It was easy to install this car camera and works well so far, picture quality is good, very clear even at night. I notice the price has been dropped which is now a fair price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHas some decent features (compared to premium dashcams) however, with some niggles in picture quality that make this model good enough, but not perfect.

    Pros:
GPS speedometer that tells (includes location and speed)
    Vehicle registration stamp
    Wi-Fi
    Adhesive pad-mounted

    Cons:
    The picture quality wasn’t perfect

This is a small dashcam with some good features considering the suggested price point. It is held securely in place via the strong adhesive pads (be sure to place this carefully, otherwise you’ll have difficulty getting it off).

The only real downside was the picture quality not being as good as expected. It is certainly useable, but I could see that the quality of sharpness isn’t 100% there.
Overall, for the cost and features, this dashcam is well worth considering.

This is a pretty good dashcam, although it is missing a couple of features that would bring it up to the next level. The plus sides are that it is easy to setup, and the picture quality is really good, far better than I had expected. The angle the camera covers is also wide. The real hassle for he is not being able to view video back on the dashcam itself, only on the Ring app, which is rather clunky to use. However, for what seems a good price, this isn’t bad at all.

The only issues I faced with this dashcam came at the very beginning when I was trying to install it or rather learn how to install it. The instructions are very limited in details and I had to improvise myself to actually fit it in my car.

Once installed, the setup was quite straightforward and it was a matter of minutes before I started using the dashcam on my car.

The image quality is acceptable, it is clear enough to use on an insurance claim, but isn’t as clear as a phone camera. The 2mp sensor means that while the quality is good, the size of the images/videos isn’t cannot be expanded without losing quality. So when watching rewinds on a small display it would look fine, but would be quite pixelated on a big screen.

The sd card options makes it even more handy and there are different recording options and features to rely on.

App support is basic but still very appreciated. My previous dashcam did not even have any app support so this one is definitely an upgrade.

The price at the time of this review was 49.99 which I find very competitive and worth it. Overall, a decent options with negligible limitations considering the price.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersIt’s small, compact, and looks quite sleek, so it mounts nicely on my dashboard without looking odd or occupying much viewing space.

The installation process is a breeze. The adhesive is very strong and quickly sticks to the window (it’s also rather difficult to move it in any way afterwards so be sure to have it set up in the correct position on the first try). The mount is sturdy enough not to wobble or tilt when the camera is connected and disconnected to it.

The camera’s also very simple to use and its settings are easy to navigate. The buttons are responsive and can easily be pressed while the camera’s mounted, so the recording button is a good shortcut to be able to start recording footage at any time at the click of one button.

Image quality is fantastic. Very clear and sharp, with a reasonable field view to capture absolutely everything to the front of my car (the whole road is visible most of the time, which is excellent). Black-and-white night vision is also surprisingly clear. It’s not too contrasted or bright, which is an issue I’ve had with my previous dashcam (the imbalance in colour would often cause some objects to appear too vague).

The app is very limited, but for the price I really can’t fault it. I can download the videos and then view them from my phone gallery, but it would’ve been better if I could preview each clip before downloading it so I know which specific video I’d need to download (instead of having to download all of them and then find a specific clip).

Other than that though, it’s excellent value for money. I’d be happy to recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis Ring smart dash cam has proven on several occasions to be a very good dash camera and nothing short of excellent. Firstly, the resolution is incredible and although it says 1080p quality, it seemed a little more closer to 2k resolution. The camera captures your environment in HD, where details can easily be recognisable in most conditions. I will say that at night time, the camera does seem to slip in resolution, but this is expected at this price range. I will agree with one reviewer that it is a shame to not be able to see footage instantly on the device itself. Though, for me, this isn’t a big deal since it is a lot easier to see details in the footage on a larger display such as a tablet or mobile phone.

Footage is synced and uploaded onto the app which has a fairly good amount of storage allowance. Storage can easily be deleted to free up more space so I don’t see how you could ever run out of space. Essentially, hold onto the clips that matter or raise concern. The video has great field of vision so it’s unlikely it will ever miss out on the action. Charge is long lasting and the design is compact so won’t occupy a lot of space in your car, nor obstruct your view of the road in any way. The fixing is secure and I’ve had no issues with it coming lose when in use since I have had this installed.

Hence, a clear 5 star dash cam by Ring Automotive. Would highly recommend!

Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! 🙂

A good quality dash cam. Smart? Im not so sure. Comes with micro sd card that can easily be taken out to review footage. Must be plugged into the car for it to be working. Does not work via an internal battery. This was slightly annoying as if footage needed to be reviewed quickly and there was a problem with the car or car battery then this would not be possible. I would say this is fairly more expensive than competitor brands and the quality I would say is equal to most. It does the job as a dash cam but I think there is some other options which offer better value.

First impressions was this is very small, about the size of a box of Cook’s Matches, which means smaller footprint and less obscuring to my sight.

