The device comes with the software which is on the disk, which could be installed on a laptop. Then the USB side of the cable is connected to the computer, and the other one goes to the OBD port of the car. Software on the laptop allows to read the car CPU for errors and other irregularities. This device also allows to clear these errors.
They are limitations to this cable as many of the laptops do not really have the CD ROMs anymore, which makes it harder to install the software on your laptop. But there is a workaround that nowadays there are external CD ROMs old, but again that’s additional costs and complications. Another limitation is the software itself, as if you check the advertisement specifically asks not to update the software, which could potentially render the device useless. They make a device compatible with very narrow specific type of cars, they are for have to be absolutely sure that your car is in the list and it fits your car.
The reason I mentioned the above is because nowadays they are already devices with built-in digital screens, and they do not require any additional software to be installed and fits wider majority of cars.
Overall, while the diagnostic device serves its purpose ver well, there are some limitations to the device.
