Our little girl loves this toy. She was mesmerized with the black and white wings from her first month and even in the third month she loces this soft toy the most and can bring smile on her face any time. Would 100% recommend to all!

Great toy! My baby loves it. We use it in the pram bassinet which makes walks better since baby doesn’t get quite as bored and cries less. Only issue is the rings at the bottom are plastic and not appropriate for chewing and babies naturally pull and try to put these in their mouth so it’s not a toy I would let her play with unattended.

Bought as a gift for a friends new baby, seen lots of use from their little baby girl so nothing negative to report. Great interactive toy with lots of colours, textures, sounds, and mirrored surfaces.

What can I say – my four month is transfixed by the interactive features on this toy. It’s one of the better lamaze toys (we’ve got a few) so I definitely recommend this one over the dog for instance.

Our favourite toy. My baby loves this, by far the best toy we’ve spent. He’s played with it every day since 3 months. It’s one of those things if we lost we would buy again. Lots to keep baby interested as they grow a bit older they fit new bits. Great when they start to teeth also. We had it hanging in the play gym too.

Our baby seems to be drawn to the Lamaze toys so I have taken to buying them for friends babies. They are pricey compared to other brands but they always have a lot going on with the crinkle effects, mirrors etc, and this one is no different. I bought this one as it said it was a bestseller and my friend said this is the only toy her little girl plays with so far!

This was the first toy our newborn engaged with. She loved the black and white wings and as she’s grown she’s enjoyed all the different colours and fabrics. Made nappy changes a lot easier in the beginning

It’s a lot bigger than I thought it would be. My 14 week old absolutely loves it. It’s all he plays with. He loves grabbing the scrunchy wings and chewing on the teething pa

Absolutely brilliant toy for newborns: so many details and colourful layers of different textures. Easy to fix on the cot. My baby plays with it for long time, and doesn’t get tired quickly. Thank you L’Amaze!

My neighbours had a baby girl last month so I bought this for her, The parents loved it and its not some cheap looking thing either so hopefully it lasts,
Bigger than expected and I like that it has all different things on it to keep the little one occupied even at different ages

We take this firefly everywhere we go – he is so easy to clip to the pram/car seat and helps to keep baby entertained . Only thing missing was if he was to play us a little tune

I bought this 3 times for my friends with kids. Most recently my goddaughter had it on her stroller until she was 2 years old because she didn’t want to give up on her butterfly. It becomes a fun little friend and I am yet to meet a little kiddo who doesn’t like this!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersMy baby was too small when I bought it and used to have to hold it for her. It destructed her for a bit but didn’t last long. However now she’s 5 months and is able to hold herself she loves it, easy to hold likes all the noises it makes and the colours really seem to catch her eyes every time. Although she brings to her mouth unable to use teething bit yet. All in all lovely toy and would recommend

I bought Freddie the firefly for both my kids and also for my nieces and nephews – it makes such a lovely baby toy! The teether, crinkly sound, tiny mirror, textures, high contrast black and white side – all the other features in the pictures are exactly how it is in person as well. I love that it clips onto anything really- pram, bag, highchair etc

I have had Freddie for 4 years now and washed it at 40 degrees 2x a month and NONE of the parts have broken or ripped off!! 10/10 for durability and use!

He loves this as he develops; 3months; he is starting to grab the knots for legs and pull it towards his mouth and chew his head!! He loves the mirror and fabric over it and he carefully uses his fingers to touch it. He also likes to look at the black and white patterns on the back of the wings. I could not be happier with the toy and will be buying other products from this brand as it keeps his so engaged. Well worth the price!

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersMy little one loves these so much!

When she was a newborn, she preferred the firefly. The back of the wings are black & white and she could look at them for ages!!! Now that she’s a few months, she loves pulling the legs , the teething bug & the circles at the bottom! The wings crinkle as well which my baby is all for right now.

She prefers the Calamari over the firefly in general now because she loves to put his legs in her mouth! She likes to touch the circles at the bottom and the rattle ball! His hat makes a crinkle noise that she adores!

The packaging is great and these make a fantastic baby shower gift!

These are a great size! They’re much bigger than you’d expect so they keep your baby’s attention.

The clips make it to where you can take these on the pram, on the car seat or little swing chair. This has provided so many hours of fun and learning for my baby when I needed her distracted!

Overall I love these almost as much as my little one and would highly recommend them! If you found this review helpful, please click the helpful button below. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love these!!!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI honestly can’t recommended this toy enough.

I bought this for my little girl before she was born and she’s loved it right from the beginning. She’s now 3 months old and her eyes light up when I hold it in front of her. She reaches for it, waves her arms and kicks her legs in excitement. I think it’s now as familiar to her as Mummy and Daddy are!

In the beginning, we’d hang it on her play gym with the back of the wings facing her (they have a high contrast black and white pattern) and she’d stare at it and very lazily bat at it with little coordination. As the weeks have progressed and her eyesight and coordination have improved, she’s become ever more interested in Freddie! Now she grabs him by the wings and does her best to chew (and dribble) on him. We rarely leave the house without Freddie now, as he is one of her only toys that is guaranteed to bring a smile to her face and keep her occupied while doing ‘boring’ things like food shopping!

