Really happy with this product but only had it 8 weeks and I have 4 batteries flashing red, I know it means the batteries are faulty but I don’t understand why so soon and what to do about it?
As I had a different charger previously I find this one to take longer to charge, using a normal USB cable with apple charger, have not tried with samsung fast charger as could be quicker, anyway I like it, as have 8 batteries and they last for long, good for gamers as myself.
Perfect! Simple to use, no nonsense Ni- MH/Ni-Cd smart battery charger. Up to eight mixed AA and AAA rechargeable batteries can be charged simultaneously. Each cell is monitored by a bespoke LED continuously showing the battery status. Various battery conditions are monitored by specific LED colours and modes. The charger takes its supply from a USB outlet. This results in a trickle charge, which ensures the batteries receive their optimum charge, ensuring maximum capacity and longevity. If you want a fast charge this is not the product for you. A bonus is the POWEROWL charger comes with eight 1.2v 2800mAh HR6 AA POWEROWL batteries.
The charger is lightweight and very portable, as well as appearing well made and fit for purpose.
I have no hesitation in recommending this product.
The positives are the following:
– Lightweight
– Portable
– Easy to carry
– Lights which make sense related to battery status
– Batteries look and work great, use them for 2 XBOX ONE controllers and they work for hours and hours and forgot about it. Rest of them are currently in use for wireless mouse, keyboards, remotes. Time will tell about the others.
Negatives:
– For a product this new, it should have been provided with USB-C (hello? 2020?)
– CONSTANT CLICKING -> I have no idea what it is – every 3-4 seconds there are 4 clicks which sounds like a clock when used. Must mention this happens when used to any USB source.
EDIT 15th May 2020:
The company contacted me and were willing to explain every reason on why this happens. I have learned the following:
– Based on the INPUT power needed (maximum 2A) and the popularity of Micro USB, this was the best decision for the company to satisfy the customer
– The clicking sound while charging is the MOS Switch – every 20ms the charger switches the slow th prevent overheating and protecting the batteries.
Based on this, I have learned the company is willing to do anything possible to satisfy the customer and their needs. From that, they promise they will switch to USB-C the moment the demand is higher than Micro USB and always available for any explanation on why they took any decisions regarding their product design.
I highly recommend this product, especially because of their customer service and their great products!
