Smaller then I was expecting but extremely useful. I bought theres for tease out weeds from between rockery plants and they do the job well. They wouldn’t be much use for larger jobs but for working with containers or hanging baskets they should be adequate! Great for working between close growing plants.

Bit smaller than I thought but that’s my fault for not looking at the measurements.

Great for my inside garden, excellent quality.

In my opinion not suitable in a back or front garden, at least not for me

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis mini-garden tools set is the thing I never knew I needed! Smaller than usual hand-gardening tools, they’re perfect for my mum, who is smaller than usual women. She finds them best for her indoor pot plants and the size makes them easy to handle and manoeuvre, and also allows a much greater degree of precision, which is important with her smaller and sometimes more fragile plant. There’s a little spade, a three-pronged trowel, and a very narrow spade (which probably has a special name, but I don’t know it!), and they have a rubber-coated handle which provides good grip a well as the cheerful splash of red.

I got this for my housemate who is mad about her indoor plants, and she finds it so useful!

It is well made, sturdy, and looks really rustic too. Ideal for use with small plant pots!

For years, I’ve tried to a use normal sized trowel and fork when planting stuff in pots, with varying degrees of success, and usually end up making quite mess too, as they are quite clumsy for small jobs, These are just great for tiny planting projects; they make it so much easier to work with small pots and tiny plants. They are really nicely made, and tough enough to last a very long time. Very happy with these.

These three garden hand tools are really well made and the product image gives a good representation of them. With hard plastic handles and mirror polished metal parts, they’re built to last. My girlfriends main use for these is with seed trays and pots in her greenhouse and transferring and bedding the crops from the greenhouse onto her allotment. These are ideal for the job, with the engraved depth gauges on the trowels being particularly useful. Sizes: Trowels 22cm; Cultivator 19cm.

These are really well made combining sturdy but comfortable handles with really good quality tools. I knew they were classed as mini but are actually a little smaller than I was expecting. Yes, they can be used as patio tools for container-grown plants, and this is how my elderly mother uses them. They are small and light for her to handle easily. I could also see these as being ideal for young children.

I love it when brands come out with products that you never really knew that you were missing in your life.

These are dinky, they are super cute though and are just the right size for potting. They are also really great for children as they are small enough for them to help in the garden.

All of the tools are sturdy and well made, the handles are comfortable but i would of preferred holes in the handles to thread cord through to hang them up on hooks.

Perfect for the greenhouse or potting shed. I needed to report several houseplants and these tools were a great size for the job. The little rake improved the surface of the larger pots that just needed top-dressing.

This is a very well known brand and I’m pleased to find that these tools are of the expected high quality.

Packaged together, this would be a practical gift for green fingered friends.

These really are miniature versions of regular garden tools but that means you can use them indoors in pots and tubs, window boxes, or outdoors in parts of the garden that need delicate grooming. I like the measurements on both trowels so you can see at a glance how deep you’re digging when planting seeds and seedlings. One has a serrated edge that should also prove useful. The other tool is a mini rake. The tools look good and well made (they don’t need to be very tough really) as you’d expect from a respected brand. There doesn’t seem to be any skimping on materials because of the size.

This set consists of 3 items, a hand trowel, a transplanting trowel (a slightly larger trowel with a serrated edge on one side) and a 3 prong cultivator (like a mini rake).

It must be noted that these are all a little smaller than the normal versions as they are designed for indoor and small gardens, but they are really good quality. The metal is all stainless steel and the handles are rubberised and nicely shaped. It also feels like the steel goes well inside the handle so I don’t foresee these breaking (they have a 10 year guarantee).

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat quality items.

They look and feel well made.

Quite small, so their use is rather specific.

Great to keep in the shed and small enough to be used for internal boxes and pots.

