First of all, playing this on an xbox one x, the graphics are breathtaking in cinematics. The storyline is great, and the cinematics to kick it off are truly beautiful. I’m only a few main story missions in, but I am loving it. Well recommended to anyone either familiar or not so with the farcry games
Game is graphically very pleasing on the eye and the vast size of the maps are a real pleasure to look at. However it does get quite repetitive as you progress through the game. Each mission is basically the same, kill some peggies and clear a selected area. I am however still playing it so cant be that bad!
Great game with fantastic graphics and an engaging storyline. The gameplay is largely enjoyable with significant amount of variety and fun to be had using a wide range of vehicles and weapons.
It loses a star for poorly implemented co operative gameplay. The main game can not be progressed for both players when playing cooperatively. Only the host benefits.
Separately there is a mechanic the game uses to force a set piece that is flawed. I won’t provide any spoilers but it does beg the question as to why, after killing 100s of people you don’t wind up dead yourself, despite this set piece happening a number of times!
I’ve completed this game and what an amazing story and free roam world, the graphics on HDR 4K are astounding with amount of detail put into this game. If you are into RPG games then I would recommend this to you.
Reviewing this on behalf of my partner for whom I purchased this game. He has chosen not to complete it due to a disappointing ending hence the four stars rather than five
Great game and addition to the series. Kept me busy for a couple of weeks. Never tried the DLC but if it’s like the game then it would be more great gameplay on top of the main game.
much better than Primal, it doesnt feel like a halfassed POS, but then, most games feel like that now, you know, always shoving the same content just slightly different, but what am i telling yo ufor, you know this, you’re a gamer… you WILL enjoy this game if you enjoyed farcry2/3 🙂 have fun, groovy life, crazy moments, big adventures… and mybe do that in the game too 😀
Would probably have given this 4.5 stars. It’s a great update to a great series. Some of the features are a little repetitive but you know what you’re getting with Far Cry. Spending hours with the intention of doing missions but getting side tracked en route by the desire to take on a grizzly armed with nothing but a boat oar. The capture parties are a little annoying especially if you’re looking to crack through the missions. All in all, a lot of fun.
A wild ride that you take at your own pace. If you played Far Cry 4, you know what you’re in for. This game is silly good fun, recommend it even if you do want to just get a car and mow down some cows. A real blast in co-op but a downside for some (didn’t bother me) was that your partner’s mission progress won’t save , but you both get any stats, items or cash.
This is by far (no pun intended) my favourite game in the Far Cry series! It feels like a culmination of lessons learned from all the titles so far. The graphics are gorgeous, plays extremely well, has a good variety of vehicles including cars, trucks, bikes, boats planes and choppers. You can customise your male or female protagonist and have an AI or three fight a long side you (if you wish but not mandatory at all), but most of all, i love that ALL (including the story missions apart from the into) the missions can be played in Co-Op, and works so well. It’s shame it’s only online and doesn’t offer split screen Co-Op, but having Co-Op at all and integrated this well is a step in the right direction at least.
I loved this game, so much that I didn’t want it to end! Graphics are what you’re us expect from a Far Cry game and for the first time in the series I felt a sense of purpose, like I needed to liberate each outpost. Guns for hire are great. I didn’t play this coop but I can imagine it would be ALOT of fun. Highly recommend this one especially if you like the previous Far Cry’s
Great game. I prefer the campaign mode and in this game it is superb. The story is good with a lot to get on with. I’m about half way though it and I’m really enjoying it.
I think this game is amazing, a great solo story with plenty of action and the option to play the full campaign in co-op with a friend if you wish,
Graphics are really good, as good as anything else out there and the game world is full of things to discover.
The story mode had a decent length to it, definitely felt like I got a good value for my money here.
This was bought for my 13 year old grandson for his birthday.
When asked what he thought of the product he replied, ” I’ve been on it for the past 24 hours, Magic “.
Need I say more.
Loving this game got it on launch day and enjoy the freedom of been able to explore the map and do missions however you want to already played 60 hours on it and not bored and a great sized map a well
I’ve only been playing it for a week, but so far this looks as good if not better than the previous installments. Graphics are amazing, 4k hdr detail. Great storyline and gameplay
Great game, fun, lots to do and see, decent achievements that add to the experience and gameplay value and just all round good!
It’s my favourite far cry game and even beats 3 in my view. Athough the protagonists are less charismatic that someone like Vaas, the rest of the game makes up for this.
I hadn’t expected a lengthy online download in addition to the CD, some 27Gb! The opening sequence nearly had me hiding behind the sofa – spellbinding, gritty stuff. I’ll have to study the controller guide & have another go ‘from scratch’. The graphics are excellent. My only regret is that the “head up” prompts are maintained, unlike Far Cry 2, which remains my favourite game, due to it’s enduring real life relevance & one I’ve played over & over for 10 years – every time different. This time the topic is also clever, smart for modern times. I’ll award a 4* for now & return later to make a proper assessment report. I really need my grandsons to help me, but they are underage…..Watch this space !
