Bought to go along with captain calamari and Freddie firefly, Sam is their simpler cousin with just a cowbell, little mirror, couple of squeakers and some crinkles.
Love these toys, 9mo is still interested in Sam while often overstimulated by other toys
I got this for my then 2 month old and he absolutely adores it. Great size to take around with us and when he’s getting cranky at appointments I just crinkle the legs, squeeze the 2 squeakers or show him the little mirror and he cheers up instantly! Definitely worth purchasing.
Great little toy and keeps my little one entertained in the car — called Tomy the parent company directly to confirm that the toy is non toxic and BPA free for babies that put them in their mouths.
My son loves his octopus. We hang it on the pram and he’ll hit/punch it for ages. He’s starting to become interested in the different textures too. Highly recommended!
The wind chime sound is so nice and the main appeal to the toy. The textures of the tentacles too. The mirror is very small and the tentacles are large so unlikely baby can see mirror – there is also all the labelling for the toy stitched to the side of the mirror which doesn’t help. The squeakers are good. Overall toy is nice but there are some better ones that Lamaze do.
I’ve bought this as a present previously and my friend and her son absolutely loved it so bought it again for another friend! It is super interactive and is just so cute. It is definitely the cutest in the range! Came packaged in a sealed plastic bag to keep it nice and clean.
The toy is great. My baby enjoyed the soft chewable ends before teething started and now that it is in full swing baby is enjoying the textured ends. It is bright, light weight, easy to hold, washable, and encourages fine motor skills. Baby never gets bored with unusual shape of the toy. we get smiles every time baby is handed the toy
My baby loves this it’s one of her favs, she is 4 months old so it’s nice and easy to hold she loves chewing the mirror and the little tassels off one of the knot bits.
Can clip to push chair while on the go.
I pop it in the washing machine of an evening in to a wash bag, air dry Over night and it’s ready to go in the morning.
This is a great toy for babies – we’ve also been giving these as more interesting gifts to new parents (than just buying clothes).
We’ve found this toy (‘the octopus!’) especially useful as you can attach it to straps (e.g. on a pram, high chair, car seat etc) and the baby can play with it without it being on the floor in a few seconds. Lots of different ‘legs’ to keep baby interested. Has been through the washing machine a few times without issue.
Really good toy to keep baby busy! Our little one has played with this since 6 months of age and she loves it. Very unusual looking, in fact it looks a bit like a dog toy! But it certainly keeps baby happy! We clip it to her walker most of the time
One of the best toys I bought for my son, he loves exploring this. It’s really good quality and well made with different textures, colours and shapes. My son is teething and loves to chomp on all the shapes. We have it on his pram, car seat and literally take this and the lamaze dragonfly everywhere with us!
I rarely write reviews but this time I need to straight away. My 4 month old has loved this toy as soon as he saw it. He seems fascinated by all the elements while hung on his play mat, tries to grab and pull them; they make different sounds and have different textures which is super fun! He cannot pull or tag them yet so I see this toy grow and develop its use with him. Can be clipped onto pram which is a real bonus! Recommended, best toy so far 🙂
A great toy with plenty of different colours, textures and sounds. Great for playing – it can also easily attach to buggy or bags. The toy parts are good for teething and are easily grabable – the mirror is also a bonus. It’s ok when hand washed but can be tricky to get muck out if it’s been submerged.

Like most babies my daughter probably has more toys than she needs however this purchase was definitely worth it.
She loves pulling at each part of this little knot and exploring the different feel, texture and shape it offers her. The little strings on the end of the ball provide hours of fun ( for parents :)) while we watch her trying to grab them between just two fingers: it definitely helps with encouraging finer motor skills!
The star shape appears to provide lots of chewing pleasure for those hairy moments when teething is really bugging her.
Like most toys you can only wipe clean as oppose to machine wash which is a shame but not unexpected.
Overall an interesting toy for 3 months and a above.
I bought this toy as a christmas present for my daughter who was at the time 2 months old. Being a Lamaze toy and Lamaze being one of the most popular of baby toys I thought I’d get it for her. I must admitt I wasn’t too sure about it after I got it as she wasn’t all that interested but I am really glad now I bought it. Because now at 3 months old this toy has become her number one favourite! It’s really good for little hands and she can grab hold of it easily with no trouble. She spends hours pulling on it, looking in the mirror, chewing on the star and rings and loves to wave it and toss it about over her head. It’s great for exploring and learning about different textures and shapes. She just won’t be without it and she really loves studying it. Definately recommend it.