Really well-made and well-constructed set of mini tools. Spear & Jackson normally make good-quality things, and this set is no exception. Although the tools are most definitely mini (much smaller than a ‘normal-sized’ trowel, etc), they are great for small plant-pots and the like, where there just isn’t the room to use anything bigger. The set come with a ten-year guarantee, and I can see why; they are so well-made that they look as if they will last approximately forever. Five stars.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis set of tools are quite small (please see my photo with 50p coin for scale) and thus are designed for working in flower boxes and similar confined containers.

I selected them however for my mother who is now 91 and still likes to do some gardening but is not in the best of health.

These scaled down tools work pretty well for her and allow her to continue gardening which helps keep her spirits up.

They of course would also suit a child while the adult gets to use his or her full size versions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Indoor Plants Or The Elderly

These are the quality that you would expect of Spear and Jackson. The metal work is very strong almost to the point of over engineering. I have seen flimsier structure on full sized tools, these are practically indestructible. Grips are very comfortable. Size wise, they are perfect for pots, troughs and seeding trays.

You sometimes just need smaller tools than usual to work with delicate new plants. The smaller trowel will easily fit into the modules of even the smallest planting trays. This means that you can transplant without damaging the roots or the delicate stems of newer members of your garden.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSpear and Jackson make great garden products, and this set of three mini tools in no exception. A set of three tools for planting and raking this is particularly suitable for container pots and window boxes.

I have very small hands and struggle with the full size tools as I find them hard to grip, this set is perfect for me. I have a courtyard at the side of my garden which is natural, stone and I have several pots which I like to keep planted all year and these tools will assist me so much in the planting of my young plants. These will also be suitable for young children who love the garden as the toy ones are pretty but hopeless Ito use.

My dad always used Spear and Jackson when he was gardening as he believed they were they made the best garden tools, so I feel a little bit nostalgic using these and I am really happy with them.

My daughter is 7 so wants to help in the garden. Kids tools are basically toys and pretty useless. Normal tools are too heavy. These are great, they are about 1/2 the size of an adult tool, so really string and long lasting. My daughter finds them very easy to use. If my gran was still doing her veggy patch, these would be ideal for her too as her swollen joints were too painful to use normal adult tools.

My wife is quite petite, and this 3 piece tool kit from Spear and Jackson are perfect for her … would also suit children, and perhaps even older gardeners who will appreciate how light they are.

They seem to be as well made as my full-sized set, and come with a comprehensive 10 year warranty.

    What’s not to like!

A brand that needs little introduction from whom this “Spear & Jackson MINI3PS Select Stainless 3 Piece Mini Tools Set, multicoloured, 29.5x15x3.5 cm” is one of many of its type that are intended for use with potted and container plants and shrubs.

It comprises a narrow hand trowel, a transplanting tool one edge of which is saw-toothed but not for effective sawing and a cultivator/fork. Both trowels have a depth or spacing gauge measuring to 2-inches (5cm) from the tip. They all feature stainless steel fitments that are mirror-coated to help resist soil adhesion. The handles are bi-material with the upper grip portions in PU or similar semi-soft plastic and featuring multi-coloured toning from a deep maroon-red to black.

They are quite strongly made but were challenged by some of our pots that were less often and less thoroughly watered during the very high summer temperatures of 2018 and are not currently retaining much moisture. The compost within is almost brick-hard and not easy to work but these just manage. With fresh compost used in any new plantings (none currently exist) they should be a doddle to use. The handles are fairly short, manageable with smaller pots and containers but may present an issue with wide tubs that are almost fully planted.

This set is inexpensive and uncomplicated by useless additions. There are some sets that comprise several tools, are less expensive but, having been gifted such a set, after one or two uses they had bent and become useless; some may have been tin-plate. With Spear & Jackson you know the quality to expect and you will get it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is the perfect little set for transporting baby plants into little pots. It seems sturdy and well made. This will be perfect in the greenhouse when the cuttings come through. As it is small it would be ideal for children to. I have pictured it next to a dessert spoon to give an idea of its size. It is smaller than the average fork and trowel sets.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great little set.
