Very easy to play – pick a card from the easy/medium or hard pile (not sure the ratings are very accurate!) and make the noise of one of the two things listed on the card. Sounds easy……but making the actual sound of fire, butchers, croquet, scuba diving….etc without hand gestures or words is actually hilariously tricky! All sorts of random grunts will ensue as the evening progresses and the drinks flow! Didn’t bother with the scoring system other than the correct guesser kept the card and a vague comparison of pile sizes happened at some point. Very portable, slightly larger than a standard pack of cards. Playable for any age.
Party games night…scrabble, quizzes etc…then I brought this out…to rather wry looks from the ladies…well…best night ever…we just ended up in hysterics… so simple but a real blast… go for it!
What a great game……in theory…lol!! What it does reveal is, unless you are extremely gifted in the ability to make the strangest sounds/noises…..this is almost impossible to do!! But the results are hilarious! We thoroughly enjoyed trying to create the really random noises……without cheating!!
Extremely simple game for all the family to play, no need for lots of space or set up time. Ideal stocking filler/small gift. Plenty of cards each with two sounds options so it will take many, many plays to get through them all. Worth the price and comes in a small packaging perfect to carry around.
We had lots of fun playing this after Christmas. There is a good mixture of easy cards for the younger ones and harder ones for the adults. Lots of laughs.
Bought this as a stocking filler and played with a small group on Christmas Day. It was a really simple concept: pick a card, make the sound so that people could guess what was written on it. Definitely challenging on some!
Bought this to play over Xmas. Very simple concept but harder than it sounds. For example, if the word on your card is “pig” you can’t describe it by saying the words “oink oink”. You have to try and make actual pig sounds. The rules actually say you should sit on your hands to avoid the temptation to use gestures. My poor Mum just couldn’t grasp the concept and took the no words allowed rule to literally mean that she wasn’t allowed to open her mouth and resorted to ventriloquism! We absolutely love this game. Also, like the fact that it’s pocket-sized, so can be taken anywhere. Definitely recommend this.
The box is way smaller than I thought based on the product pictures.
It’s quite a fun game, played with a group of 8. The difficulty categories seem very subjective my group found many of the hard ones easier than medium prompts.
Also given that there aren’t that many cards in total for each difficulty I feel they could have made them double sided or had 3-4 prompts on to keep the game from getting as repetitive.
It’s a fun game and there were a few laughs. Good stocking filler if you can get it for under 10
I have three autistic children who all absolutely love this game! Great game for communication difficulties and something everyone can play ( although everyone needs to be able to read or be able to partner up with someone who can read). Lots of fun and lots of laughter- it’s a great travel game although possibly not one for waiting in busy areas like restaurants for meals because it can get quite loud
We (three adults) played this and had good fun. It’s easy to learn and suitable for a wide range of ages. I like the company’s back story and business model. A bit pricey, but a proportion of the profits go to charity. Also, it’s produced in an environmentally responsible way. As it’s quite small and compact, it’s a good travel game.
Fun game for all the family children and adults.. difficult to do some of the sounds which makes it hilarious as players want to use their facial expressions and body movements which.. are not allowed in the rules haha, so funny to tell your brain that! Highly recommend this game!
Really funny game, my only critisism is that once you have played it a few times, you get to know every word on each card and so its too easy to guess it. We used it over christmas but havent played it since
Great fun, we had such a laugh. On the down side we didn’t know that one person in our group would test positive for covid the next day. When that person is trying to make the sound of air brakes when we’re all sat around a table you can understand why 3 days later we were all positive! Definitely buy it though. The sound in your head doesn’t seem to be the sound that comes out of your mouth! So funny
Ordered this game for the festive period. It arrived quickly, was packaged well and was exactly what it says on the tin. I was easy to learn, and gave my entire family a lot of laughs. It is hard not being able to use your hands, so when we used the “hard” cards we allowed some hand gestures. A little expensive to say it is just words on cards, but is packaged well for safe keeping which can be brought out again and again for family fun. Would recommend.
Played round the table at Xmas. Ignored the point system. We may try that next time. Found the easy ones ridiculously easy like cat, dog etc and some of the hard ones impossible! But hilarious. We had a lot of ‘well that sounded better in my head’
To help the kids with guessing we allowed a couple of hints like ‘is it an animal?’
