Love these, is it lazy? Yep but what the heck!! However! Imagine your not home, you can turn your lights on without even being home,, and there not expensive, easy to set up with Alexa!
I couldn’t get them to connect to the TVLive app, so I read the reviews and seen someone recommend the VeSync app, and they connected straight away!!! Anyway I’ve only just started using them so seems good so far. Will update if anything changes.
It took me a while to install it, even needing to contact my wi-fi provider for help, but after that was solved, super easy! Their app is easy to use and integrates well with iPhone to work as a switch. I’ll get more for other bits of my house.
I’ve never in my life had a tech product this easy to install. App downloaded and signed up, Both plugs installed, set up, named, linked to Alexa, linked to the internet, tested and working in literally a few minutes. Amazing! Thank you TVLIVE!
I wish everything else in life was this simple!
The first plug fitted was mildly inconvenient in that you have to load a separate App initially. But when that has been done for the first socket, Alexa then recognises it and can be commanded by voice. Subsequent sockets were immediately identified by the App and “enabled” to Alexa. Naturally each socket can be individually named to something appropriate to your use when it has been installed.
Ideal smart plugs, exactly what I wanted,had a little problem connecting them to Alexa so I had to down load another APP called VeSync inorder to get them connected to Alexa
These are so easy to set up and have worked perfectly so far. I can now use my Alexa to turn on multiple lamps around the house which is brilliant!
Great way to make regular items like lamps and plug in radiators part of the smart home. I can control the heating like a hive system with this turning it on before I get home. Boom
The VeSync app was easy to install through the Apple Store.
My iPad/the app located the device instantly, and connecting to it was seamless.
The current version of the VeSync app (as of Feb 2024) was very intuitive to work out how to set up the on/off times for the desired days. One set for weekdays, a different set of times for weekends.
The only minor issue is that the designer/manufacture has failed to take into account that UK plugs are a standard shape, and this does not conform to that shape. It fouls the on/off switch. It still works, but it is a flaw, and if they can not get such a simple thing right, what else have they got wrong?
Bought 2 more anyways, as at the price . . .
Two devices for less than the cost of one Hive smart plug. Has its own app and easy to set up. Works with Alexa as well. Have one which switches electric blanket on at set time then switches it off an hour later. Schedule easy to setup on app. Well worth the price.
First you’ll need to download and install the VeSync app from the appropriate store. The app was troublesome – it just would not connect to my wifi, regardless of settings. Eventually it just decided to connect out of the blue. That was the only difficult part of the process so if you have trouble just keep at it. If your router shares the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands (autoselect) then it may be worth switching this off so that the 2 bands are separate. rename the 2.4GHz band to your normal SSID name and then keep trying. Once it has connected you can re-enable the auto switching and make sure your SSID is the same
Once connected, you can set up the plug quite simply by following the instructions in the app. If you have the Alexa app installed it will then pop up to ask for permission to Sync. this is brilliant as it means then Alexa takes over and you can name and control it as you wish. You can then add each plug to a group/room so that you can control them all together. For example I have called one of mine ‘Sofa Lamp’ and another ‘Corner Lamp’ and added them both to the group ‘Lights’. This means I can say ‘Alexa – switch on corner lamp’ and it will switch just that lamp on, or I can say ‘Alexa – turn on lights’ and it will switch them all on. Or I can say ‘Alexa, switch lights on at 4pm today’ and it will do that – or you can set a schedule up in the Alexa app. Very useful
The button on the side is to use to switch on/off the smart connection. I’ve not used this at all – as soon as I plug the socket in it flashed blue to say it was ready to pair with the app
I have no idea how reliable or long lasting they are, but for the last 3 days I have had great pleasure from randomly switching lights on and off with voice commands 🙂
Arrived on time and was relatively easy to set up although you do have to download a different app. I bought it specifically use with the Smarthome app as it says it does so but there was no way to get the Smarthome app to recognise the device. When I downloaded the suggested app it connected immediately and so far has been doing what it needs to do
Started by trying and trying to get the plugs to connect but whatever I did nothing. So after nearly 24 hours of on and off trying I decided to get the box to see if there were any instructions. Lo and behold even though the Alexa app says se smart life app the instructions say use VE SYNC and guess what it worked straight away. So what have I learnt from this. To stop being a smart ass and just read the instructions. Amazon can you please update the Alexa app to say to use VE SYNC please.
So easy to setup. Works great. I setup a routine in the Alexa app really easily now she switches my lights on with voice command.
