    Good product, bit high on price though.
    Assembly instruction in the packaging is far from any even a DIY expert would be able to understand. Only if they can print the link to the website where the instruction Video is available.

    Finally. I have a hose reel that doesn’t leak. I got fed up with wasted water on my patio from the constant leaking of my hose connection, so I kept the hose, replaced the reel and voila. No leaks. Hurrah!

    It was expensive for what it is in my opinion but I wanted it for my hose to match, fiddly to put together, took 2 people to hold and assemble properly. Looks smart in the garage and does the job!

    Our last hose reel was a cheaper item and did not last, so, in need of a new one, I ended up buying this. Although the directions are, shall we say, fairly limited, a few minutes to look at the diagrams and check the pieces made assembly a relatively simple process. I did note from other revies that people couldn’t figure out where the ‘spring’ went. It is important to realise that the item supplied is ont a spring as such, but is intended to travel inside the hose and prevent it from kinking. Once you realise this, it is obvious where it goes.

    I already had one of these for my garden hose pipe. Which is serving me well. Needed another for a hosepipe I use for draining my pond. Does the job and is robust enough.

    The new reel is light and easy to move around. Not sure if it’ll last as long as my previous one so pleased there is a 5 year guarantee.
    Fiddly to put together. Glad I watched several Youtube vids before I started assembling. Especially for inserting the long spring.

    With careful winding it can hold a 50m Trioflex Ultimate hose. Assembly took some time but was doable. It comes with 2 connectors so you can chop a 1.5m length off your hose and use that as a connector hose – I didn’t need the one I bought but ran out of time to return it as the hose reel took more than 30 days to arrive from Amazon (not 3rd party).

    I have finally found an affordable and sturdy HOSE REEL on WHEELS . Thank You Hozelock I can now move my heavy duty 50metre of hose into place for car washing without fear of damaging it plus your Hose reel is strong enough and has the capacity to wind it in, no more flimsy handle that breaks off at the slightest snag of the hose. Great product!!!

    As a hose reel this woks well. It is however very fiddly to assemble and the smaller your hands and bigger your bulk the better. Follow the instructions to the letter and do so in ample light especially when offering up the reel to the frame for the winder handle. You will need a HD rubber hammer or similar. Don’t forget the spring which lies unwrapped in the bottom of the box and is easily missed.

    Easy assembly, holds the hose OK. Best to leave it out a while to drain the water before reeling it in. I tend to hook the end into one of the spool holes to keep the hose in place. Happy with my purchase.

    Bought this for our 35m Tuffhoze
    Fits on reel easily but reel could be more sturdy as it tips easily and doesnt pull along smoothly. Is probably better suited to a lighter hose but it does keep hose tidy .
    Also needed adaptor for connecting hose to the reel but Hoselock website tells you what one is needed.

    I have replaced a wall mounted unit for this so I can put to hose inside for the winter. So far OK. Assembly is OK but I had to ask my neighbour to apply more pressure than I could to get everything to click in place!
    The hose wraps around quite well BUT you have to put you foot on the bar otherwise the hose whizzes away.
    Remember IMPORTANT to disconnect the unit from the water supply because otherwise it is impossible to wind the hose back on. It will recoil. Otherwise I am quite happy-ish

    Easy to put together (but watch out for the bar in the middle of the wheel! I didn’t realise until it was fully assembled that I had missed it. Luckily it slots into place with a bit of encouragement).

    Easy to use. I have a 60ft hose, and it was easy to unwind and wind back on again.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a good sturdy Hozelock hose cart which is light weight and doesn’t take too long to assemble.
    It’s better if the parts are carefully layed out and double checked against the images on the box, i.e. where they go and what they connect to, as there are only images for instructions.
    I checked online for a video tutorial to make sure I was assembling it correctly. Completing assembly in fourty minutes and adding the hose in 10. Once you know what goes where it’s relatively easy, and I’m very happy with it.
    (hose purchased separately)

    Great product. I’m a 34 year old petite woman and I had no problem putting this together within half an hour. You will need: a cross-head screwdriver and a mallet. Take your time, lay out all the pieces and familiarise yourself with where in the assembly each one will fit. The picture diagrams are perfectly adequate to follow (if a little small), provided you read them properly, and check future steps first to ensure you have all the right bits. The only tricky bit for me (like previous reviews) was working out how the spring is meant to fit – for that stage the diagram isn’t hugely clear. But, the internet is your friend, and after a Google search the first result was a really handy YouTube video from Hozelock showing step-by-step how to assemble one of these. Thanks to the lovely guy in the video I was able to finish the last stages perfectly.
    I now have a great hose reel on my patio, replacing a previously untidy jumble of hose, and myself and the husband are really pleased!

