This has been a great bit of kit, we have had bad damp in places when windows were left shut, but this will show when there is high humidity and we can be reminded to ventilate, very accurate and good WIFI range too.
We bought 4 and they worked fine. Only caveat is in the T&C you basically have to swear allegiance to the Chinse communist party. I would hesitate before buying more as that introduces the question as to where your data goes…
I use these in my ball pythons Viv to keep an eye on her temps and humidity when I’m not home. They’re very useful, you can set what ranges you’d like and you can have an alarm for when it goes outside the range. You need batteries though
Edit
I’ve had to replace this twice now because it just doesn’t update as it should. It’s set to read every 30 minutes, yet there’s been no reading for 4 hours. I’ve tried disconnecting and new batteries, nothing works. They’re all faulty apparently. Going to try a different brand.
I am running 9 of these units simultaneously via Bluetooth on my tablet as I am doing some detail work with heating my greenhouse.
After calibrating them at the triple point of water so that they all read the same temperature initially I set them up to read every 10 mins. After two months, some 30000 data points, I have down loaded the data into a spread sheet for analysis.
So far the units have been reliable, responsive and easy to communicate with, even from inside the house.
For a unit costing something around 20 each I find them quite remarkable. I used to work with data logging equipment costing many thousands of pounds but these units,I find, work exceedingly well for there cost with no issues so far.
I was asked to trial this and leave an honest review and I’m really glad I did. I currently use Bluetooth devices to monitor temperatures which are fine but having the WiFi version makes it even easier as I can access and download data from anywhere which I really like. It sends alerts if temperatures or humidity are out if the set parameters which came in handy last week when the fuse blew on the ball pythons thermostat, a notification came through to let me know the temperature was below the limit I’d set so I could deal with it promptly.
Only recommendation I have to inkbird is that I think adding something to hang/stick the device with would be a nice touch and would look nicer than the string I was using at first. It’s a thumbs up from us at Scales and Shells uk
Always a fan of Inkbird products.
They produce the best products any customer could ask for!
This is my new addition to my inkbird collection has not let me down.
Very easy to setup the App.
Can monitor from my phone whilst I’m away from home.
Will definitely grab some more of these over the coming months.
Definitely recommend this product to anyone, good value for money.
Thank you INKBIRD
INKBIRD IBS-TH3
Great little room thermometer. As you would expect by Inbird it does what it says.
Brought this as Our lounge away seems so much colder than the rest of the house and wanted to confirm this before we had it looking into
Connect to the app very easily and the app its self is very user friendly.
The product itself is quite small, which I like as I have have it hidden away behind a photo. The only downside is that it is not a rechargeable and uses a AAA battery but saying that I have had for some time and the battery is still going strong.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a home thermomete
This is a great little product & very simple to set up on your Phone or tablet.
It is very accurate at the moment for both tempeature & humidity with alarm.
You can alter the length of time it takes readings from every 10 minutes to every 4 hours.
The only slight niggle i have is i would have liked to have a rechargeable battery built in, instead of the 3x AAA batteries needed.
I would definitely recomment this to anyone needing a mobile temp & humidity stat.
Did not take the IPX4 waterproof rating for granted because the back seam and battery compartment do not appear to be well sealed against the ingress of water. Have enclosed this with a rubber sleeve using double-sided tape.
To further prevent ingress of water I have enclosed this into a rubber cowl to the rear and all four sides. The cowl also prevents spurious readings due to the wind-chill factor and hopefully will only record atmospheric temperature. Although some wind-chill will effect the readings due to the open front of the cowl. This being to expose the probe fully to atmosphere.
I deducted one star due to the slow response of the probe to temperature variations. Set to a 10 second interval for calibration purposes the offset was implemented immediately but it takes the probe 24 – 36hrs to settle to an accurate reading. Calibrating indoors before placing outdoors, the offset had to be altered multiple times before it would settle at the correct reading. It then took another 24 – 36hrs to read the outside temperature correctly before realising it was “too” sheltered and have moved it to a more realistic position. I am awaiting another day before I expect it to settle again. Fingers crossed. I will amend this review when it as been operating for a period of settled time.