Had a slight issue with one of the plugs not connecting after about a week however seller sorted me out swiftly with replacements A* service.
OK – so I struggled to set up a light switch yesterday and maybe those struggles helped me to do it easily today, but it was a 2 minute job to get both of the switches working and integrated with Alexa. I’ve only had the things about half an hour so it’s a bit early for a meaningful review – but they seem fine.
had these working within minutes. with light flashing the Smart life app found the plug and added it in. my mercusys mesh wifi told me they had been connected and they soon appeared in Google assistant. I have 4 of another make that don’t work and I’ve just returned 4 others. these are brilliant.
This is a life changer. I got this for my elderly mum to switch her massage chair on and off via her Alexa as the plug is behind the chair and difficult to access. Works a treat although it was fiddly to setup. Thank goodness I didn’t give up.
It took me seconds to connect it to Alexa. From the app you can set up timers etc and from Alexa you can set up a routine. I.e. turn on coffee machine certain days of the week at a certain time.
Highly recommend this brand. I also have the door sensor and works amazing too.
As long as you press the button once to turn it on to flash fast and a second time .. hold it on for 10 secs so it flashes slowly only then will it connect to Alexa

Android 13 Instructions – We don’t have iPhones
Before they even arrive, install the “Smart Life” App – Developer “Volvano Technology Limited”
Create an account etc. sorted.
Open Google Home at the top select “Connect Smart Life” – It will tell you that there are no devices yet. Of course!
Ensure Smart Life App Permissions has Bluetooth “Discover Nearby Devices Enabled” – You do this by finding the App in your Library, press and hols, Select App Info – Permissions – “Nearby Devices” give the app these permissions.
When the plugs arrive, plug into a socket (plug an appliance in to check it is working at the end, I used a lamp)
Press and hold the power button no the side for 5 seconds – now release.
Open Smart Life App – Select Add Device – Within seconds it finds it, you can now control it, set timers etc.
If you now open Google Home – If not already added, select the “Connect Smart Life” option at the top. Follow the prompts.
From now on every device you add to Smart Life automatically shows up in Google Home and you can control it from anywhere in the world!
It was so painless, all internal and external Xmas lights now controlled via Google Home!
Having had to send back some made or sold by OYU because after over an hour of trying they simply would not connect to wi-fi, these were a delight. Both connected easily and quickly without drama or having to go into my router and try to change settings – a perilous business for a non-techie like me.
I cannot speak for their longevity as they have only just been put to use. My 4 star rating is because they foul the main socket switch slightly.
I have tried a number of smart plugs, and have sent several types back that just wouldn’t connect to my wifi, no matter how many times I tried or used the technical help.
After trying to save 5 and buying some cheaper plugs and again sending them back. I bought these and they were a breath of fresh air, in fact I didn’t even need to put them into discovery mode, the smartlife app picked them up straight away, took less than 1 minute to connect them!
These are now my go to plugs every time.
They were cheap to buy and do what they are supposed to: you can turn them on and off using smartphone app or connect to one of smart assistants and controll the plugs this way.
I like that the app gives you power consumption readings, so you can check how much power you’re using.
The only downside is that sometimes my Alexa would tell me that the plug is offline – then I have to go into “Smart Life” app and turn the plug on manually. Then everything is back to normal. But it only happens very rarely.
Overall it’s a great way to ‘dip your toes’ into the smart home environment and see if it’s something for you. Also using smart plugs you can make some devices “smart” and create timers and routines for them to turn on (for example turning on lamps when you’re on holiday).
These are a great addition to the household especially if you have a disability. They can be either timer set or voice controlled thru alexa/Google etc all you need is the app on smartphone. These also have a sunrise /sunset option in scenes settings which is great 4 the winter nights rolling in defo recommend
Works well and stays connected, only thing I find annoying is that when they plug is switched OFF it has the switch lit up blue all the time, only when you turn it ON it then goes red. Every other smart plug I have had is completely blank until you switch it on, then it goes blue.
Couldn’t get the Smart Life app to recognise the plugs but having seen one of the other comments, decided to use the Jinvoo app. This immediately recognised the plugs and they now work well with my Alexa
Got these as I have an electric heater out in the summerhouse where I now work. Before, I’d have to go out on the rain and wind to turn the heater on before I wanted to work but now I just say “Alexa, put the heater on” and it’s done! These connect via their own app but integrate into the Alexa app where you can rename them (to “heater” for example). They have a nice blue and purple light on the side when they are on or off and simply do the job.