This toy is fantastic. Lamaze seem to have thought of everything and it is a good size for baby. All the Lamaze toys are well thought out and although I feel it may not look as appealing to adults as some other ones (dolls, robots, etc) I feel this one is superior to have from birth. My son is now 5 months old and it is his favourite. He can hold it himself which he enjoys as it has many ‘legs’ to grab onto and is light enough that he can throw it around and pick it up. It has so many parts to it that he can always find something different, whether it’s a squeak, a rattle or a crinkle noise. The different textures are furry, velour, ribbed, small string bobbles and a plastic mirror is also attached. The teething rings are very helpful on it. It is great value for money and is so compact that you can take it everywhere. I find it gives the entertainment value of taking 5 different toys with the bonus of teething rings. It also has a clip where you can attach it to the pram or car seat. Due to its multi functions and bright colours I feel it will grow with baby as he starts to notice even more things about it like the colours and different material patterns. I would highly recommend.
I have bought a lot of Lamaze products, so I’m a real fan. To start with this was my baby’s least favorite, but now when she’s 4 months old it has become one of her most appreciated toys, so I guess she was a bit too young for it before. Now she can easily hold it and especially the “mirror” seems to be very popular to chew on… As always with Lamaze products here at Amazon – a great buy!
Update – My baby is now 7 months old and this has been the best buy ever. She has played with it every day since she could hold on to it and she never gets tired of it. All other mums have commented on what a fabolous toy it is. If you only are going to buy one Lamaze toy (or any toy at all) this is the one. It really is a great toy and it lasts for a long time.
I bought this toy recently for my four month old baby and she absolutely LOVES it. She is pretty curious and gets easily bored when in the car or pushchair, but this knot keep her entertained for ages. It has a nice mix of textures and colours, and a mirror – it squeaks and jingles too. It sounds like a small thing but I’ve found it very useful to have such a large, flexible clip to attach the toy to the play-gym, car seat or pushchair. Our buggy has quite a thick safety bar across the front but the clip is easy to take on and off quickly when we’re out and about. As with other Lamaze products the finish of this toy is excellent, it seems very sturdy and the materials are good quality. Highly recommended!
My niece loved this from 4 months old. Lots to grab hold of, explore, suck and feel. Different textures and shapes and always something good to suck on. Plus it has lots of grab points. The knot is static but each arm can be pulled as coordination increases so there’s more to discover. Don’t know if it’s by design or accident but ours also have different resistances to being pulled making it more interesting as she grows.
She loves the green star which is a great teether and is bobbly on one side and with raised curvy waves on the other.
The ball with knotted threads which are good to chew too has a bell inside and two kinds of texture inlcuding ribbed short fur.
The triangle has hairy fur on one side, smooth on the other and crinkles when squeezed.
The soft fabric star is velvety fur on one side and smooth fabric on the other with a squeaker inside.
The mirror is good to enough for a decent reflection with velvety fabric on the back with bold stripes.
Finally the activity not shown in the photo is two teething rings, one yellow one orange and one is ribbed the other bobbly.
It has a good clip to hang it from which is apparently good to chew also. It’s light enough for baby to hold and well made. Very very pleased. Well worth the money.
Each of the ropes with toys attached can be pulled back and forth through the knot- my baby watches agog while I show him this and I’m sure he will play that game himself when he is older.
It has everything that that all of the other toys in the range have- in terms of rattles, mirrors, rings, crinklies etc However, it does seem to me that this toy will have a shorter useful life span that the character toys- there seems little potential for imaginitive play with this one when my kids get older than there is with the characters BUT this toy IS ideally suited for the younger baby, and at this price theres no reason not to get this for this special time in your babies life, along with the character toys for when they get a bit older.

This toy has definitely been one of my son’s favourites – he’s just hit 7 months old, and this is fantastic for him. Very well constructed, and lots of different colours, shapes, textures and sounds – it is a really engaging toy. The picture doesn’t make it clear, but the attachments are on different ends of the same soft “link”. So buy pulling one of the sides that is “in” at the moment, you make it come “out” and retract the one that is already “out”, so variety can be added. The ball shape has a bell in it so it jingles, the triangular piece you can see with the red border has a mirror on one side and high contrast stripes on the other. One of the attachments also has a squeaker in it, and the star is a “rubbery” teether. It easily clips onto car-seats and prams. All in all, another great Lamaze product (my son also has Freddie the Firefly and Cap’n Kalamari)
