Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am a over 75 year old and was able to connect this recorder up really easily. It would be differcult to go wrong. Much simpler to record programmes than my old one. I’ve only had it a few day but really like it. Its extremely light and stylish. I think good value

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery easy to set up good picture and signal . EPg guide not great, always reverts back to ‘ all channels ‘ when it would be nice just to have Favorites come up , also when looking through the programme guide and you hi light a programme to record it , the lines on the guide move up or down on that page so you constantly lose your place on the guide .

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSo this is a lovely set top box but a little too noisy to leave on standby through the night.
In the early hours of the morning the motor inside this would start making a loud humming presumably whilst updating???
Obviously if this is not in the room you sleep in then I’m sure that’s not a problem.
Due to this I never have it switched on at night.
Apart from that it’s a good system

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe Manhattan T2-R was very easy to set up and the remote was easy to program to carry out basic operations on the TV. This product is new so it remains to be seen how robust it will be over time. I would have rated it as a 5 star but the ‘Favourites’ cannot be put in a more logical and easier to access order. With the Humax, you could create multiple ‘Favourite Lists’, name them, and sort the order of the channels within the lists. This was purchased because it is compact and has a good overall reputation. It has proved a doddle to set up and program with a nicely designed remote. It’s a pity about the lack of functionality in setting ‘Favourites’ lists.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI’ll be honest, I love sky, and over the many years I have got used to the remote, the numbers of each channel and can swiftly navigate through menus with sky which led me to be a little wary when looking at this box, however I have had it a while now and actually, it’s pretty good. I have saved a fortune each month and with that, I would struggle to note any negatives apart from missing the interface of sky, but again this is likely because I’m used to sky and have been using them for years!

The picture quality is good and full HD on HD channels, the interface for channel list is pretty much the same as sky.. it does the job just fine and I’m not paying 80 a month for the service!

Give it a go, Amazon have a great returns policy but I think you will end up keeping it.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI was a bit careless when I ordered this device. I should have ordered the more expensive version, the T3-R. Don’t misunderstand me – the T2-R version is a fine product – looks good, works well, easy to set up & etc., – but it lacks the added Smart TV functionality of the T3-R version, so there are no ‘Catch Up TV’ functions such as iPlayer & etc available with the T2-R. To my mind, the T3-R variant offers considerably better value for money even though it does cost more. But if you’re not interested in using it for Smart TV features, then the T2-R should serve you well.

It is easy to use and has some great features e.g. can record several channels at the same time and will record the whole of a programme even if you have only started the recording half way through as long as the TV/recorder was on for the whole of the programme. I get some poor reception on some of the channels especially PBS and Yesterday, some programmes are unwatchable. Whether that is the recorder or my aerial I do not know but I suspect it is the recorder as other recording devices do not have that problem.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI binned off Virgin Media as they are robbing gits. Sane goes for Sky. I missed not being able to record, so this is where Manhatton box comes in. Turns out I only really watched freeview anyway, so recording this now is great. The memory is big and the set up is easy. Only negatives are the remote is too big and not well laid out, plus you can’t record Now TV, which means I can’t record F1. But I just watch it live so no biggys! All in all a great purchase. Recommended. By the way- I’m saving 94 a month binning Virgin and just using freeview, Netflix and Disney+

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe functionality of our Humax was great, but the interface and operation of t was always a little flaky.

Manhattan T2-R 500 GB Freeview HD is a nice looking item that was a breeze to set up, it will allow you to record two programmes whilst watching one; whilst not quite as many tuners as our Humax, this is plenty enough, we rarely (if ever) had four programmes recording at the same time on the Humax anyway.

The guide is really nicely laid out, and easy to move through. Recording and replaying is a simple task too. It is good that you can pause live TV when the kitchen timer goes off or the phone rings. The remote control is nicely laid out and easy to use as well.

This one doesn’t have access to the free to view catch up TV channels like BBC iPlayer etc, you would need to buy the T3-R for that (bear in mind the T3-R won’t do things like Netflix or Prime though).

