About Footprint
Footprint has been manufacturing hand tools in the UK since the 18th century. They continue to manufacture most of their tools from their Sheffield based factory.
Footprint was forced to close temporarily during the 2008 recession, while they were moving factories and investing in the future. They have since rebuilt themselves.
They’re owned by the 4th generation of the same family, with one of the main forgers being the current managing director.
Made in Britain
Footprint is a member of the Made in Sheffield and Made in Britain groups. These groups represent hundreds of Sheffield and UK wide manufacturers of high quality products.
Footprint still own and operate their Sheffield based factory where they specialise in the forging and heat treatment of steel, in particular the production of hand tools.
Most Footprint tools are still Made in Sheffield, Britain. Given the global nature of manufacturing a small number of products are imported.

The wrench has a lot more play in it than I expected, maybe not as precise as say a Knipex Cobra. It does appear to be made of good material. The wrench did come in useful when removing a basin nut.
The wrench grips well and is ideal for working with domestic radiators.
It appears to be sturdy and well made. The thumb turn has a grained surface making it easy to turn and is an added bonus that works well.
I will be investing in the slightly larger nine inch version for those bigger projects.

Great bit of kit. Used it when changing all my radiator valves to TRVs. Handy size, easy to use and great grip.
Proper solid built. Feels like I’ll never have to replace it.
If I could give it 6 stars I would ! An original tool redeveloped with an easy to turn thumbscrew fits most nuts any plumber or pipe fitter/diy-er would need. Never slips and you don’t lose the bolt like on the original wrench.
Superb bit of Sheffield steel and iron. The classic design, superbly made. This will last a lifetime and I fully expect my 6yr old son to make the most of this when I’m long gone to the ‘Screwfix-in-the-sky’.