As always with inkbird, a great bit of kit for a reptile keeper, I’ve got this in my incubator and it’s helping me keep optimal conditions for my eggs, makes it so easy to make sure I’m keeping stable temps and humidity at this important time, highly recommended
This is such a blessing to have. It lives in my Bearded Dragons enclosure and gives amazing peace of mind to be able to check at the touch of an app to make sure her temp and humidity it correct. Being able to place exactly where you want without drilling or her being able to move probes makes the process so much better.
Because of the accuracy and value for money I have bought 2 more for my python and corn snake. When I add more vivs/enclosures I will definitely add more Inkbird sensors.
I had a scare this morning when the temp probe dislodged and the temp went up too high in the viv upstairs, I was notified straight away so I could rectify the issue quickly. I now have one in each of my vivs and I love them.
Looking for a sensor to alert me when I was away from home led me to the INKBIRD IBS-TH3.
The packaging is very modern like most products at the minute a stylish box that slides off with ease, the IBS-TH3 is well presented and again has a clean mordern look to it.
I gave the IBS-TH3 36 hours in situ to acclimatise to the incubator and watched via the app for it to steady out.
I was able to calibrate the sensor with my Comark C22C Food Thermometer. the IBS-TH3 calibration all though is made easy, is a little fiddley as the device needs to register every 0.1′ individually as it happens I was only 0.1’F out which is increddibly accurate.
The sesor its self is sat center of an incubator and is important I am able to get notificatiions on any temp swings. On testing these notifications were pretty reliable, all though putting your phone/tablet on to do no disturb the app was unable to push notifications, easily fixed by giving the app the correct permissiions within your device to by pass DND.
My only niggle at the moment seems to be it is quite hungry on the batteries, I am a week in to testing for my incoming eggs and the batteries have depleated ny 6% so i would 100% reccomend having some rechargables at hand.
Over all the IBS-TH3 is a welcomed addiitiion to ourr hobby, and earrly testing shows a good accurate product able to send notifications reliable, with 1 or 2 fiddley tweaks. I can’t at the moment gove any complaint to the item or its workings orr reliabilty.
What a great little device. Light. Compact. Easy to use & very accurate for the temperature & humidity. I mainly use it in my fish room but also have used it in other rooms. Very handy little item. Great price aswell. Very impressed. Its a five star from me.
I got this to use in my vivarium/paludarium I’ve just been setting up. Its neat and slender design fits in there nicely. Seems to do its job as described and it’s great to be able to look at the graphs to see the temperature & humidity fluctuations during the day. This way I can tweak heat & humidity depending on the readings.
I have been using this temperature and humidity monitor in various locations for a few weeks now. It’s been great for helping to understand a damp issue I had in part of my house.
It’s super simple to set up and the WiFi connection is a breeze! The app is very easy to navigate and gives you various screens to show historical and live data.
I found it very accurate when compared with other calibrated units. I have even tried it in a reptile enclosure and it gives great peace of mind to be able to check temps and humidity when I’m away from home. Setting alerts in the app for high and low range warns you if your viv is outside of your desired temperature or humidity range.
I intend to buy another and have one each end of my reptile enclosure to monitor both ends of the thermal gradient. I would also ideally like one in each room of my house!
It took a little while to link my phone through the app, but once I figured it out it was easy to use.
I used a range of different hygrometers in my royal python incubator to see how accurate it was.
It was definitely spot on with temps and humidity. I loved that I could monitor this from my phone. Especially as this is my first breeding season and I was constantly worrying about the eggs.
Definitely worth the money, I would purchase this brand again in the future.
What a great little gadget this is, it’s nice and small (50p in Pic for scale) with a little loop hole if you want to hang it that may be really useful when I use it in the greenhouse in the summer, it’s quite light but feels well made and sturdy.
I purchased this to use for a few jobs through the year, I wasn’t after a sensor with a screen readout on the item (I have a ITS-12S for that) the main reason being wanting to be able to remotely monitor my greenhouse temp and humidity in the summer via wifi and being able to set high temp alarms will help me look after my plants better.
I also plan to use this in my fridge when making bacon to more accurately monitor the fridge temperature.
Currently I have it sat on top of one of my cider fermentation barrels tracking the air temperature outside but under cover, set to every 30 mins (user definable from every 10 mins) it is collecting data that helps me monitor the fermentation speed so I can know when to rack this between barrels or if it has stalled due to very low temperatures.