    As with some other reviewers, assembly instructions definitely ‘could be better’, especially for fitting the support spring (a sheet with clearer detais would be a welcome improvement, although hopefully I won’t need to assemble another one!), and some of the bits are a bit stiff to push together. Also, I got a 50m Ultimate hose to g on it – 60m of hose would, I think, need to be wound extremely carefully to get it to fit. Winding the 50m carefully is OK, and definitely coils easier with water in it, although that does make it heavier. Filling it with water before first winding it on is also likely to be tricky. If I had thought about it, I would have put the new hose on something where I could unwind it from the coil, but hindsight is a wonderful teacher LOL. Also, it includes two ‘standard’ hose fittings to go on the ends of the feeder hose from the tap, but NOT the water-stop connector to go on the hose end.

    Having assembled it all, It feels quite sturdy, rolls nicely, and the hose unwinds and winds quite easily. Too soon to say what the lngevity will be, but the old hose cart (not Hozelock) was showing signs of old age after well over 20 years service (the hose had also started to suffer as well …) so the 5-year warranty will, I hope, never have to be applied!

    All in all a good product, assembly could be easier, and the assembly instructions could definitely do with spending a few extra pence to include a more detailed sheet in the box.

    Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersJust completed the assembly of this Hoselock trolley, and although pleased with it, I found it quite difficult to put together, as many others have too. I am normally pretty good with DIY and “building things” but I was already alerted to potential trouble having read other reviews.
    Just to reassure people though, the build process is actually quite straightforward. It’s vital that you study the box instructions, and take your time to make sure you follow the instructions closely. Some of the pieces can’t be taken apart if you put them together incorrectly, but it’s straightforward enough……until you get to section 6 of the instructions! This is where I had to resort to YouTube (like others have!) I couldn’t fathom out why there was a long spring, which way it had to go, and how to proceed. Being fearful of “not being able to undo it if I do it wrong” I checked on YouTube. Again, taking my time, it suddenly became very easy. The YouTube suggestions others have made are extremely helpful. Once past the “spring bit” it was a simple case of attaching the wheels and the job was done.
    So in short, take your time, closely follow the instructions on the box, check before committing, as you can’t undo some of the joins you have to make. And once you get to section 6 (the “spring” bit!) I highly recommend you look at YouTube.
    Once it’s put together it’s a nice little trolley which holds my 60m hose quite happily. Shame the instructions aren’t quite as clear as they could be at section 6, but don’t be put off by the concerns in some of the reviews. Just be careful and take your time (and use YouTube!)
    I hope this helps others.

    Difficult to assemble and if you don’t follow the less than perfect instructions exactly, you have to start completely over. Keeps my long hose tidy and that what I bought it for. Once assembled its fine. Kinda pricey but I am happy with it.

    Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAlthough I’m a member of the Vine programme, this was a personal purchase.
    I bought this hose trolley to replace a previous Hozelock trolley that rusted and broke. However, I wasn’t too concerned, and was happy to buy a similar trolley because I had been using it, and storing it in the open for about thirty-five years.
    The trolley comes flat-packed for home assembly. Disappointingly, the instructions are printed on the outside of the box and are, in places, difficult to understand. However, I completed the job in about twenty minutes and quickly had my hose wound onto it.
    In the box are also the necessary hose fittings.
    The trolley is easy to move around, it’s easy to deploy the hose and easy to rewind it. I’m looking forward to many years of use, and would recommend it. The design has changed over the years, in the main for the better. It is smaller, but just as robust.
    I was tempted to drop a star because of the instructions, but this is undoubtedly a five star product.

    So far so good. Good value for money. The main reason i’ve only given 4 stars is because it would be nicer if the handle was longer so to could be moved around by the handle and wheels. Also on putting together there is a spring thing to insert into hose to stop it kinking, however this made it leak water loads. After removing this it was fine.

    Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis kind of does what it says it should. It was very easy to assemble, took me less than 10 minutes and it worked very well. I did find the hose attachment inside the cart came loose but was very easy to tighten and I have noticed the handle slips which makes the whole thing become uneven and the handle becomes harder to turn, but I just pull it back into shape and tighten it up again. Overall, it is a good item though, sturdy and the handle is very easy to use to wind up the hose.

    Recommended!

    Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersDecided to buy the ultimate hose so this appeared to be the best alternative cart. Took no more than 20 minutes to assemble with no missing parts. I guess with any self assembly it just needs a bit of patience and common sense. Reasonably good picture instructions provided. Worth also checking u tube and other comments for pointers. Some have commented on difficulty putting the two halves together but I just lined them on the carpet and gave them a hefty push down. My ultimate hose is 30 meters and fits fine but it would be a struggle if it was over 40. I note that the ready assembled come with cheaper hoses so perhaps the capacity is based on this. So far I am very pleased with the design and quality. One star dropped because in my view if Hozelock can sell one with a hose ready assembled for 47 they should provide the same service for these bearing in mind the hose and cart cost me 65.

    Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersGood piece of kit, but the ‘putting-together’ instructions are dreadful, as is that piece of English, sorry…

    The MAIN point which you need to know is that the hook-end of the (seemingly) pointless spring, has to be fully inserted into the female connection for the hose, which you’ll find inside the reel (on the opposite side to the winding handle). The spring is VITAL, since it keeps open the hose at the point at which it joins the reel, otherwise it would be squashed by the rest of the hose as it’s wound on.

    INSTRUCTIONS:
    -Remove the grey compression-nut from the female connection inside the reel;
    -Slide the grey compression-nut (with the open end facing the end of the hose) over the hose, ready for it to be re-screwed onto the connector;
    -Insert the hook-end of the spring deep into the female connection, you then should not be able to pull it out;
    -Push end of the hose over the spring and fully insert into the jaws of the female-connection;
    -Slide the grey compression-nut along the hose and screw firmly (finger-tight) onto the female connection;
    -Wind the rest of the hose onto the reel, all done, that’s it.

    Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThis is a good quality sturdy hose cart. I bought new hose 1/2″ hozelock tricoflex ultramax anti crush hose 50M for this cart. The hose just fits ok even though I didn’t bother too much with the winding, so that is ok for me but it is full. THE CART – The cart needs a lot of attention when putting together. The reel ends are very difficult to push together they are strong so with help got it together without any damage. Be aware to place the black plastic bar in between the 2 parts of the reel before pushing together! Most of it then is quite easy as long as time is taken to consider each section. There is a “little coil spring” to be inserted into the hose which was a bit confusing at first but I realised that this has to fit into the end of the hose to prevent the hose crushing when all the hose is wound on, the hook end gets pushed into the black plastic fitting and it then is held in place as the spring hook catches when in place so stays put. I am very pleased I bought this cart it is sturdy.

    Easy to follow instructions and went together with no problem apart from locking the two halves of the drum together. This took quite a lot of force, but once done it seems robust and built to last. Read other posts about it not being long enough for 50m hose, but says it will take 60m of half inch hose and 50m of 5/8″ hose, which is what I had, and it fitted. Easy to move around, but found it better to pull out all the hose I needed before starting to water as it toppled over when I tried to pull out more when I was a distance from the stand.

    Golden Review Award: 33 From Our UsersThis was ordered to replace a previous Hozelock cart which had done good service for very many years. This one is a much more stable design, much less likely to fall over when pulling the hose to unwind. The wheels at the back are larger and the balance bar at the front is set further forward, so it has a wider base, hence better stability. I don’t think it would hold 60 metres of hose, though. We bought a new 30 metre hose, which fits the cart easily and comfortably. A much longer hose would be difficult to accommodate, I think, and might have to be wound more tightly than is desirable or easy to manage.

    It’s best to unwind and untwist the hose fully before connecting it to the cart, and then run water through it so it gets full of water, rather than air. Shut off the water at the sprinkler end, so it stays in the hose, and then wind the hose on to the reel. Make sure the first few turns are on fairly loosely. If you try winding it on when it’s empty of water, or if it’s wound too tightly, the coils on the inside tend to get a bit compressed and when filled with water I found it wasn’t delivering the full power I expected. Once unwound, fully filled, and then re-wound, it worked much better.

    Really wasn’t difficult to put together. Very sturdy, perfect size for my length of hose. You still have to bend to wheel it around of course cos the handle’s not that long but I wasn’t fooled by the picture on the box (cart in foreground – lady in background so they look similar heights – we’re not stupid Hozelock!) I’ve found you have to push it forwards as the folding mechanism causes the handle to pop out if you try to pull the cart, not easy as it’s a gravel path to my garden but otherwise I’m very pleased with i

    Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersOnce assembled, this is clearly a good, strong product – but, be warned, assembly isn’t easy. There are two issues. Firstly, fitting the two halves of the drum together needs a good deal of force; I used a rubber mallet, when I found that my whole weight wasn’t enough to get the parts to mesh together.. Secondly, mounting the drum in the frame and attaching the winding handle to it takes time and patience. I won’t attempt to describe the problem in detail, but you’re working in the dark – can’t see what you’re doing. More detailed instructions would have helped; I certainly spent a good deal of time working out the best approach, and I’d advise others to do the same..

    But, if that doesn’t put you off, I think you’ll be satisfied with the end result.