It’s really hard to try and not move your body! Obv we like charades
A small box for the price but we will play it each year and after lockdowns at friends houses. Can play it often enough to not be repetitive.
Bought this game last Christmas to take to family for after Christmas dinner. To say it is hilarious is an understatement.
The aim of the game is to read the item on the card and then make the noise of that item without speaking. Others than have to guess what the item is.
The cards are split into difficulties ranging from something easy like a train or a car to hard such as a hospital (as a whole not one thing in a hospital).
Some cards you read and think that is easy such as lion, then you growl and your opponents list every animal that growls but no-one gets lion, so it can be frustrating too. Others you look at the card and think ‘does that even make a sound’.
We have played it a few times since Christmas but we realised it is better played with a big group of people not just the four of us playing. One for family parties.
Having a family half made up card/board game lovers and half haters, Gamely’s games always manage to bring us together and find something for everyone! We now have Randomise, The Pretender, Jibbergiggle and now Soundiculous and I can highly recommend all of them! We have also played Frozen Unicorn with a friend and can also say that it may seem like it’s marketed towards children but not to be fooled as it is tonnes of fun whatever your age!
Soundiculous will have you all chuckling and snorting – and that’s alongside all the ridiculous noises you will be making whilst playing the game! In a sort of charades only with sound, you will make noises you never knew you could make, all in an effort to describe something you have never tried to imitate before, but that is all part of the fun! With easy to hard ones to choose each time, you will soon discover those members of the family that want to test themselves and those that like to take it easy.
We all know there are literally thousands of card games and board games out there, but Soundiculous is something different. It kind of feels like you’re playing a big family board game, yet the whole thing takes up about the same space as a mobile phone. This makes it great for taking round to friends homes for a night in (with or without alcohol), family get-togethers after a barbecue, or taking with you on self-catering holidays with family and/or friends. It’s blissfully easy to set up and understand. You’re up and playing in no time at all, and it’s far more hilarious than I could even try to explain from the very first sound to the very last card. We never realised how competitive Auntie Joan was until we invited her to play Soundiculous! All I would say, is when you do play it, forget any ideas you might have about maintaining any dignity and decorum, or maintaining a straight face. It just ain’t gonna happen! Well done to the young creators of this game. Worth every one of its Five Stars.
I played this with hubby and two friends for a New Years eve warm up. I totally kicked a** but even if I didn’t I would still give it five stars. Its surprisingly difficult (for most people it seems) and definitely amusing. The small box wasn’t a problem for me (some reviewers saw it as a negative) as it is a card game and I’d rather people didn’t waste resources unnecessarily. I think we played for an hour and a half or so till all the cards ran out without getting board. Only downfall is I wouldn’t want to play it more than once as it would be way too easy for me to win the second time round. Remembering the cards from previous games would be an unfair advantage. I’m going to give it away to a friend rather than hold on to it as I know plenty of people who would enjoy it and then also pass it on. Children and patient parents may be happy to play it more than once though I’d expect.
The concept of this game is very simple; describe what’s on the card using only sounds, no hands, no words, just sounds.
All the family had a good laugh at each other stuggling the the more difficult cards and all ages can easily get involved.
My only gripe would be that if you have a house full and you play for any length of time, you will soon work through the majority of the cards. Unless you check the dimensions im the description you will likely be suprised how small the very well made box actually is.
However for the price, it still offers hours of fun and should allow replay value if returned to after a while in the cupboard.
Ok, firstly – this game is excellent – more on this in a minute.
Quick question though – who do I talk to about my wife’s strange understanding of animal calls? The card she picked had moose on it, and the sound she came out with was just… Ok, let me put it this way: I don’t claim to know what a moose sounds like, but I know what it DOESN’T sound like, and that’s a 93 year old man shouting as if he’s just stubbed his toe. I never knew such a sound could come from such a beautiful lady – we’ve been together over 7 years and I’m still learning new things about her. It shook me to my core.
Anyway – as I said, this is a really fun game. It took literally a minute to learn and then we just jumped straight in and were in fits of laughter within seconds. It’s family friendly and the difficulty levels are well measured – some of them are REALLY hard and that makes it all the more satisfying when the other person guesses it correctly! You’d be missing out if you didn’t add this game to your arsenal!
P.S. I just looked it up. She was right about the moose.