All in all, this is a great Freeview recorder that so far has not caused any problems, it is British designed, and is good value for money at 120.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersTo be honest I’m confused with some of the bad reviews on here. I have a Smart TV which is connected to the internet and through this I can get on demand tv, netflix, prime and a host of other apps, so I chose the T2 because I didn’t need it to be connected to the internet. Although I can if I use an ethernet cable. If you need a box that connects to the internet (Wi-Fi) then you’ll need to pay a bit more and get the T3.
We had Sky, and have had it for 20+ years. Unfortunately we very rarely watched any of the sky channels and realised we were just paying for the pause, rewind, record and series link abilities.
I was a bit wary about getting rid of the sky box and buying a freeview box, mainly because of the bad reviews. Anyway, I took the plunge, cancelled Sky (that constantly goes up in price) and bought this T2 box and a new aeriel cable. Simple to connect. Works a treat.
Took a couple of days to get used to the remote, but now we have it’s very easy to use.
Like the sky box it records, series links, pauses live tv and has access to 15 HD channels and loads of other channels. As I said before, it doesn’t have on demand, but that was my choice. I’ve seen a review on the T3 and the reviewer has the same opinion that I do. There is nothing wrong with this box. It will do everything you need it to do.
The HD channels are clear and crisp and the audio seems to be 100%.
So far it’s recorded everything I want, and the recording process is extremely simple and all done on one button, record, delete, save, series link.
If it was crap, I would say, but at this time I have absolutely no complaints.

The programmes show well with my indoor aerial but recording is difficult, indeed impossible unless you keep the tv on. This seems to be because the booster attached to the aerial and powered by the hdmi socket on the tv will switch off when the tv is off meaning the signal disappears. But that’s not too serious as I don’t record much these days and for me, the main function of the box is to pause/rewind and get streaming programmes. There may be a way round it but I haven’t found it yet. For the money it is very good and to be fair, they warn you its best to use an external aerial. Trouble is, we are up high and I don’t want a lightning strike.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMy Freesat box gave up the ghost recently and I’d never really used Freeview so i thought i’d give this one a go as it was reasonably priced and had all the features I needed.

What annoyed me with freesat was they lost the C4 HD channel, which is a bit rubbish when all the other main stream channels were available in HD (there was a work around for this, but it wasn’t the best and you couldn’t record it).

This freeview option from Manhatten was very tempting because it was a lot cheaper than some of the freesat options out there. This is probably because there’s no wifi or smart TV options with it, it just allows you to record tv programmes and pause them. Which is fine by me as my TV already has all the Smart TV apps etc, so i just needed this option so i wasn’t needlessly duplicating things.

Set up was a doddle and took a few minutes,

Picture quality is excellent, as is the Programme Guide interface, it’s really neat, responsive and does the job really well. You can easily set your favourite channels instead of scrolling through loads of channles you never watch.

The remote is very neat as well and very easy to get used to and use, and you can program it with your TV remote which is a good feature.

All in all, i’m really impressed with this little freeview recorder, comes with a 2 year warranty as well if you register (which was very easy to do by the way), glad i bought it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe great thing about this little box ( MANHATTAN TR 500 gb version) is its sheer simplicity. It’s extremely easy to set up and equally easy to use. Within 5 minutes you’ll have it set up, within 10 you’ll be able to use it and within a day or two you’ll be a master of this little piece of kit.

The design of this digital box is sleek considering it holds 500 gb of memory which is around 300 hours of tv programs. The TR 2 version doesn’t have any internet capabilities, which means no BBC IPLAYER sorry, but that adds to its ease of use and simplicity.

The only gripe I have with this machine is that it doesn’t allow you to organise the channels into the order you want, even when creating a favourite list? So you’re left with the muddle of programs which FREEVIEW sadly is, with itv and channel 5 programs being all over the place etc. But that’s a minor gripe. The Manhattan T2 500 gb is a fine piece of ki

A really worthy hd recorder made by a British manufacturer. Easy to set up and install. Picture and sound are of a good quality. A nice remote to control everything. The box or unit itself is neat and compact. Nice that Manhattan allow people to plug headphones into the back since many tvs simply don’t have wired headphone sockets anymore. I like the TRASH feature for deleting programmes when you’ve finished watching them. After sending a recorded programme to the trash, you can choose to empty the trash, losing the program permanently, or if for some reason you want to view something again, you can reinstall it again. Program guide is smooth and fast when scrolling. The only problem I encountered which was easily solved was that sometimes there would be a slight stutter in the picture/sound when watching live or a recorded program. Manhattan asked me to tell them the signal strength for the affected channel. I had 100 percent for both signal strength and quality. Manhattan said the signal strength was too strong at 100 per cent and that would cause the aforementioned problems. Between 70 and 80 per cent signal strength and 100 percent signal quality is what works best on the freeview platform. I bought a cheap attenuator from Amazon which allows you to dial down the strength. Hey presto! Problem solved. Perfect picture and sound! Clifford Slug is happy!
