Bought for my teenage daughter and she loves it. I knew what to expect from reading information on the camera, don’t expect great quality photos. But lovely “old style” photos. I also bought it at a great price. So overall very pleased with the purchase.
This is a really good instant camera it’s easy to use nice and light the picture quality is good and the instant film is good value for money I wanted a camera with instant photos because I like photography it’s also nice to look at good value for the price it cost.
The colour of this is so nice and a bit different to other polaroid cameras out there. It’s also really easy to use, feels nice in your hands and the pictures come out great. There’s definitely a learning curve to using a polaroid camera and it might take you a couple of tries the first time you use it, but don’t be discouraged if your first photo doesn’t turn out the way you expected. Make sure you read the instructions properly for both the camera and the film, maybe watch a YouTube tutorial and you’ll figure it out.
The photos look lovely and are really nice to give as small gifts, party favours or to use as decorations or in scrapbooks.
Should come with a hand strap & batteries as shown on the box but those weren’t in the box. Only just realised this as we’ve reread the back of the box.
Nice picture size, quick printing pictures, quality pictures ok, not too easy to focus, very sensitive button and the main problem is, the cost of film. Is 1 per picture, plus batteries. Ridiculous. I usually gift them to friends or in parties. Literally a gift, as it costs a fortune. Nice toy overall.
Bought as a Christmas present for her indoors.
Easy to use, quite pleased with results.
Rather larger than I expected, viewfinder very tiny, was what let it down a little.
Nice handy camera.
The only issue is the button for taking the photos but as long as you take care you shouldn’t have too many issues, but will certainly be easy to forget.
The film has a first use slide that comes out to presumably calibrate the slides into position (though the camera does not come with supplied slides, only batteries)
Well worth the money.
I had been wanting to get myself a retro camera and instax has always been my go-to camera, having own a mini 8 before. Size of shots is much better with a square, the quality is better-most specially if you use the auto exposure.
I particularly like landscape and macro mode as it makes your photo a bit crisp/clearer. I still have to get the hang of double exposure and dark mode- to get the silhouette effect which is one of the reason why I went for this camera.
Landscape mode- Only use during the daytime. This mode instantly turns your polaroids dark when taken at night time. Polaroids at the end of the day are really only meant for close range photography.
selfie mode- great works very well, keep a steady hand.
Automatic- Does the job but normally over-exposes the image (meaning it is more pale than anything)
Macro- I have not personally used this mode yet, I cannot make a remark.
double exposure- I also have not used but make sure you know what you are doing
L/D- these are the modes I most use. Normally if I am outside on a sunny day I will take the polaroid using the D mode as it darkens the image a little and keeps it from over exposing. I use the Light in the opposite situation.
Overall I would avoid taking polaroids in the dark completely, but that is with any polaroid camera. would 100% recommend.
For every 2 or 3 blurry or over-exposed shots you get a candid picture that makes the whole thing worth it.
If you want perfect pics everytime then a “real” camera or even a phone camera is probably best, for genuine memories you can hold, I really love this bit of kit.
Absolutely adore this product, I got the deal with the case/bag, extra film and camera. Exactly what I wanted. Although the pictures aren’t high quality they are fab. Seeing as you are capturing a moment with no second chance – a little less quality can be a lot more forgiving.
This takes me back to the 90’s, without all the fuss of taking pictures over and over. It is easy to set up and use, the bag is great to protect it and have on you. It is very stylish looking. A fantastic gift for sure!
This thing looks flawless and is a joy to use. You can get some cute pictures from it but don’t expect it to be anywhere near the quality of you camera you already have in your phone. Also be aware that the film sheets are not cheap making each picture a mini investment. Saying that my girlfriend absolutely loves this camera and the great accessories you can get for it.
Camera gives appalling image quality. And that is the reason I bought it. You are buying 40 year old technology, don’t expect to get dsl quality images. They have a certain look. A look I wanted. I was prepared to pay the high price (given the quality) to enjoy what it has to offer. Also before you buy one, do look at the cost of the film. It’s a expensive to feed with film. Like 80 pence per picture.
If you want to just have a fun camera, get a point and shoot for 50 and have prints done by post or locally at boots. The price will be a fraction of this camera and the quality will be much more like feel life.
But you are going to be very selective about what you make into physical photos. Friends will be very selective about what kind of photos they accept having taken of them. Let’s be honest, your photos exist on a pc or drive that no one ever really looks at. At least that is me, I had stopped even trying to take pics cus I just dont care that much.
But being able to snap a moment, and to get a little physical image, that you can give to a friend right away, or slide into an album. And knowing that you cant edit, or delete. It just gives me back that magic that was lost, when we stopped allowing the truth and the lovable imperfections that is our lives to show in our photos. If you don’t feel me at all on that, then just use your phone!
If you are someone who is getting it for fun and have never touched a camera or instant camera, I would suggest you buy an earlier Fuji model that won’t cost so much for film and batteries. This model as great as it is, takes a while to get used to and the film is very expensive you are pretty much paying around 1 each film shot. Do your research into what you want from the camera, if you won’t use the fancy traits such as the colour gels, double exposure and don’t mind having the flash never turn off then I would get the instax mini.
The camera is great as you can turn off flash and you can change settings, it’s not tiny but it’s relatively flat so can easily be put in a bag or back pack. Overall I love the camera but I’ve wasted a lot of film getting used to the composition and focus distance so hope that the film will be cheaper in the future!
