack of hand dexterity. The item lasted 2 and a bit years. Just died the other day. Thought it was the batteries. No easy repair, totally sealed. I Hate throwing things away.
So a bought a Lantana 2 in 1. I’ll review that on their pages.

Brilliantly, It did what it said on the can! And left no sharp edges.
We marvel at the clever injenuity. Great boon for the elderly and people with arthritic fingers.
However after the carrier failed to deliver on Amazon’s incredible next day delivery, we began to think our product had got lost, and when tracking discovery showed it had arrived promptly at our Nottingham dispatch base and had then been crazily diverted to another dispatch base in a further county
we had to wait until the next mid day for it to arrive. It was not Amazon’s own transport, but another carrier.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOMG this is such a nice gadget. It’s easy to operate and the best thing. Good bye sharp, dangerous edges. The only drawback is that it doesn’t stop when the circle is completed, you have to keep an eye on it, but I can live with that : )

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI used to have a Culinaire opener of a similar style. However, after 12 months or so it simply stopped working, for no apparent reason (changing batteries did nothing).
There are a great number of openers that seem to be clones of the Culinaire design, and may even be manufactured in the same factories overseas.

I decided to try this Cooks Professional brand, which has a slightly different design around the guide and cutter. I particulaly wanted this general style of opener as I have arthritis in my hands, thumbs and wrists. I have reasonable mobility and flexibility, but I cannot exert any significant force.

I noticed on the first one I received, that the guide-roller was at an angle to the body. I contacted the sellers but they could not confirm whther or not that was normal or a sign of damage or a defect. I returned it for replacement, and the replacement was exactly the same. Subsequently I was able to find a video on youtube that confirmed that this was in fact normal.

So far, this is working well and has not failed to cleanly open any cans, including the large round Fray Bentos pie tins.
In one practical aspect it differs differs from other designs: the opener does not switch itself off automatically. So you press the button to start the opened, once it has completed one revolution of the can it will contunue until to press the button again to stop it, and release it from the can.
It is a minor niggle though, as I do not really need to be able to walk away and leave it while it is working.
(I checked the product instructions, and that is the way this opened works, there is no fault).

It feels quite heavy and quite chunky. I do not expect to break the battery cover as long as I do not drop the opener onto the floor.

I have been using this for a few months now, and so far I am very pleased with it.
Edit 0 Aug 2018: I have just found one can that it would not open. I had 2 identical round tins of tuna. This opened would not open the first one, it was as it it would not remain latched on to the rim for more than about 1/4 of the curcumference. I could not see any difference between the two cans of tuna, but it opened the second can without any problem.

I still keep a manual opener, just in case I need it, and this opened the awkward can without problem. : Joseph Joseph Can-Do Plus Can Opener and Ring-Pull – White/Grey
