This is a great tuner & is fully featured supporting multiple instruments as well as mic mode. You should be aware that the joint between the clip & tuner will eventually break (although to be fair it lasted a few years). Since I mainly use this for guitar, I replaced with a SN-5GX which has an extra collar around the part which broke. Also, if you leave it clipped on the headstock all the time it will start to leave a mark.

4.0 out of 5 stars Freat tuner but could be more robus

Get one and make life easy. I hate tuning my guitar when the drummer is banging away and the bass decides it’s not loud enough as conventional tuners just cant cope. This tuner takes vibrations from your guitar and not the drummer and every other member of your band making it frustrating to tune in. Happy camper here.

Can tune even in a noisy environment, just switch it on, it is chromatic so tell you what it hears so great for alternative tunings. Only gripe is the clip isn’t great on the sloped shaped headstock of my ovation, there isn’t much there on the edge to grip. That’s the guitar not the tuner. But so far it is staying o

Nothing more important than keeping your instrument tuned correctly and this product is ideal for that purpose. Simple to attach to guitar, banjo, ukulele etc tuning to pitch via mic or vibration. The tuner offers an unambiguous and precise tuning guide, just follow the graphic to the prescribed level for each string and your instrument will be precisely tuned. Great product.

I have had one of these tuners before. It was a slightly dearer model and gave indication as pitch was being approached this red model seems to lack this feature.

Brought this a fair way back and can report that it’s lasted well . I have other Tuners and some times check against each other for accuracy and this is still bang on. Batteries last well .

I have purchased previous models/versions to this. This version is much quicker at recognising changes in string tuning. For example, less time to wait when just tuning an E String and moving to tune an A string etc. Further model appears to be less fiddly when switching on and off. Yes a good upgrade.

This little tuner is very accurate (checked against built in tuner on one guitar and phone based sound tuner) and easy to use / read.
Be aware if you have a Gibson, or a guitar with a Nitrocellulose lacquer, Snark do not recommend clipping the tuner to the headstock as it can leave dents. With the ST2 I have you can clip to your mic or music stand and use the microphone tuning rather than vibration tuning.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis product is great for someone who is just getting into playing an instrument at 61! I do not have a musical ear and find this so easy to tune my banjo accurately and it has a colourful readout which is easy to see. The clip is secure and does not damage your instrument. It has a decent battery life and uses the common CR2032 button cell. There is a useful auto shut-off mode and tuning frequency can be altered to suit many other instruments. The clip on the swivel joint looks a bit fragile and many users have reported breakages but I have found no issues. I would highly recommend this simple tuner to anyone.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAnyone considering purchasing the SN-5X model should be aware that the description is wrong on two counts.
First, it states that the tuner takes a Varta CR2 / CR 15H270 3V Lithium Battery.
    It doesn’t.
It takes a common CR2032 coin battery.
Second, it states that the tuner has a metronome.
    It doesn’t.
The lack of metronome is not an issue for me, but I’m sure it will be for some potential purchasers.
It’s pretty poor that the metronome is displayed in images on Amazon while it is absent on the actual tuners.
As a simple tuner, I’m delighted with it. It does the job.
But it’s worth being aware that the description is inaccurate and misleading.

Great tuner and number 1 tuner for a reason.

Not like some of the other cheaper ones that are clip-on this one has some differences.

Firstly not only can it work on vibration to tune it also has, and this is the major difference between it and the cheaper ones, a microphone built in! This is what that extra 2 or 3 pound gets and that’s why it is vastly superior in my opinion.

From opening you can see and feel it is very well made and the clip is very soft and will not damage your instrument.

The actual round display size is a little larger then a 2 pound coin so it’s not in the way.

Another point is it has a metronome built in! (Visual, flashing one that is speed adjustable).

Display is clear and can tune many instruments. Great for custom tunings on your guitar also.

Great product and I got the St-2 for the price of 12 pounds instead of 15! Really happy with it.

Push the boat out and spend an extra 2 or 3 quid and get this little beauty. Comes with a nice little bag also. You’ll be happy you did!!

I was recommended this model to allow for different tuning on an electric guitar.

Out of the box and for standard tuning, it’s a great bit of kit. Easy to get it on and the display is really clear, day and night. From an accuracy point of view, it is the best I have used to date. There is a warning inside, and in other reviews here, about damage to the coating of guitar if the unit is left on all the time. For me, there is an easy solution to that.

I haven’t given it 5 stars due to the flexibility of tuning. The whole reason I was looking for a digital tuner was to allow different tuning, dropped D or half down etc. While the tuner will do this for you, it reads the tuning as a htz value so you need to know these for the tuning you want rather than like other tuners where you select the alternative and tune the guitar.

All in all, a really good product.

I found this tuner accurate and easy to use. However after 1 year it broke, one of the 3 plastic prongs on the socket on the tuner (where the ball of the mounting clip plugs in) broke off. At first I couldn’t see how this had happened as I’d always used it carefully but looking at it closely I could see that it had been broken before and fixed back. There is clear evidence of what looks like superglue. The repair would have been virtually impossible to see as the break it very clean. I suspect this is a returned item possibly broken and returned as faulty by someone else and repaired. Either way it was not new as advertised. I guess a consequences of buying from Amazon and why I no longer do so.