I already have a smart plug from a different manufacturer and this TVLIVE plug uses the same app (Smart Life) so it was very easy to configure the new units. The smart plugs work well and would be perfect apart from the fact that their size/shape slightly fouls on switches on my wall sockets. This means that the smart plug isn’t quite flush with the wall socket by about a millimetre. The plug’s prongs are in far enough that it works fine but I wish the manufacturer had checked it for clearance with a wider range of wall sockets.
Great to use once you have figured out how to set them up! I didn’t realise I had to log into my internet IP a address to change to the correct internet setting as it states on the instructions. Since they work great, very happy.
did a bit of research on smart plugs before i purchased this. Was hoping that it was integrated with my google home set up but you have to download the specific app first to set it up and then it show sup in google home. once set up it works absolutely fine though. there is even an option on the app to show power consumption. the plug itself just about fits on a standard twin socket but doesn’t sit flush to it but it only sticks out a very little bit.
I got these to plug my Christmas tree lights into as access to the socket was difficult once the tree was in positionthey are so easy to set up and I can override on the app if I want to. So much easier to use and set up than the usual ones where you have to move the fingers up or down to set up, I find they don’t keep very good time and after a while they change and are likely to get moved or changed if touched as well as taking up so much room often means losing an adjacent socket. Would recommend these to anyone and will be replacing the other timers already in use with these.
Firstly, the plug sockets are pretty small and will fit into your wall socket easily without making impossible to plug anything in next to them. So that’s a plus point.
The reason for knocking off a star is that they’re a pain to set up. These plugs don’t play nicely with a 5GHz wifi network. So after attempting to connect them numerous times and getting ready to send them back, I tried switching off the 5GHz at the router and left only the 2.4GHz operating. Hey presto, they connected fine. After switching the 5GHz back on, they’ve worked without a hitch since.
The instructions are tiny and old farts like me might have a spot of bother just trying to read them. You can find them online though. The instructions are also fairly sparse and not the easiest to follow. I just downloaded their app from the Play Store, registered the plug sockets and Alexa picked them up straight away after that.
All in all, they do just what they’re supposed to, as long as you’re not a complete technophobe and are able to do some basic things not mentioned in the instructions.
These devices are good when working but setting them up for me was a pain. After doing some online reading I finally found a comment suggesting to use an older version of android. As soon as I did this everything worked as on the install leaflet. Which is also annoying that the wording is slightly off on them and not up to date. Hopefully this helps anyone else struggling getting them connected via a reasonable new android mobile device. Xmas tree lights now go on and off on timer through the Alexa app so can’t complain too much.
I had turned off all my 2.4GHz wifi networks and up until buying this, exclusively used 5GHz wifi networks. Even when I enabled 2.4G with my existing wifi name, they still wouldn’t connect. I’ve ended up setting up a dedicated 2.4G network just for my IoT devices, not idea. This is why I have removed 1 star from the review. To be fair, this is declared upfront, but the fact it can’t co-exist on a dual 2.4G/5G network surprised me (considering others like the TPLINK do co-exist on those shared networks). That said, not they are all setup, they are much more reliable than the more expensive TPLINK ones I had before. They NEVER lose their connection and ALWAYS respond to Alexa’s command. A good choice.
I purchased a two pack on three occasions since December 2019. Five had to be set up manually after multiple attempts to use the automated system. The last one set up easily. One has gone faulty failing to turn of by Alexa or manually pushing the plug’s button. Amazon quickly arranged a refund once I return the goods postage free.
I have already purchased another two pack as I know other brands can be just as difficult to set up and are no more reliable than this brand which I am generally happy with.
I’m using Google Home as opposed to Alexa which seems to get more information posted.
It took me some time to connect up but got there in the end. I’m with Virgin Media and I already had a guest wifi account created for my children to use (easily control their usage) which is set to 2g as opposed to 5g which the plugs will not operate on. So that was my first hurdle dealt with.
Then I had to use the second option where the light flashes slowly and hey presto, they connected. I used the Smart Life app to initially connect and then added them onto my Google Home. Both apps can be used, I prefer to use Google Home but the Smart Life has more options for timing etc.
Once they’re up and running they’re great. I’ve spent far too long asking Google to turn things on and off today for fun
The one thing I’m not too keen on is the permissions granted for the Smart life app and having to give so much personal information, inc address.
You will obviously also need to leave on the power to the appliance and let the smart plug take over.