It’s a well made, well thought-out toy that I’m sure will keep entertaining our little girl in new ways for months, even years to come!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWhen I received Freddie, I was a little surprised at how large he is, at 21.5cm in length and 29cm from wing tip to wing tip, he’s much larger than other buggy toys I’ve bought and too large for Freddy (my little man) to lift at the moment. In fact, he’s perhaps a little bit too big, as I had intended to hang him from Freddy’s baby gym, but when I tried that he was almost touching my little man. Mind you if the Firefly wasn’t so big no where nearly as many activities could be crammed in.

Freddie the Firefly has a lovely soft, cuddly, plush body consisting of vivid brightly coloured rings, which encloses a nice loud rattle (that works with even a slight shake or movement). His friendly face is sewn on, with wide open eyes and a cheerful smile, so there’s no buttons to come loose. His antennae are made of silky material ending in knots while his legs are velour and also knotted giving baby something to hold onto and chew. Freddie also has a springy tail with toy plastic rings that clack together and can be chewed on. But the best part of Freddie the Firefly are his wings.

Freddie has four crinkly wings, the back of which feature high contrast black, white and blue patterns that are great for attracting the attention of newborns. The front of each of the four wings holds a separate activity designed to stimulate the growing baby. There’s a wing full of textures, with three smaller wings each of which has a different feel, there’s corduroy, velour and satin as well as a ladybird sewn onto the actual wing. These are all designed to help baby experience new textures with both his hands and mouth.
The next wing features an easy to press squeaker covered with a satin feel material and a fluffy pompom. I was a little concerned that the pompom might shed fibres but I’ve pulled and pulled at it and nothing has come off. Again the pompom encourages baby to explore textures while the squeaker is a great introduction to cause and effect.

Moving on to the third wing and there’s a soft velour pocket which holds a ladybird shaped teether on a string. The teether is nicely textured and a good size for little hands to hold, and the addition of a pocket means there’s the added bonus that as baby gets older he’ll learn to put the ladybird into the pocket which will help develop hand/eye coordination.

The final wing features a baby safe mirror that’s partially hidden by a flap. All babies love looking at themselves in mirrors, but unfortunately this isn’t the best of mirrors. It badly distorts any reflection and it’s almost impossible to see any of my face when I look in it.

As a whole Freddie is very well made and securely stitched together with no visible seams or sharp edges. He also features a sturdy plastic clip so that he can be attached to buggies, cots, play gyms etc. This clip can be a little difficult to operate but invaluable both to prevent Freddie from getting lost (being thrown from the buggy for instance) and for hanging Freddie just within reach to encourage baby stretch to reach him. The only real major down point that I can see is that Freddie is not machine washable. Seeing as this is a toy that will get grubby and be sucked and chewed on, I can see a time when sponge cleaning just won’t be enough.

    When Freddy met Freddie

Although Freddie is suitable from newborn, I didn’t buy this for Freddy until he was three months old and already quite an active baby who enjoyed kicking and hitting toys. Freddie (the firefly’s) bright colours instantly grabbed his attention and although I couldn’t attach him to the play gym as planned I did attach him either the cot or bouncy chair. Freddy (my son) got the instant reward of the firefly rattling when he hit it and was soon grabbing at the rings on the tail. Now at 15 weeks Freddy will often be found chatting away to the firefly while holding onto one of the wings. He also enjoys kicking and hitting the firefly while sitting in his bouncy chair. At the moment he’s unable to access many of the different activities without Mummy or Daddy’s help, but loves being helped to feel all the different textures and thinks it’s really funny when the squeaker is pressed. Freddy also thinks it’s funny when Mummy helps Freddie talk to him, especially as they share a name and he likes looking at light reflected in the mirror. In fact, it’s safe to say that Freddy loves his Freddie the Firefly and it goes almost everywhere with. At night it’s attached to the side of his cot and during the day Freddie can be found either on the floor next to my little man or attached to his bouncy chair. And if we’re out and about the Freddie comes too, securely attached to the buggy or car seat.

I can already see Freddy changing the way he plays with this and the skills it’s helping him perfect. As his hand/eye coordination improves Freddy is able to grab the wings and be instantly rewarded with new textures and the crinkly sounds. As he gets older then there are even more rewards to come as he learns to press the squeaker and then there’s the teether.

    Final Words

Freddie the Firefly is great toy and firm favourite of 15 week old Freddy. The bright colours and contrasting patterns grab a baby’s attention from a very young age and the different activities then hold that attention as baby grows older. Although it’s true that babies learn from any toy, this really does seem to stimulate baby’s senses and encourage baby to develop all manner of skills. From the high contrast patterns on the wings that help a very young baby focus to the teether in the pocket the help a toddler’s fine motor skills this truly is a toy that grows with your baby. I personally can’t recommend Freddie the Firefly enough, and will be buying other toys in the range come Christmas time. And so Freddie the Firefly gets a very healthy four stars out of five from me, losing one star only because he is not machine washable.
