I bought this set because it looked sturdy. Most sand toys get broken pretty quickly but this looks like it will last. Kids have loved playing with it without sand too.
This has been worth its weight in gold – my daughter has loved using the little cup cake moulds with play doh, and on the beach with sand, and it continues to offer her hours of make believe delight. If we were to lose these, I’d buy them again in a heartbeat.
A fun activity to play with on the beach I like that it comes with a mesh bag which helps the sun to fall out easily and the little characters on top are cute
Love this product, it is well made and a great size.
After receiving this , I have ordered another one, so my grandson has one at mine and at home. It’s fab
Very robust and can tell will last a long time bought for a bday present for a sandpit but could take on holiday or to seaside/ worth the extra money as it will last for a long time. My 3 year old loved it and a good bath toy too hours of fun baking cakes with her big siste
What a fantastic addition to our beach toys a wonderful way to play on the sand and with the sand using imagination involving us as parents and not just building sand castles that eventually get knocked over there we did use some of the pieces to decorate a sandcastle the children had great fun having a sand caf
Lovely bright set with friendly faces on all utensils. Good quality material with chunky handles for small hand. A good size too grandson loves it. Good value for money and quick delivery
Bought these for a friend’s daughter who loves going to the beach. Looked a great gift and the two year old LOVED them and played for hours with them. Didn’t take up much room in the beach bag either!
This is the same bought them for my granddaughters birthday who will be too on the 16th May. Very very pleased with this & I am sure she will have hours of fu
Very sturdy plastic and a nice item for slightly older kids. Use in the bath until the weather is good enough for outside! Fantastic quality. Some people saying the lid doesn’t click on well but why does it need to?
This is a really cute bucket and spade set. I wanted something slightly different for my daughter this summer on the beach and I think this looks great and will really appeal to her. My only slight gripe is that the turtle lid doesn’t clip or fit really well on to the bucket and keeps popping off. However the whole set is great quality and I love the Melissa and doug brand so would expect nothing less. The price is great as it includes the prime delivery which you really can’t fault. I would hesitate to recommend over traditional bucket and spade sets.
This was posted directly to my 5 year old Granddaughter. So I have not seen it myself. I believe she loves it to play with water. Unfortunately the sand in her sandpit is the wrong texture for the sand to fall through. Very strong and good value for money.
eally nicely made and has a wet weather use too – in the bath tub with a little bubble bath you can whisk up loads of bubbles in the bowl! gone down a storm like that I’m not sure it will ever see the garden now 🙂 very pleased
Really pleased with this sand/ water tower for my grandson. He liked experimenting with it before it made it to sandpit! Lots to look at and play with, works well with sand and stands up to boisterous play. Would recommend!
bought this for my son to use in water and sand. It isn’t so good in water the wheels and bucket do not hold enough water to build up the weight to tilt or twirl but it’s great for sand. played with it for 2 hours straight this afternoon. everything worked and moved and the base can be used like a sieve. lightweight for him to move about and carrying handle is handy. he keeps trying to say octopus now too. great value for money
Bought this for my 10yr old daughter to take on holiday to play on the beach. Looks fun & will hopefully provide a few hours of playful fun. Will bring home to use in the sandpit or to take to the local beach.
my toddler spent the whole afternoon making cupcakes in her sandpit with this set …. like Melissa and Doug toys generally, it is good quality and not too fussy ..Great job ..
Bought for our daughter when we went on Beach holiday. It kept her occupied for hours. The only jiggle is that the lid (colander) doesn’t fix on so it can be tricky for little hands to carry the whole set together. But it is the usual Melissa and Doug quality item.
THis play set is fabulous. Gave it as a present and it was a hit!!! It’s fun and different and so far the little boy I got it for is delighted. Great buy!
This is a good sand toy, very tough, not too easily scratched by the sand and the gender-neutral colours pleased me greatly. It seems to appeal to both girls and boys from age 3 upwards. What you get is mostly what you see with this toy but I would add a few things:
1. Hinged cupcake case – we haven’t used it yet, but I am not convinced it’s going to last very long when we do. There isn’t an actual hinge so I wonder of the plastic may just snap.
2. The detailing (e.g. the face on the starfish, the pattern on the fish etc) is not very deep, really quite shallow. So, to get top results you need to be quite good at using sand that is exactly damp enough and packing it in really tightly. This will annoy younger perfectionists, but should be ok for a 4 or 5 year-old to master.
3. The “icing pen” is just a piece of rubber, hollow on the reverse, which makes it look like a cheap afterthought.
4. The lids don’t screw, click or stay on their matching bases. I didn’t think it was a big deal, but my child was irritated by this.
5. We liked the little mesh bag to keep the bits together.
Overall, we like this and it makes a nice change from building sand castles.
