Fazit:
Schneller Datentransporter mit billigem Gehuse. Vier Sterne fr ein brauchbares Produkt.
Use for disk imaging to create and offline backup… transfer is as fast as my Samsing T7s and small enough to put in work bag so backup is in a different location to local backups
Mine delivered everything promised, the speed, etc. For some strange reason, after one week later it stopped working. Did the usual checks, disk management, etc. No joy. While it was working, it certainly delivered. I guess I got the Monday morning one 🙁
Using this to transfer big videos from my SSD between computers, before was using another pendrive, but seeing with this 4gb videos copied in less than 5 seconds is impressive. If you have usb-3.2 works like a charm
I purchased this flash drive because of the amazing reviews on the internet.
Good: I tested and it gives extremely fast speed with file transfers. The speed given by the manufacturer is accurate. It has an LED light that is extremely useful to know when the drive is being accessed. I added a picture to show the blue LED in action (another reviewer said that the LED was missing but mine was not missing).
Bad: The flash drive is unnecessary large compared to other flash drives. It is pretty lengthy and is not comfortable when adding to my key ring because it is longer than my other keys (door/car). Please keep this in mind when purchasing.
The speed has to be seen to be believed. A 3gb file flies from a macbook Pro in less than a second.
The form factor is extremely ugly and too wide to allow for a peripheral to be connected in an adjacenct usb c port, though. It’s easy to work around and overall, the speed wins out.
As others have noted, the drive does not reach the theoretical speeds quoted, but was still a delight when transferring many Gigabytes of data. I suspect the source device speed and environment degrades the expected performance, even though in my case the source drive was solid state and the interface was usbc.
A good USB type-c drive, that starts writing from laptop to usb drive quickly, but does slow down as the write continues. However, and to be fair to the makers of the flash drive, my laptop is not usb gen 2×2, so the super duper speeds claims by the manufacturer are not achievable and I accept that. If I had a 3000 high quality/spec brand new laptop, that has usb ports that support gen 2×2, the write speed would obviously be quicker, and I bought this drive for future laptop upgrades and with the 5 year guarantee, I thought it would be a better option, than having an external hard drive with attaching cables etc…
I use this just as a library for retro games. Anything I can’t fit on my phone I save to this and these files are often 1-5gb and they transfer in a flash. With phones ditching the SD card this is the next best thing.
The speed is great. I have a 3.2 Gen 1 motherboard, so it bottlenecks the Gen 2 memory, but even with that, my download speed is enormous. Compared to my old 3.0USB with 10-12Mb/s, the Kingston writes with 400Mb/s. I downloaded a 35Gb 4K movie on it in about 90 seconds.
This drive works very well for me. I’ve used it with Windows and Android to transfer large music and media collections between devices. I was quite surprised how fast my S10E could read from it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit through the case I have for my Surface, but on the laptop it is fantastic and doesn’t block the USB A port or my headphone jack. Very pleased.
Smaller then I was expecting and quite a bit cheaper then I expected. In this price range, plastic is a strange choice & I would be ok with it as long as the mechanism felt good; it doesn’t. The enclosure is poorly designed and I have 0 confidence in it putting it on a keychain.
Nothing to complain speed wise (see attached screenshot). It rivals some NVMe enclosures..
My drive definitely gets the advertised speeds on USB 3.2 GEN 2 port. On a 3.2 Gen 1 port, I get about half the advertised speeds. Still very fast for a small flash drive. Also works well on my phone. This flash drive does get fairly hot, but that’s to be expected because of it’s fast transfer speeds.
I bought this product for around $38. At that price, it was only about $8-10 dollars more when compared to other big name brand 256gb USB C flash drives, but you get much faster speeds. At $38 dollars, I think this drive is fantastic, but I don’t think I would buy this product again unless it came back around or below $38.
Minor complaints:
I wish the case was made out of metal rather than plastic. For a drive that’s supposed to retail for $63 dollars, you would think it would have a more premium finish. A metal case would also help transfer heat more effectively than plastic.
Also, the design of the case could be better. When the USB plug is sheathed, the plug is still exposed on the back. They really should have designed it so the plug is fully covered when sheathed.
Lastly, I wish the USB plug was extended slightly so I could use this flash drive with certain phone cases. Most phone cases will not allow you to fully insert this drive. You will either need to remove your the case or buy a new one that has enough room to insert the drive. (I wouldn’t really consider this a design flaw or proper complaint but it would be a nice QOL improvement).
Tested on a an i9 laptop with Thunderbolt 4 ports only (40Gb/s) with a 4 GB ISO file:
– Writing speed ~500 MB/s, ~8 seconds.
– Reading speed 900MB/s -2 GB/s., less than 4 seconds.
It is a very high speed memory stick, but not as advertised.
I am very happy with this device, it’s faster than external HDD and it’s even faster than SATA connected SSD. Sometimes some files transfer slowly but mostly I get really amazing transfer speed. If you don’t have USB 3.1 gen 2 or 3.2 gen 2 it’s not worth buying because USB 3.0 will bottleneck the drive.
Excellent quality even though it has a plastic case. Prefer the Date Traveller metal sticks of which I have many.
The case has a sharp edge on the opened end when extended and opened for use and it took number of operations to become smooth. Otherwise great value.
