bought as a present for my best friends son to put away but great price on offer compared to everywhere else, he loves dinosaurs so i think he will be very happy!
Bought in sale ready for my grandson’s birthday later this year. He will love it as it roars and is a good size. Good quality and value for money being in the sale. He’s dinosaur mad so it will be another for his collection!
Bought as a gift. If you don’t like noisy toys then don’t buy this. It makes a roaring sound with the slightest movement which was really quite annoying when wrapping it!
I bought this when it was 70% off, I was considering buying this when it was full price but when it went on sale it was a no brainer to get!
The toy is very posable; the head turns, neck goes up and down and can sway back and froth. There is a button on his tail that make him put his head down and roar and if you shake his tail he sways back and froth to ‘slash his claws’. I think there has been a missed oprinuty with the swinging claw motion, if it has something like the ‘Destroy ‘N Devour Indominus Rex’s button that made it grasp its claws, with the swaying motion it has it feels a bit weak- whoever that is a nitpick.
An issue that I can see happening is that kids could nip their fingers while pressing the button on the tail, on top of this the button is very hard to press and most of the time the head wont fully go down.
Some moveable parts are quite hard to move as well, I struggled to move some of the arm joints myself, I imagine a kid would have a hard time doing that as well.
Final issue I have with this figure is that it is very noise sensetive, that is easily fixed with a removal of the batteries.
The figure is sturdy, well made and a great product overall! I adore it and can imagine kids having a ton of fun with it!
We have quite a few of the dinosaurs now and this one is the noisiest. If you knock it slightly, it roars. But my 4 year old loves it and I got it half price so I can’t complain too much.
My son has been after this toy for ageesssss! I saw it on offer so ordered it. Its exactly as expected and seen in the shops. He is having it for Christmas so hasn’t had the chance to play with it yet but I know it is going to be well loved. The ONLY negative point I would say (and the reason I have marked it down) is that you cannot turn the sound off. When the item arrived I moved the box inside and the dinosaur made a roaring sound, so I imagine this could ruin a few surprises! My son not yet receiving it, I’m not sure how annoying this will be in the future.
Gift for my 4 year old grandson, it does look scary with the claws, but they are not dangerous or sharp. It does make some movements and has a scan code. My grandson was over the moon with it. Great toy
I got this dinosaur for my son as he is dino mad! The dino is a reasonable size, very life like ( for a toy! ) they have gone into quite a lot of detail to make it as life like as possible, We found it to be well made, sturdy and durable. The problem is with these types of toys is that they have imitations to what they can do. The makers have tried with this toy to make it as interesting as possible, pushing the head activated the roaring noise and lunge biting action, there is also a swivel in the middle of the stomach which allows the dino to do a side swipe, pushing the head side to side also activates the sound as well, to be honest we found the sound activation to be really annoying as the slightest touch and it was off! The toy was met well, looks great and for a dino loving boy, my son was excited playing with it. However, not so now, nearly 4 weeks later and at the price it retails at, may be a little off putting. It does have the added bonus of having the option to download the app and getting some facts and being able to scan the tab on the dino, but again the interest in this doesnt last long and my sons enthusiasm wanes
All in all the toy was well received and entertaining for a short time but will probably now be consigned to the toy graveyard or sat unused on a shelf.
Spending 40 on a dinosaur toy – you would hope it was going to be seriously impressive. Whilst it does not disappoint in terms of being a fun toy, the high price point will put people off from purchasing.
The toy itself is relatively sensitive – whereby it makes loud noises with the faintest of touches; so even the delivery driver jumped out of his skin whilst delivering the parcel. I hope not too much of the battery capacity was lost in transit (they may want to consider a plastic pull tab to avoid battery drainage in future). Unboxing the product was straight forward enough – minimal cardboard and enough restraints to keep the dinosaur from escaping out of the box.
The dinosaur itself is a fairly realistic model, with high intensive detail and requisite grooves and ridges along its back. Given its a quite a soft touch, there is nothing too sharp in either the mouth or feet here (which is a good thing!). All the parts wag, move and make the general roar noise when stimulated. I am not sure the full detail is really appreciated by the younger audience but as an adult I can certainly say I am impressed.
The advanced features then link in with the app they advertise. The app itself is not actually publicised on the packaging but you can download it from the relevant app stores on mobile devices using the brand details. The dinosaur features a pull out tab on its back with a code to scan and unlock it into your collection. To be honest, though, it was a bit of a waste of time given I have a near 5 year old who does not have a phone. Most of the functionality was not for independent play. Yes, some interesting facts about the dinosaur are unlocked as are attempts to make the dinosaur appear in augmented reality – but given you have the tab up on its back and one hand on your device it proved a challenge to do both together and to provide much entertainment for my child.
Just because of the high price point and the app being a bit of something and nothing as the sales pitch for it – it kept this as a 4* product for me. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with it for what it is.
The dinosaur comes in a card backed case with no plastic overlay so is open to the elements. The battery is already operational and the dinosaur was roaring inside the box on arrival! The fugure feels pretty sturdy, nice and large for small hands to grip around the dinosur’s neck. the figure has articulation so that the neck moves from side to side, the mouth opens, and the body is jointed so it can move up and down.. If you puch the tail the head goes down and the dinosaur’s mouth opens ready for attack. When you push the tail or move the body the dinosaur makes a roaring sound. On the back of the dinosaur along the spine there is a “secret” pull out tab with a QR code. You need to download the Jurassic World Facts App onto a phone and then scan the code to unlock facts and information etc about dinosaurs. The product is only suitable for children over the age of 3 due to small parts like this secret tab and choking hazards.
It’s well made but seems overpriced at just under 40 for a plastic dinosaur that makes an electronic strangulated noise. Nursery School and Infant school children who can be obsessive about dinosaurs will love it.