So far I have been really impressed, having fitted rechargeable batteries I expected the item to have gone flat really quick however it has been sat outside for weeks sending data and is reading 40% battery with little drop from this (rechargeable batteries run at a lower 1.2 volts so this didn’t start at 100% like it would with 1.5v)
I was glad to see this connected to the Inkbird pro app that I already have other items connected through so I had no problem in setting it up on my android phone following the app prompts for connecting to the wifi on 2.4Ghz (you may need to split your wifi via the router if it runs duel bands like mine 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz) once connected / set up it will not have any issues.
I can see me buying more of these for use round the house as well.
Update 14.2.23 – having used this now for many months I still haven’t had to change the rechargeable batteries I fitted, these are currently showing as 36% still left in them so only dropped 4% in nearly 3 months, I have used this in the fridge porch and kitchen for monitoring temps in the day and night when making dough (helps me make timing adjustments / expectations as required having the temps)
In the fridge when curing bacon,
Through cider production and the list just goes on,
The recording interval can be adjusted in the settings page from 10mins to 4 hours
My workplace have also since purchased 5 of these for tracking office and factory temps using the data captured and exported to excel to make adjustments to levels and times to help save on heating costs, while doing this one annoyance we found was that when transferring data from multiple units the user definable unit name wasn’t carrying across meaning this had to be done singly so as not to confuse the data, however this issue has now been resolved with an update to the app.
This now also carries the user defined name across with it as well as the period selected info, so this can now be done much quicker and easier.
An amazingly useful piece of kit that I’m going to have to order more of. Throughly impressed.
This little device is perfect for measuring the ambient temperature in my tortoise outdoor heated enclosure. Great because I can check the temperature from anywhere as long as I have wifi, which is a good peace of mind. It would be great to see one of these with a sensor probe in the future. Would certainly recommend to other keepers
Using this item in my reticulated python viv and it is very accurate and easy to use a really great product will definitely be order more for my royal pythons
Really enjoy the ease of this product and how I can track everything from my phone without having to walk into the other room to check the temperature and humidity. Everything is really easy to set up, I did struggle a short while connecting it to my wife, but fixed the issue on the second try so wasn’t bad 🙂
I love the amount of features it has. The alarm system is very useful as I keep some temperature sensitive animals. The thermo/hygrometer can be either placed on a surface or hung which is neat to have that choice. All in all, I’m pleasantly surprised and can see myself getting more in the future.
Inkbird humidity and temperature gauge. Well I’m loving this…woken up by an alarm beeping because my humidity was too high the other night. I’d forgotten to open ventilation before bed which helps to dry out the room, so opened the window and went back to bed and within an hour the humidity has dropped back to where I wanted it. I have two other gauges to check the this one is working well and yeah they are pretty similar. Humidity varies but they are one the top one the the middle and one at the bottom. As I need an overall picture of whata going on. This Inkbird was easy to set up, easy to place (will be fixed in place) although my geckos wanted to move it constantly, they are too nosey, and so far has proved accurate and a great help when you are out of the house and want to know what’s going on. Given its affordable price tag I will be buying more. I’m impressed.
There isn’t much by way of instructions, but then again it is relatively straightforward to use. There is a calibration feature, but unless you can accurately gauge the temperature it is a guessing game. I have an analogue thermometer that I calibrated it to and it keeps track accurately with it. The bluetooth range is poor. I have it set up outside and the signal only needs to penetrate one wall, but the signal is lost when the distance is greater than 6 metres away. Not a bad device, but not outstanding.
Siting the sensor isn’t as easy as you might think, Bluetooth limits the distance you have and you have to be mindful of not mounting it where the direct sunlight on it could give you wildly inaccurate readings. I ended up suspending mine on a piece of string from the roof of my porch, seems to be okay.
perfect piece of kit to have for monitoring a greenhouse , summerhouse etc , works seemless with my android phone simply place your phone next to the sensor and its job done , just be realistic on the distance where you want to place the sensor and where your phone will be when monitoring it.
Update
These are so good we now have 3 they all work brilliantly, never have a problem picking up the temperature and humidity on each sensor.
Bought this product to use in my incubator for my tortoise eggs. It is important to me that I have a RELIABLE thermometer/hygrometer as Tortoise eggs NEED to be incubated within a specific temperature and humidity range….if incubated at too low a temperature the eggs may fail to hatch or the development of the hatchling will be very slow. In contrast if the temperatures are excessively high it can lead to deformities.
Similarly humidity is important in order that the eggs do not dry out.
