I could not figure out how this one works for a few times while trying this one out. It is not difficult, I say after finding out how it works, but somehow I still need those instructions to understand how to put it right on the can. Overall I’d say it is a fantastic kitchen tool, cutting everything very well, exactly and with no mess at all.
First time user of anything like this product so it took some getting used to.
But I’m happy to report that it works on every can I have tried & it’s a snazzy looking product!
Haven’t had to charge it much either!
Highly recommended.
I have real problem with manual tin openers , I have arthritis in my hands . This is great ,easy to use , and easy to charge . It did exactly what it says on the Tin ( opener packing) . I am going to have to get another one for my caravan as I can’t keep taking it backwards and forwards . Anyone who has difficulty with manual tin openers should have one of these.
I’ve only had an opportunity to test this a couple of times, as most of our tinned food has had the ring pull-style lid on it, but this was a mistake on my part as this will open cans with ring pulls on just as well as cans without! If only I’d paid more attention to the product listing, which clearly shows cans with ring pulls!
Now that I have tested the opener, my first impression was that it is effective but relatively slow – it takes approximately 45 seconds to open a can of tuna. That said, you’re unlikely to buy this for anything other than the fact it can be operated one-handed, so I don’t think its speed is a factor it should be judged on.
I wasn’t sure if I was operating this correctly, as I’d expected the opener to be held in place by the small magnet when it was placed on top of the can. Still, I’ve checked it, and the magnet can’t make direct contact with the flat surface of the can top due to the lip, which means the opener tilts when in operation, as you’ll see on the video. However, this doesn’t affect the end result as the can opened perfectly. I note that the can lid will stick to the magnet once it’s been removed – see photo, so I assume it’s designed to secure the lid once it has been removed rather than secure the opener to the can during the opening process.
(Again, this is clearly shown in the images on the product listing, and the tilt is designed to open ring-pull cans.)
If you’re keeping score, it’s currently 2-0 in favour of the can opener! 😉
When the can has been opened, the lid comes away with the opener but is easily removed. The edges on the top and can are very clean and very unlikely to break the skin, so it’s very safe to operate.
The fact that it is USB-C chargeable is a great bonus, and I don’t imagine it requires frequent charging due to the amount of work it does when in operation.
It’s also very easy to clean as there are no nooks or crannies, and the opener doesn’t come into contact with the food as it’s only ever in contact with the outside of the can, so a quick wipe – and perhaps a spray of a food-safe disinfectant might be a good idea before wiping and drying it.
Overall, not very fast but very effective. It’s something I can recommend to someone needing a hands-free can opener.
With its one-touch automatic operation, this can opener takes all the effort out of opening cans. The built-in rechargeable battery ensures that you never have to worry about running out of power, and it can open cans of almost any size. One of the standout features is its hands-free operation, allowing users to effortlessly open cans without applying any pressure. Additionally, it leaves behind no sharp edges, ensuring safe and smooth opening every time. Overall, this can opener is a must-have for those who want a convenient, safe, and efficient way to open cans.
This item is ideal for those that have difficulty opening cans. Just place it on top switch on and let it do it’s job. Slow going around the can but does a good job of opening it. Would recommend.
Compared to my other can opener, this unit is very light and comfortable to hold. My other device takes 4AA batteries, but this one is rechargeable, saving money on batteries.
It’s a one-touch operation—you press the button, it opens your can, and stops automatically when a process is done. The lid sticks to an underside magnet, so you don’t have to worry about losing it or having it get in your way; you don’t have to worry about sharp edges on the can.
The only downside is that sometimes I had to hold the machine and can then it worked, or it would not open the can when I placed it on top and left it to do its job.
I hope this review helps you to make a purchasing decision.
I have wanted one of these electric can openers for SO long as I sometimes hurt my wrist with a manual can opener mor end up using one of my really old ones that go round and round the top of the can for no apparent reason and achieve nothing!
This electric can opener came charged but I gave it another charge with the supplied USB-C cable anyway before I used it.
It it charges quickly, it’s not heavy and doesn’t take up much more room in the drawer than a standard can opener.
It took me a few attempts to find the correct place on the can to position the opener before it worked, but now I know where to place it, it’s easy. It’s operated by the button on the back of and once the lid has been removed, you press the button again and it releases the mechanism and with it, the lid.
It cuts a very smooth edge with no sharp raggedy bits. It’s not noisy and I like that it doesn’t have to be plugged in. It’s also good that there is a spare blade included for the time when the original one becomes blunt.
Removing the lid is slow, but I can’t see this being a problem for anyone unless they’re using it in a ‘commercial’ kitchen. For the majority of us opening a can at home, there isn’t usually a mad rush to open one super fast.
I haven’t been able to try it on anything apart from round cans yet, but I’ll try it on a can of sardines or something next time i get some to see how it fares. The other thing I’ll l do when I have one to open is see if this can be used with cans that have the ring pulls on. If it will work on those, that would be even better because I find those difficult to open hald the time and lots of cans seem to have these now.
