No external power supply needed so much easier and neater than before.
Performance is obviously better than spinning disk previous device, but probably due to limitations of USB connection doesn’t feel quite as fast as internal drive, so I still tend to move the games that I am frequently playing onto the internal drive and any not currently used off onto this external SSD.
Compact, high speed and large capacity. I find the Samsung T7 Shield an ideal partner for my Macbook Air whilst editing video in Final Cut Pro. Bought it whilst on offer so am doubly happy.
This allows me to offload applications and large files from my M2 Mac Mini. It’s very fast to transfer files and I leave it plugged in all the time. The apps perform the same as when installed natively. Fantastic.
Great price from Amazon and a really nice fast drive on a Mac. I did forget my password so had to totally wipe the drive and start again with Samsung help. Very good aftersales suppo
My old external backup HDD started making worrying noises so it was time to replace before it inevitably failed on the same day as my actual computer decided to have an issue. A tiny solid state (and therefore no moving parts) HDD which draws power via USB has twice the capacity of the legacy backup drive.
I needed a high capacity external hard drive that was small enough to transport and light weight too.
This was a perfect choice and hasn’t let me down.
Read and Write speeds are fast. The item is small and lightweight which is great for travelling with if you need to backup large files out and about.
I would recommend this product.
I used this to breath life into an older iMac. I installed the Mac OS on this drive, and it’s transformed the Mac from an almost unusable machine to something that is a pleasure to use.
The fact that it came with both USB-A and USB-C was superb too.
I needed a decent hard drive to store my music catalogue for DJ-ing. This offering from Samsung looked to be my best option. It’s a nice compact size, has a rubberised outer & hopefully will be durable & reliable. Only time will tell but so far, I’m impressed. Its also a high speed drive, so transferring files is pretty quick.
I decided to recover some much needed space on my computer which meant transferring 260gb+ of photos, videos, music and random other files back into my daughter possession.
Her birthday was approaching, when I saw this on Amazon, and the price at the time was excellent.
This drive gets five stars all day long from me.
File transfer speed is rapid, item is very much pocket size and all in a really quite attractive anodized aluminium outer shell. It comes complete with C type to C type data cable, and I was more than happy to give it as a present.
And more to the point will be more than happy to buy again.
I liked the fact that it has additional security with the fingerprint reader/scanner. I feel my files are safer compared to my previous HDD. Oh..and it’s quite fast too. I wish it has an inbuilt keyring holder like the SanDisk Extreme does. However this is now my favourite external solid state drive. Delivery came on time too
Looks and feels sturdy. I have not tested it in any harsh environment but it did survive a few meter tall drops to hard concrete without damage, internally or otherwise. Fast read and write speeds.
Perfect and a good deal. It is so small and light it feels like a debit card in your pocket. Super fast and comes with a usb and a usb-c cable so you can use on multiple devices. Couldn’t ask for more.
Nice quality feel, seems to work fine for my purposes of recording constant dashcam & security video, no issues to report after several months continuous use. High temperature capability useful when operating in a closed vehicle recording security camera video 24/7.
Product is great. It’s exactly what it says on the box. It’s a (very) fast SSD to use for storage or whatever. It’s durable (I’ve dropped it a few times and it’s still fine) comes with a USB C to USB C and USB B cable
PSSD really neat size and love the colour as it contrasts with the other ext hard disc – not the most important thing I know but useful not to have to stick labels on everything. As to function – so far so good. Plus it arrived much faster than estimated which was very helpful.
I did a BM Disk Speed Test and got around 700-750Mbps on both Read & Write.
The T7 is a great solution to Portable and Fast storage.
I run Final Cut Pro projects and upload Lightroom photos onto this drive and works great.
Decided to use external storage instead of my laptop’s main storage then I’ve still got all my files should my laptop fail (I also back-up to another drive too). Works well, fast transfer and with more than enough capacity for me. Only issue is the laptop can drop the connection to the drive (not this product’s fault).
This HD is the best I’ve ever bought. I wish they had them in 4TB or more. But the speed, simplicity and physical size just out-rules anything I’ve ever had before. I use it to run big Music Production and Video projects on a M1 Max MacBook Pro. Haven’t had a single lag yet. Where as doing the same work through my normal LaCie hard drive is a painstaking experience. Should have bought this years ago!
Depending on my mood, I either upload the video file in 1, directly to the usual social places, or edit it, and upload that – the point being these drives are yet to let me down at all, and together with OBS, have yet to skip a beat (my settings are 16-24mbps on 1440, and 32-40mbps on 4K – both 60fps). Literally not 1 dropped frame in many hundreds of hours of content.
I can highly recommend them for anyone else too lazy to open up their computer case, and upgrade their internal drives (that’s my excuse anyway, due to all the rigmarole that it entails, with reformatting and reinstalling stuff..)
What’s also great, I can use one of these to very quickly transfer large video files to take on visits and showcase my work, and again, I use 2 of these, together with 1 older model, side by side, to give 3 high speed drives on the end of USB cables.
It obviously goes without saying to ensure your computer’s USB connectors are up to date and not ancient, or these things will not work very well, like with anything.
The drive is incredibly small and light weight so carrying it around isn’t a problem, also there is no worry about data loss if the drive is accidentally dropped unlike a normal HDD.
There is nothing at all I can say against the product, it may be a little costly but for peace of mind it’s worth every penny.
I easily installed the software for password and 256 bit encryption.
I formatted for NTFS, as I am using as an external backup for a Win11 PC.
Write speed is a solid 500MBs for large files and about half that for small files. Not bad for encrypted files.
The drive got warm but not enough to cause any kind of concern.