I am over the moon in having chosen this inkbird product, it is running great after some initial hiccups with the humidity readings. Inkbird provided me with support and suggested I did the salt test to test accuracy and then if needs be, following the test, to calibrate the unit. Following calibration the temperature and humidity is staying pretty constant, all in all after the initial hiccups and then doing the salt test and calibration I’m more than happy.
It’s definitely a product I recommend for incubation purposes but do be aware it is not a plug and play and off you go, you do need to download a free app to your phone and then ensure to test out, monitor and calibrate if needs be before RELYING upon its accuracy.
I am using one sensor on the top shelf of my incubator and another on the middle shelf as seen in my added picture, thus the humidity and temperature is higher on the top shelf than that of the middle as would be expected.
It is linked to my mobile phone via blue tooth so I am able to monitor the temperatures and humidity from my armchair or anywhere in my home. It takes up little space in the incubator and runs on two AAA batteries. It was easy to connect the sensor to my phone and multiple sensors can be connected to multiple phones as well. An added bonus is that it logs the data so one can track the humidity and temperatures over the day, month and years.
A brilliant piece of equipment. I’ve got it to measure the temperature and humidity in my chameleons setup as it’s waterproof.
It’s as accurate as the other digital hygrometer I’ve got and the graphs of data really help to look back at old temps and humidity during the night.
Only downside is how close you have to be to the device itself for the data to transfer to your phone
Great item.
Price is unbelivable, app is ok and does what it says.
I purchased the Termometer only unit for my Chilli greenhouse and it works perfectly.
I admit at first i was dubious as the first unit failed after 24hrs but Amazon refunded so I purchased a replacement. 1 month later its going strong. Heard that the memory is lost on battery replacement. This i csn confirm is UNTRUE. This brings me to my only issue. Batteries., the first set (x2 AAA) lasted 1 month before unit could not talk to the App. But I was plesently supprised to see that it continued to log the temp, and once replaced sent the info to the app.
I already owned the ITC-308-WIFI Thermostat which works well with the InkBird Pro app. The Inkbird ITH-20R transmitter units connected with the monitor unit automatically and the transmitters also connected successfully to the InkBird Pro app on my phone via the IBS-M1 unit. I did mistakenly try to use the InkBird Smart app causing difficulties and email support was quick to instruct to use the InkBird Pro app only.
Very easy to set up and use. The three remotes also have a probe, so I can monitor 6 external temperatures.
With one remote I check the temperature in my garden and its probe checks the temperature of my pond water. Another remote gives me the wall temperature of my house and its probe checks the temperature around my shielded external tap to make sure that it is not freezing up. The third remote checks the temperature and humidity in my greenhouse, while the probe checks the temperature in a plant pot. The internal monitor cycles through the external readings, while also constantly telling me the temperature and humidity in my study. Perfect for what I needed.
The Inkbird ITH-20R is a product that I have been considering for some time. I already run the more complex Inkbird 308 on my larger aquaria, but have always held back running a full system like this on my nano tanks. Equally I liked the idea of being able to centralise my readings onto one device. For this reason I went for the 3 probe system.
Packaging for the product is excellent – it does feel like a high quality item as soon as you receive the product. Inside you receive a small monochrome LCD monitor station, and then either 1 or 3 transmitters with thermo probes that plug in via a connection very similar to a headphone socket.
The probe then goes into the aquarium you wish to monitor, and the receiver sits somewhere outside.
Setup was very easy – remove the backing plate with the supplied screwdriver, insert two AAA batteries (not included) into each transmitter, and another 2 into the receiver. After a few moments of being powered up, the receiver will start displaying temp info from each probe. You cycle between them by pressing the button on the back.
The lower half of the display always shows the ambient temp of the room the receiver is in.
This probe works via RF rather than WiFi so has a suitable range for me to have the receiver on the opposite side to my house as the transmitters without issue. It doesnt have the same functionality as the larger Inkbird units (ie there’s no app etc because there’s no WiFi) but that’s not the purpose of this device.
The humidity function I have ignored in this review because I am using the probes in aquaria, I imagine if I was keeping reptiles then perhaps that might be a more important feature to know!
Overall I am quite happy with this product, I can see the benefits if you are running lots of tanks and want to be able to monitor everything from one station rather than having to read each individual tank. My only criticism would be the probes need to have a suction cup or something similar to hold them in place – there’s no such provision at the moment.
