After testing it to make sure it’s all working, and put them up on our newly installed kitchen. Completely forgot about it. Did triggered once while using deep fried. Again, proofed it’s all working. So far so good.
Have bought the double pack before along with the heat sensor, hope I will never have to hear them apart from when I test them. Easy to install and for a good price, if the battery lasts 10years grea
I have bought a couple of these 6720 heat alarms for the kitchen and loft space. The alarm is more compact than my old one and a lot more stylish. Some people have commented that the alarm is too quiet. This is because it has a ‘quiet test mode’ and this is the standard test mode if you press the test button. If you press the test button TWICE you will hear the alarm at full volume – but you’d better stand back as it is very loud!
One of those things that’s very hard to review… It has one job that you hope it’ll never be needed to perform. Chose this for the brand (CE/UKCA certification) and 10 year batter life. Neat little unit .. installation never the easiest if you want to make a good job (but all smoke detectors the same). Will update in 9.9 years when it starts beeping.
Does the job, the long battery life means one doesn’t ahve to worry for long (of course, haven’t checked battery life, will revert back in 10 years haha). The one that was delivered first, did not work but replacement was provided immediately
The first one we had started to bleep which should mean low battery after 3 year. However it stopped bleeping just before the new one arrived and is still ok according to the test button.
I’ve heard of this brand being great. I bought it to replace my fire alarm that decided to stop working, it seems to be working so far whenever I test it… I hope I never have to have it working for it’s purpose!!
This is a brilliant alarm. For the last 10 years I have constantly been replacing alarms because the ones I’ve had have always randomly started going off and then would be difficult to silence. This one However is amazing so far, battery is included for safety, really easy to install, easy to test and I believe easy to silence when needed.
Just to back up what was previously said. You DO NOT NEED to install any batteries. Screw the backplate onto the ceiling then screw/click on the alarm unit. It is that easy.
I ordered mine on Tuesday 11/05 morning (I’m in Ireland) and it arrived today Thursday 13/05 morning.
One screw into an existing hole and a bradawl made a second with ease. Backplate on the ceiling then alarm onto that.
Very pleased to have old one replaced so quickly.
It’s is a great product. Heat alarms are so much better than smoke alarms, because my wife’s cooking doesn’t set them off!
They aren’t cheap though, but look ok (no.smoke alarm looks pretty).
Bettery life in my old one wasn’t 10yrs as stated, more like 6yrs.
Ok so 96% of house fires start in the kitchen fact, the most annoying thing is that the toaster will often set a smoke alarm off.
So the answer is this alarm, it detects sudden heat increases in the room which may indicate a fire. If like many others we have the washing machine and dishwasher on overnight as the electric is cheaper so this gives peace of mind.
THERE IS A PLACE WHERE YOU THINK THAT A BATTERY GOES, IT ISNT THE BATTERY IS BUILT IN AND AS YOU TWIST THE ALARM INTO POSTION THE HOLDING BRACKET ACTIVATES THE BATTERY!!!! IF THIS HELPS GIVE ME A LIKE
After replacing the old alarm with this new one, i decided to investigate the old one… i opened it up quite easy, accessed the battery by removing a small cover 3 screws.
The original battery has wires permanently soldered on to it. But the battery had a part number on it, I bought a new battery off the internet, cut the 2 wires, soldered the new wires in and hey presto the old alarm works as good as new. Ok so you need a little bit of practical knowledge to do what i did, but not much.
But the point is, there is absolutely no reason why the manufacturer couldn’t make this an easy clip out clip in battery just as easy to change as other models.
Had long date ahead printed on base.. ‘replace by 2029′!! At first looked like there was no battery as there was an ’empty’ gap – but sealed battery inside already. Hope this sealed battery lasts that long as other reviewers say theirs failed after a couple of years. Fingers crossed. Very pleased for now though and it does say 10 year guarantee??
