My high functioning asd teen boy loves Lego technic, he was glued to this from start to finish and he said it looks really cool, it was a great price, so he’s happy and I’m happy
Ordered this as a birthday present for my son, I got into Lego last Christmas and have made some great sets. I myself have made the Bugatti Bolide in Yellow my son liked it and says he wants to try.
The Lego sets I have made have been a pleasure to make, I’ve got one waiting for me but holding off, I will say though the parcel was very poorly wrapped.
This is an excellent medium size Technics set that is fun to build. The end product looks fantastic and it’s good to play with. Great for any Lego car fan. Five stars.
Another great LEGO set for older youngsters; these sets help to connect kids with us, their parents, one of the few play toys that kids and parents can work on together — a connection that often are not available in the virtual world …. claims made for LEGO have been researched and found to be largely beneficial in wider development contexts for both children and adults too;
Goodness LEGO….. there are many claims made for this wonderfully engaging play medium; hand-eye co-ordination, creative skills and imaginative development, co-creative development and communication skills, let alone relaxation and mindfulness that children (and adults) so need in a world of virtual games and often a disconnection from a reality. Play, childrens’ play is so very important for their social and intellectual development (that was Einstein), LEGO has long been one tool to help develop each and all of the above….. yes I am a fan of LEGO, for children, adults and therapy.
Still the best (value) for our children’s’ development, education and our connection with them…. sharing our time with our older kids is lovely; outdoors, sport, music, art and with LEGO over the years… play.
A very nicely detailed product that looks great when put together. Worth reading through the instructions a few times first as it took a moment for me to wrap my head around all the intricate pieces. Might be a bit complex for very young kids – given the 9+ age rating – but not that difficult to put together. It is quality stuff as Lego usually is. Good quality parts that are well packaged.
And excellent kit for a price. It is a branded item though and Lego isn’t exactly cheap. Can’t fault the product – would make an excellent gift to a collector too.
Love this! It mimics the authentic sports car really well, both in terms of design and moving parts. The black and yellow colour scheme is striking and looks great on display.
It isn’t as extensive as other models and the finished product is a bit on the smaller side, so it’s a great option for younger builders. Not a very straightforward build, but not too challenging either. Would work as a nice beginner set for those just getting into the Technic series!
Would be happy to recommend.
So the description states this is a:-
LEGO 42151 Technic bugatti bolide racing car model building set, race engineering toys. Collectible iconic sports vehicle construction kit.
This lego bugatti bolide race car has:-
* Realistic movement
* Authentic features
* Working:- W16 Engine
Steering
Scissor doors
* Yellow and Black colour theme sticker detail
Lego have come a long way since I had it as a child, many moons ago.
Everything is labelled and basically tells you and shows you what to do step by step.
I can’t tell you how many hours it took as they ended up doing it over a few days.
But the concentration that’s put into it putting the lego together and making this race car is unbelievable.
They have a science of achievement when made, which means a whole lot more than just going to buy a replica.
The price at the time of this review is 38.49.
So far so good
But I will update this review if needed.

To spend time putting together one of these models is similar to doing a jigsaw but when you have finished a jigsaw all their is to do is pull it apart and put it back in to the box but when you have finished one of these models you have got something to look at and try to see how it works and react with each other when you have made more than one.
The LEGO Bugatti Bolide is a fantastic technic set. The set has a good difficulty to it, presenting a firm but achievable challenge for kids and adults alike, however, it should be noted that there are some stickers in this set so a child may need some assistance lining these up.
As it’s a technic set it utilises gears and such to have interactive parts, you can stear the car and when it drives the pistons in the engine move (it is such a delight to build this mechanism, when it all clicks in your brain it is amazing).
The instructions are clear but lego also have a wonderful mobile app with interactive instructions, and the ability to split instructions among multiple people so you can build collaboratively – excellent for siblings or friends.
A great set overall!
LEGO 42151 Technic Bugatti Bolide Racing Car is a highly detailed and realistic model kit. It features over 3,600 pieces and is designed to be a challenging build for experienced LEGO enthusiasts.
I got this for my nephew and to say he was happy is an understatement.
There are 905 pieces to this box and it’s well beyond my skills (50 years old)
But my nephew (11 years old) assures me that he has what it takes to assemble it 😀
Looking forward to seeing the finished results
Highly recommended 10/10
As with all Lego, the kit is quality, and the instructions are thorough.
The age says 9+ however I would say this is more for teenagers and adults, it is a very technical build.
There is great attention to detail with the W16 engine and the way the gears interact with it. The kit is a lot more focused on the technical build side than the aesthetics, as you would expect with Lego Technik.
If anyone has done the Senna model, I would say this has more engineering in the design.
Just a slightly disappointing wheel design on such a great looking model.
This set is phenomenal. Despite it being made of Lego, it has a stunning resemblance to the real car making it the perfect set for any petrol head.
It is quite a complex build so may be best suited to older children unless there is an adult to help a younger child with it.
I am delighted with this item and recommend it for any car lover!
I got this for my 9 year old granddaughter who absolutely loves her Lego…
she’s not built it at the time of writing this review but her eyes lit up when i gave it her.
She’s opened it and had a read through the instructions which are up to the usual great Lego manual standards…… very well and logically written……. just waiting to finish building her light-house then she’s onto this one
It arrived very well packaged and the box looked great.
