Works ok – once you get it on and gripped
Usual gripe – they put oil filters in awkward spots that involves wobble sockets and lots of extensions- handy it comes with 3/8 adapte
The spec states this wrench works with 64-116mm diameter filters. Mine is a 14 flute 65mm diameter filter but this tool slips. It might work if I applied constant pressure to the arms with a strong elastic band and raised the tool off the filter with packing but I don’t want to mess about. I need a simple tool because I need to use it over water (for an outboard engine, after having vacuumed old oil through the dipstick). I returned the tool and will 3D print an alternative from Thingiverse.
This product SAVED MY DAY. Absolutes worth every penny. As DIY mechanics might know, triumph oil filters are often over-tightened at the dealership. Mine was no different, I tried the screwdriver stabbing method but that didn’t work either. Nothin worked — until I got this beast! My filter didn’t know what hit it hahaha xD
Needed this to change the filter on my motorbike, access was difficult due to exhaust position but this made it easy to reach. A little fiddly first time to get the technique right for it to grip but once you know it’s easy.
Also used it with a little bit of padding to tighten….take care though if you do this not to overtighten, and crush the new filter, but if the filter is hard to reach making it difficult to get a grip on, this works really well
There wasn’t much room around the filter of my Yamaha XJ600N, which was why I ordered the tool in the first place, but it successfully removed the rusty old cartridge,
which looked as if it’d been on there, the target of spray, road much and rock salt since 2003, when the bike was new.
Used to take off a filter on a Corsa C. Did the job and certainly better than straps/ chains I have used un the past. Still fiddlier than using a solid cap so gave it 4 star.
I have an Astra k 1.4 Sri nav and the Oil filter is recessed into the engine block. No way to get your hand around it. This was able to get it off with ease but it did scrape against the engine block.
The 3 jaw tool easily removed a BMW 318i E91 oil filter and reinstalled the filter cap to the correct torque without any effort on my part. Great piece of kit for the toolbox. Recommended.
I know there are other ways of removing a stubborn oil filter, but they can be risky. This is a sturdy tool, and does the job safely and quickly. Recommended.
I broke a chain wrench and a clamp trying to remove a “firmly attached” filter (God knows what they tightend it with). This was the only thing that got it off.
Badly seized oil filter on an old Landcruiser that I just bought. Tried everything on it. Filter was so tight my strap-wrench snapped. This shifted it first go. Careful placement and a 45 cm breaker bar. The legs really bit into the filter and didn’t let go. Wish I’d had it two days ago. If I could give it 6 stars I would.
