I bought this for my pastry as I find it sometimes very difficult to blend my pastry as I have warm hands and then it gets very sticky. This has made a great difference to how my pastry now turns out.

Not yet used, but well made and hopeful this will be a useful purchase. Used to do recipes which needed rubbing in but now have sore hands; this is my fix for the situation.

After over sixty years of rubbing fat into flour using both hands (now arthritic!), I have found this a wonderful help. I wrap a dishcloth around the handle to make it easier to grip.

Arrived today. I have used it for chopping eggs for egg mayo sandwiches and for making a crumble. Brilliant. I’m sure I will find more uses as time goes by.

Love everything about this. I love baking and I hated getting dough under my nails. This little gem stopped that. I throw it in the dishwasher and it comes out like new

I don’t make pastry/scones that often but so pleased to have found this. It took me a little while to work out where to hold for my comfort, once done, it makes breadcrumbs quickly and easily. Scones were lovely.
No electricity needed, easy to clean, keeps your warm hands away from the fat/flour.

I used this to mix butter into flour. It took a 10th of time it would have taken to rub it in using fingers. I wish I bought one years ago. However, not very robust and one of the ‘cutters’ has bent out of shape after a few uses

I only recently found out that this existed and am very pleased with it. I have arthritis in my hands and find it a good help as well as keeping hand clean. I would certainly recommend it to others thinking of buying one.
It is very easy to clean and quick to use.

Even if you havnt arthritic hands, this is so quick mixing fats into flour, and having clean hands!

I find this pastry blender quite hard work.
Admittedly I had quite hard butter to blend with the flour but you have to keep pastry cold while you make it.
I think if the blades were thinner, it would be easier to use.
A stronger person would find it easier.

Pretty ok but has a tendency for the blades to bend when using cold butter/fat. This was improved vastly after I put a sharp edge on the blades. The handle can nip a bit but this could be because I’ve got fat fingers

Obviously a quality product. I hate getting my hands covered in food so this was great for pastry. I press down then twist right or left to get best results. I think if you just used a chopping motion it would eventually break or bend the device. Having said that, it is well made.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI make pastry all the time in my Thermomix, so didn’t buy this for that particular purpose, although it would be good, no doubt, for blending pastry. I like to use mine to ‘mash up’ hard boiled eggs with mayonnaise for sarnies! Works perfectly! Good quality tool.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersTo be honest I only usually write a review when I purchase something that is no good and I feel I should warn others against wasting their money.

BUT………This is brilliant!! I was looking for a machine that could rub butter into flour as I hate having messy fingers when I do it by hand. Most articles said a food processor was the answer but one said that a food processor was good but, for a fraction of the cost, this gadget worked perfectly. I looked on Amazon and found it, delighted it was so cheap and decided it was worth the risk of spending 4.99 on something I thought might be totally useless. I was sceptical to say the least but gave it a go. I was thinking, this isn’t going to work when the butter seemed to be clogging the tool but I persisted and realised that the butter unclogged the more I used it. I ended up with perfect “breadcrumbs” and no sticky fingers. It takes about the same time as doing it by hand but you save a little by not having to wash the gunge off your hands afterwards. I washed it in the dishwasher afterwards. Like other reviewers I wish I had bought this years ago.

makes life easier as wrists are getting weak.
just one problem the blades could be a bit stronger the are a bit flimsy, but on the whole a great help

I usually make my pastry in a food processor as I am lazy and it works beautifully.
Unfortunately, it is now knackered and I thought Im not going to spend a fortune on something I’m only going to make pastry with… So I came across this utensil.
I’m very happy I did, because it works very well, it makes up the pastry nice and quickly without having to rub in with your fingers, and it keeps it all cool.
    Highly recommended, pretty effortless!

I watched a chef use one of these on youtube which prompted me to purchase one. Really pleased. Easy for these old arthritic hands to use comfortably. Brilliant price too.

I’ve given it four stars because it arrived quickly and seems to be good quality. I fear it may take me some time to master it, though. I’ve made a few attempts butend up using a knife and fork and my fingertips. Perhaps I’m to long in the tooth to change.

I’ve had one of these for years, as my mother did before me. Mine finally gave up as the wooden handle wore loose, so I bought one to replace it – and one for my daughter. It’s a really handy little gadget when you don’t want to make a lot of pastry, and it’s perfect for banana bread. Easy to clean, and the new one has a nice metal handle.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSo handy. Having very weak and painful wrist joints I was quite sceptical as to how this would help. I love it. It more than halves the time of crumbling into a much more even texture and requires a lot less effort on my joints. The one tiny negative is I find where the handle joins, it’s a little roughly finished. Otherwise a very handy kitchen tool that I love using.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI haven’t had the chance to use this much but the couple of times that I have it’s been okay. It does what it needs to do and seems sturdy enough so far. What I did find that when cleaning, was that bits of dough would get stuck between the curved blades. I call them blades because I noticed when using a sponge to wipe them that it cut straight through. Great for chilled butter not so much for fingers.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a pastry blender. It’s meant to cut in cold butter into four for making flaky and fluffy pastry. Does it do the job? Yes, yes it does! My scones never had the amazing texture I can achieve with this (I have warm hands, so rubbing butter in by hand melts it – this does not). It’s dishwasher-safe, so easy to clean, too. The only thing to watch out is that the blades occasionally bend sideways a little, and I’ve had to straighten them twice (not difficult), which makes me think that the steel it’s made of isn’t of a very good grade.

I suspect there might be a better one somewhere out there, but since this one does the job, I’m not going to look for another unless it should break – which it hasn’t, yet. On the other hand, I generally cut cold, refrigerated butter in, not frozen as is recommended for some fancier pastry recipes – being a bit soft, it might not be suitable for frozen butter.

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersI’ve made pastry for 40 years using the old fashioned rubbing in with fingertips. I’ve tried food processors & food mixers which have been returned as they haven’t made the pastry as well as I can by hand.
This little gadget is a fraction of the cost & I’ve got to say I was amazed at how quickly the flour & fat turned into breadcrumbs. Less than a minute compared to about 10 minutes rubbing in. No more sticky fingers and trying to keep hands cold.
The only drawback (I think) is that you can’t lift the mixture high enough to incorporate air. So I just shook it from one bowl to another a couple of times. I always thought & had been told my pastry was very good, but now it’s even better.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usersi’ve been looking for one of these for years in shops but when i saw one on here i decided to try it! my mum has had one for years and i’ve used it often for pastry and shortbread (it really improves the shortness as your not heating the mixture with your hands) a little disappointed that the blades do close up a little while using (my mums doesn’t) but guess that’s just progress (nothings made to last long these days) definately recommend especially of your pastry or shortbread are not short enough (and you don’t get the mix under your nails) my 3yr old uses it too