Currently on sale at under 40 (by a penny) but still great value for a genuine Lego kit….(i wish i had kept all of my Lego to pass on to her)
I will update this review when she has built it.
Based on the look on her face when i gave this to her its a definite recommended buy +++AAA
This is perfect for a car enthusiast; old or young. It is quite a tricky build for an age 9 plus rating, but experienced Lego builders will be just fine with this. Being ‘Technic’ it will test and develop your engineering skills!
This replica Bugatti Bolide is a licensed product so has loads of details and decals.
It feels a bit more special with its opening doors, working steering and most excitingly 16 moving pistons representing the W16 engine arrangement.
Once built this will look great on display in a kid’s bedroom or even a big kid’s office. There’s no age limit to fun with LEGO – highly recommended!
This is a really nice looking, and cool car, Lego absolutely keep making great translations from “life to Lego”.
Now as my title says, and my video shows, I did have 1 issue when making the car, I don’t know why the part didn’t fit, it’s possible I misplaced them, because this is quite a “fiddly” and unsurprisingly “Technical” build.
Now even thou it’s quite technical, the instructions are great, they take you through it step by step really well.
I love the fact that it has “steering” and a “moving engine” as it drives, it really take this to another level I, we, think(my 8 year old son & I), he loves it, and he can’t get over the “magic” as he says, of the engine moving, this is his first “Technic Lego”, so up to now, whilst he has found his lego very cool, this is a whole new level for him, and he is suitably impressed.
We both think the colours work great, not just the “Black & Yellow” of the body, but the colours that are just here and there, showing off little details. Personally, I think the fact that they even printed little “4 point harnesses” on the seats, is very cool, and it’s definitely the kind of detail, that make this an awesome looking kit, but also, a very “immersive play” set. I mean the added “patternation” to suggest “carbon fibre” parts is another great touch, there simply are so many details that just add to the impressive looks and functions of this kit.
The actual build is good too, strong, well put together, I think it will stand up to play well, it feels strong when you hold it once it’s built.
Once again, Lego have made a great kit, that will get a lot of play, and for me, the one thing that stands out most of all, is how my 8 year old keeps smiling, and using the word “magic”, well worth it.
A Bugatti? Yes, I know what one of those is. A Bugatti Bolide? Nope, never heard of it. Lego obviously has because it’s produced a spectacular model of that particular car. With the usual attention to detail, this near 1,000 piece model has all the authentic features based on the original car model; a working W16 engine, steering, opening bonnet and gullwing doors, for instance. Oh, ad the pistons move when the wheels rotate.
Built from the chassis up, don’t be scared though, as the manual is up to its high standard and shows exactly what goes where. The suggestion might be that it’s for those over the age of nine, but I can see this being attractive to those of a more mature vintage, which means me. Oh, and this version is about 3.5 million cheaper than a real one might cost whenever it goes into production.
My 7 year old is currently in the midst of building the LEGO 42151 Technic Bugatti Bolide.
This is one of the most challenging Lego builds he’s worked on as it is his first time building a Technic set and this Lego set is aimed at ages 9 and over. But he is determined to do it. He is absolutely enjoying it.
This was a fun kit to build – a lot of bits and quite challenging. It will take at least 5 hours and the result is quite a pleasing model. For the car pedants it’s a shame the engine is a V16 not a W16 but at least it has 16 cylinders.
My son really likes cars and asked me for a LEGO version.
+ great quality as expected by Lego
+ more complex with different types of pieces. Recommended for 9+ year old
+ car looks very cool
+ my son is very happy
Bought as a gift for my son (he’s 45 but still enjoys model making !).
The component parts are split into 4 bags . No 1 bag being the chassis and then working upwards .
Its a very detailed set and comes with a quality instruction manual .
He will enjoy spending hours on this and I assume with these technical kits , once built you leave them constructed , as it would be a devil of a job to deconstruct and put back into the right bags again.
One very minor criticism is that to get at the parts you more or less have to destroy the box it comes in as the ends are glued.
I am so upset its such a good set and I wanted to build it so much, but my Son saw it turn up so I couldn’t tell him I wanted to do it. Unfortunately even though he’s only 8, he no longer needs any help (although I got to do the stickers) so I get to watch and dream and maybe have a better look when he goes to bed. He had so much fun building it, the detail is fantastic, the w16 pistons all moving, the gullwing doors, the bonnet, engine covers… can you tell I wanted it, well it was a fantastic build and both me and my son think its a great set.
The LEGO Technic Bugatti Bolide has a recommended minimum age of 9, I would argue some adult guidance be available for a good few years old than that. Being a Technic product, it’s not just a model of a complex racing machine, it includes a study of some of the mechanics that allow that machine to function.
Over 900 pieces included, along with LEGO’s excellent step by step construction guide (over 150 pages), the Bolide makes an excellent project to work on with the kids. While mine are finding it challenging, I’m sure they could handle it alone, but they’re putting up with my intrusions as it really is an awesome project. You really can’t go wrong with genuine LEGO.
This is quite large box of Lego technics. I would recommend this set to kids who are experienced with standard Lego sets, and the larger ones.
You need to have some skill and it’s bit technical.
My boy started being comfortable with these before age of 9 but we did do a lot of Lego sets before. This box will make a fantastic present for and car/Lego enthusiast. Great activity for Christmas morning or birthday afternoon.
I would buy again and I would recommend.
I hope my review and photos were helpful