Was dubious of buying another far cry game due to me normally getting bored half way through but i took a shot at Far cry 5 and i have to say im impressed. Im playing on the xbox one x and everything seems to be an improvement on previous games. Its basically the same formula that has been used in all previous ubisoft open world games but everything is refined. Im having a blast and have not even tried coop yet. The whole setting of being in America makes the world of difference and so does the ai companions that u can have help. Driving feels a whole lot better too. I have ghost recon wildlands and that i find that a bore fest, this game is a league above. Little tip, to enjoy the game more is turn off the tagging system to create more tension rather than magically being able to see where every enemy is. If dubious like i was then all i can say is i think i might actually finish this game and not many ubisoft games make me wanna put that much time and effort in.
Again like 3 and 4 the far cry game play is 5 star just really easy to play intense firefights good driving and lots of fun side quests to play. Also the setting is very good I really like farm like countryside map of Edens gate but there were couple issues for me stopping me giving this 5 stars. For me all 4 antagonists are complete bust all way off the level of Vass in 3 and Pagin Min in 4 don’t know if it was poor choice in voice casting or the way they develop during the story but for me they all felt like there just there. It also doesn’t help when you caused enough trouble to each character they will each kidnap you bout 3 times and they rant forever about the main character and how blind your character is same every time took away from the fun i was having and felt out of place and pointless. The ending was a disappointment just would rather have a basic ending like just shooting the father in the head and everyone goes home happy not spoiling it but it didn’t work for me. Also the mission to collect Vietnam lighters don’t waste your time don’t get any great reward the guy tells you to expect just dynamite and crafting gear really thought it was hinting at a special weapon or two. Overall plenty of fun and chaos to have well worth playing.
This is probably one of the best looking (Graphically speaking) open world console games out there. I am playing on the standard Xbox one, and, wow!, they have really spent time getting the most out of the game engine and power from the console. The grass in fields have depth and smoothness as the wind passes through each blade, shadows are clean, nice anti-aliasing, lighting is brilliant (though could be darker at night). Overall, I find this game graphically appealing and impressive coming from the standard Xbox one. It really does feel like a sunny paradise with a dark interior !
I find the story line, side quests and other activities really engaging. There’s not necessarily a set path to how you can progress the story and other quests. There are 3 main routes you can potentially go down, which one you take, is entirely down to you (I like a lot).
Also, there’s a huge amount of sandbox AI/event creation (to keep you on your toes), no road trip, walk, gun fight feels the same. Driving from one quest to another, you’re highly likely to encounter gun fights/enemies, hostage scenarios and other animal v player/NPC engagement, so many different NPC’s with their own story to tell.
I also found the normal/standard difficulty challenging but not easy, however you can configure the difficulty to how you see fit.
Negatives? Well yes, a couple of glitches not nothing huge I’ve experienced (I am half way through the game). Customisation, there’s the ability to dress how you like, but character customisation is limited (i.e adding a beard, tattoos etc…), picking up loot is the same button as picking up a gun which sometimes leads you to accidentally drop your gun by mistake (And maybe evening losing it, like I did at the start).
Overall, I would recommend highly, one of the best Far Cry games I’ve played since Far Cry 3; personally.
I went into this Far Cry game expecting it to be very similar to Far Cry 3 and 4. However, the game is similar enough to be easily accessible, and different enough to be exciting. The game’s story is fantastic (so far), with the main villain, Joseph Seed, being particularly intriguing. The setting of Hope County, Montana, is also enjoyable; it is beautiful and offers a different feel from the other Far Cry games. Graphically, on the original Xbox One, the game looks really good, much better than even Assassin’s Creed Origins; the reflections on the water, the shine of the sun and the lush green trees all add to the immersion. But the most fun part of the game for me is the vehicles, specifically the planes. There is nothing better to do in the game than fly around in a plane, guns blazing, doing acrobatics in the air; it gives you a real rush. Overall, the game is great, and provides a genuinely different experience from the previous Far Cry games. Don’t worry; this isn’t a repeat of Far Cries 3 and 4. You should buy it.
The game is like most of the series a nice open world which I love. This game can get a bit bust though as you move along especially on roads and wallop a few baddies appear to spoil ya little adventure which isn’t always a bad thing. I love having someone or something to tag along with, whether it’s someone with a rocket launcher or the faithful doggie boomer. The graphics are brilliant and I’m really getting into it. Love the far cry series. Definitely recommend if you like these open world games. It’s not perfect no but it is fun lots of fun. Shoot this blast that fly this and then chill out by river and do some fishing… Yes fishing haha excellent.