The monitor on the camera allows for complete setup of the device with resolution interchangeable between 720 and 1080p.
For the price the quality is pretty decent, if a little retro in functionality as I worked my way through the settings. Important to note that I am able to record audio if I choose to. I simply flick this setting though the camera settings.

Having set the camera up in the car, two things were apparent, firstly the connection point to the windscreen is via a 3M type double sided pad, you get a spare too.
The connection of the bracket to the camera itself, is magnetic – which I much prefer to the suction type, as the fit is faultless without the occasional ‘ping’ as it plucks off the windscreen.
The overall connection was simple and straightforward. The magnetic connectivity is very good, it holds it firmly. You do need to ensure you connect the camera to the magnetic pad securely, otherwise you’ll find the power doesn’t make it’s way though to the camera.

Secondly, the quality of the recorded clips are sharp, clear, regardless of day or night. Very impressive for a camera in this price range.

The app which I downloaded to my smartphone is simple. Too simple. I am not able to change any settings through it. It is primarily only for cataloging the clips and images once the camera is linked with the app through wifi.
The app does not allow you to watch the clips you’ve downloaded from the camera. From the app, I need to download the clips I want, to my phone and then view them in my phone’s gallery. I wasn’t very keen on the overall functionality of the app.

    Downsides:
    No GPS functionality
Limted Usablily of the App which doesn’t allow clip viewing.

To Conclude, at it’s current price, there are very good options available through Amazon already. If it was around half it’s current price it would reflect it’s limited capabilities far better and would be a very reasonable purchase.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersExcellent dash cam, very compact and easy to set up. The picture quality is very good and it’s very easy to operate. The camera is securely mounted, and doesn’t move when driving. Overall really good value for money.

This is a pretty straightforward and simple to use dash cam. The installation is easy and once mounted, it includes a 12v to micro USB power cable. I don’t like having cables hanging down so I purchased a microUSB hardwire power kit separately and used this in stead. Micro USB is a generic standard, so you don’t need a Ring specific accessory, any micros will work. Once installed the manual operation is pretty good, although I do recommend investing in a large memory card, ie 16-32GB as this will allow longer recordings before its ‘scrubbed’ and overwritten. The automatic G sensor activation seems to work well and most importantly, the easy to use app allows you to quickly and effectively manage the files so you can retrieve footage quickly and easily if required. Quality wise, Im comparing it to a 500 series next base and the picture quality isn’t as good on the Ring, but in fairness, it is less than half the price and also the app for the Ring is a lot better in my opinion.

I’ve installed this in the other half’s car. It was remarkably easy to install, I lever tool is included to get into the rubber seals around the car. I run the cable along the roof lining down the side of the front window under the dashboard and down to the cigarette lighter where it plugs in. The end of the plug has a USB port so I can also keep my phone plugged in. The camera mount sticks to the window with the included sticky pads. A magnet lets you place the camera on or off the window as required without having to move your cables or unplug as a plug port is included on the mount and on the camera itself. There are only a few buttons. Up/down arrow, power, menu, Rec and save so it’s easy enough to work it all out even without instructions. Note you will need a memory card (not included) before you can record. Plug it in and let it go. Switching on the car turns the camera on and starts the recording. For the price this is an excellent little camera and well worth having. Very happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis Ring Automotive RSDC2000 Dashcam is both well-made and well thought out. it’s compact and straightforward to navigate your way around its simple settings. The cam works well in conjunction with the Ring Connect app which has a whole host of usable features and storage options within it. That said, the option to use my own 32GB Micro-SD card is my preference and suits my needs more than adequately. The 1080p image on the 2.0″ display is crisp and offers a large 120 field of view, which captures a large area of the road ahead. The power cord is long enough to route out of sight and hide away, while the camera is discreet enough to fit behind the rear-view mirror. The power lead itself has a 12v DC connection to power and Micro USB to connect to the unit which is a little outdated as many modern cars have USB capability which will no doubt be the majority within the next couple of years. I would suspect there will be an add on cable available to hardwire to the vehicle at some point although the connection to the unit is widely available and could no doubt be purchased from a third party to power the unit by USB or from the battery.

The night vision is effective and the G-sensor automatically save files in the event of a collision. It’s also WIFI enabled which means connecting to the app and other devices is straightforward without a great deal of fuss.

Once installed the dash camera works like any other. When it receives the power it switches on and starts recording, then switches off again when power is cut. In most cars, that means all you need to do is plugin once and forget about the camera and leave it to do its job. That said, some models have constant power through their 12V outlet, even when the ignition is off, so check first.

Full HD 1080p 30fps recording for clear, high recording quality
120 field of view to capture a wide view of the road
Ring Connect and WiFi-enabled – works with Ring Connect App
Easy installation and removal with a magnetic mount and trim tool included
G-sensor to automatically save files in the event of a collision
    Included Components: quick start instructions

In summary, it’s a great little dashcam that produces high-quality images and recordings of the road ahead. Its intelligent features do the work in the event of a collision and provide that little bit of peace of mind when I’m out on the road. It’s great value for what it is and I am more than happy to recommend it.