At 26.99 (at time of review) it is more expensive than other similar ones, but for a smooth safe edge to the can, its portability and for anyone with hand/wrist issues I would say it would be worth the price.
I have has a wall mounted mains electrical can opener in the past — this is nothing like that!
Instead of quickly opening the tin leaving sharp edges this works slowly, but cuts through the turnover seam leaving a neat finish.
You get a spare head for when the attached one no longer functions.
It is small enough to stow away.
Be warned, at first you will think it has not cut through the metal, but even when cut the lid is still a tight fit.
How to use this tin opener.
1) Charge can opener with USB-C cable provided.
2) Place can open on top of tin.
3) Press button.
4) Wait for opener to make one complete revolution of the tin then press button to stop.
5) Lift off can opener, lid comes off can, held to can opener by magnet.
That’s pretty much all you need to do to use this can opener. It’s ridiculously easy to use, and as you can see in the video I’ve uploaded, it works perfectly. Charging is straightforward, with a red light flashing during charging turning blue when fully charged and during operation.
Ideal for people with strength or dexterity issues. I wish it was a bit cheaper, but its flawless operation gets it a 5* rating from me. Highly recommended if you need an electric can opener.
A USB rechargable can opener is a great option for anyone who has mobility issues and is unable to use a more old fashioned style.
Out of the box this did have some charge but I topped it up via the USB-C cable before use.
It took me several attempts to work out how this works, once I’d put it in place on the can it didn’t seem to do anything at all other than turn around the can. I had to take a couple of attempts to get it to sit in the correct place and eventually I was able to get the tin of beans open! Rather than cutting below or inside the rim this one opens in the middle of the rim, the first time I’ve used an opener that does it this way but it did a neat job of opening and left no sharp edges!
I bought this as a gift for my elderly mother, who loves it – she couldn’t open cans before because of arthritis, and now she can. She loves that it’s rechargeable too – changing batteries would have been almost impossible for her. And it was delivered within a day of order. Perfect!
This electric can opener is very easy to operate by just using the ON/OFF button which helps to open the cap by cutting it 360. It is made of strong ABS and stainless steel which is safe to use and also durable. It is provided with a built-in 1000mAh rechargeable battery which once fully charged can be capable of opening about 20 cans.
I’m sure it works on most tin. But the first I tried ,a tin of pineapple. It went round beautifully but just made a mark, and ground a little tin off . I think the rim is too deep. I’m sure I’m working it properly. I’ll try another tin later. Don’t think it opens all tins.I’ve given 4 stars as I’m sure it must work.
This comes with a USB cable and instructions.
Charging is easy and the battery is supposed to last about an hour on a full charge which should be over 200 cans.
Operation is pretty simple, present to the can, press the button, the jaws close and it’s starts turning hands free. When it’s been all the way around press the button again to stop it.
In theory you can remove the lid with the magnet in the bottom but it’s a very weak magnet and a bit hit or miss depending on the lid design.
In operation it’s pretty noisey and the clicking sounds don’t sound good, sounds a bit like it’s breaking. It takes about 20s to open a standard round can which isn’t exactly quick but ok.
Time will tell if this lasts a long time. In theory you can replace the cutting blade but I’ve not idea if these are available to buy.
At around 28 at the time of review it’s not cheap but is a good can opener.
One of the standout features of this electric can opener is its built in rechargeable battery. With a full charge, it can open roughly twenty cans, making it a great tool for camping or for use in the kitchen.
Its incredibly easy to use. Just place it on the can, press the on/off button, and it will automatically cut the can along the lid 360. The blade cuts along the side of the lid without touching the food inside, and there is a magnet at the bottom of the opener that attracts the lid when it’s finished. This means no sharp edges are left, making it super safe. One thing is that sometimes it doesn’t work with one rotate so you have to do it twice, which is a bit time consuming if you are in a rush. I personally don’t mind because this has made my life super easy.
Overall, I highly recommend this electric can opener. Its a great tool
Electric cordless tin opener for all shapes/sizes of food tins. Its really easy to use with just the press of a button, the opener whizzes around the top of the tin in a circle. The edges of both the tin & the lid get folded over so there are no sharp edges remaining after the lid is cut off. The lid will remain attached to the tin opener after its cut so its easy to dispose of. It is rechargeable using the included USB cable plugged into a laptop, USB port/socket, or power bank. Once fully charged it has enough power to cut the lids off more than 20 cans before it needs charging again. This tin opener makes it safer for the person opening the tin & when u recycle the tin after empty as there are no sharp edges anyone can get cut on. Its good that it works cordless so there are no cables or batteries to change. Its ideal if u need to take it out in the garden or on a picnic to open any tins, or if u go away camping u can use it easily & if needed recharge it from a portable power bank.
