Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDoes the job I need it for. I don’t really need two, but I suppose it’s always good to have a back up. The blade has been nice and sharp and has made peeling potatoes a doddle. I have had no issues.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy husband works as a chef and chose this peeler to be part of his tool set. He liked it a lot because it’s good quality, easy to use, comfortable to hold, peels well and is really worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works really well

I thought no peeler could replace my old one this new one has such sharp blades and it just slices off the skin without taking too much of the veg/fruit which is exactly what I wanted.
    I would recommend this item

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThere are 2 peelers in the package, I have trouble holding this traditional design due to arthritis in my fingers but find these comfortable to hold and sharp and efficient to use. That is after I removed the protective film from the blade, almost impossible to see and I wondered why they were so dull when in fact it was me being dull.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis item arrived nicely packaged in plastic bags. I got two peelers – green and black. I needed a quick replacements for the ones i have so picked these. From the price and the look in the picture, I thought they wouldn’t last long but they are actually rather good. They are easy to hold, easy to use and does a good job. Love the price

These vegetable peelers seem quite good, especially when peeling straighter vegetables like carrots and parsnips but I don’t find them as easy peeling rounder vegetables such as potatoes. I suppose I’ll adapt to it. Its a different style than the peeler I’ve been using for years (now broken). For the low price they seem well made and should last.

There are 2 peelers in a pack, so it’s good value for money.
The peeler itself is easy to use, the handle is ergonomically well designed.
The actual blade for the peeler is fine, it’s not as sharp as my previous one but is still effective, hence four stars.

I have just tested this on a carrot – great, thin straight peelings and a nice sharp finish. And on an apple – much less good at working round a curve, kept getting clogged, but great when I moved to downward strokes and a series of short straight peelings.

This is not like a standard potato peeler when you work round the curve with your thumb. It is more about slicing off the top surface in straight lines. May be good to buy two at a time as they will perform less well when blunted.

I’ve never used a peeler before as have been trained from young how to skillfully peel with a knife, so have never felt the need for this.
Well I was in for a pleasant surprise when I gave this a bash, straight away the peeler hugged the potato and smoothly stripped it down. The whole job was over in less than a minute. The blade was sharp and angled to move seamlessly over the potato and remove the layer of skin.
What I was impressed with was that the potato still retained its roundish shape, where a knife peel would have squarely sliced the skin. I’m now looking forward to trying other fruit n veg.
    Its a yes from me!!

A set of 2 plastic handled vegetable peelers with very sharp metal blades. They are light weight with smooth hard plastic handles which feel comfortable with its curved shape. The blades can be angled but, are a little stiff to begin with. They will peel with either a push or pull action and makes smooth even shavings – not too thick. I like that the smooth plastic means no food will lodge on it and it can be simply washed in the sink.

I’ve been using Y-Shape Peeler Slicer and have been very pleased with its performance and quality. First off all the design is sleek and simple. I can say it is quite easy to peel and slice a variety of fruits and vegetables. The peeler is quite sharp the blades and they can effortlessly glide through the skin of any fruit.
    Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp, good material and easy to use.

The Y-Shape Peeler Slicer is a fantastic kitchen tool that has made my food preparation a breeze. This vegetable and fruit peeler slicer is designed with a Y-shaped blade that makes it easy to peel and slice fruits and vegetables quickly and efficiently.

One of the standout features of this peeler slicer is its ergonomic design. The Y-shaped handle is comfortable to grip and allows for a firm and stable hold, reducing the risk of hand fatigue during extended use. The blade is also made of high-quality stainless steel, ensuring durability and long-lasting sharpness.

I have found that the Y-Shape Peeler Slicer is perfect for a wide range of fruits and vegetables, including potatoes, carrots, apples, cucumbers, and more. The sharp blade makes it easy to peel off thin layers of skin or create precise slices, which is great for presentation purposes.

The peeler slicer is also very easy to clean, as it is dishwasher safe and can be quickly and easily rinsed under running water. The blade is designed to stay sharp even after repeated use and is resistant to rust and corrosion.

Overall, I highly recommend the Y-Shape Peeler Slicer to anyone looking for a high-quality, versatile kitchen tool. Its ergonomic design, sharp blade, and ease of use make it an indispensable addition to any home cook’s collection.

With 2 costing 4.59 at the time of review, they’re not too expensive – but I still might have expected a little better quality. The plastic feels like it could break with too much force applied.

They will better suit lighter vegetables I feel – for peeling potatoes etc they’re fine. But if you want something really robust I would struggle to recommend these.

Still quite decent for their price though.
    Four stars.

In this package you get two parers. They’re small and lightweight but very sharp. The make light of carrots and potatoes.

I’m really not sure how durable they are long term but they’re a pretty good budget utensil that do the job.

    Starchef Y-Shape Peeler

You will spend a long time over a lifetime peeling veg’ – so paying for a good peeler is a worthwhile investment. The minimum is a rocking blade so that it keeps in contact with the surface without having to keep twisting your wrist.

I tested this head to head against 2 other designs – another Y-Shaped one from a high street kitchens’ shop and a classic Swedish all-steel “straight” design.

    I found
these “StarChef” brands ones are very sharp and peel well
If you are used to the straight line peeler – then these Y-shaped ones take some getting used to. But – they are lightweight and actually are easy to grip. I was expecting a problem because the handle is smooth – but in practice I didn’t loose hold.
these are good value – you get 2 in a pack – so about @2.25 each
they have a “shallow” peel – this is good for smooth surfaced veg but…

…means you may need to peel “bumpy veg” twice to get the skin away.
…and for some reason perform the poorest of the three different peeler types on potatos today. There were areas that needed two swipes rather than one with the other designs.

I like these – for long-shaped veg such as parsnip and carrots they are much faster than the Swedish / straight design; for potatoes they don’t quite match the speed – but get the job done.

My solution is to use these where they work best – the long veg – and keep my straight Swedish design for potatos.

I would get these again – only unknown is durability. One hint is never wash blades in a dishwasher machine as it blunts them very quickly. I will update this if they blunt in less than a year.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very sharp and lightweight peelers - and good value at £2.25 each

Great little kitchen tool, inexpensive and very sharp.

Potatoes and carrots peeled in less time than it takes to complete this review. I’m including thinking time here as well. So yes, every kitchen drawer should have one (or even two of these).

A kitchen staple and to be recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have used a similar product for many years and it still works perfectly so I bought this for my sister as it was the nearest in appearance to my original. I had bought a similar one from Tesco and that was originally useless but with a bit of modification it did eventually work quite well.
This one originally seemed quite good on carrots but on round items it just could not cope with the curves and it took off much thicker slices of peel although that was not a serious problem and may be beneficial on thick skinned items like Swede. The main problem was that there is a stop which limits the way it can cope with curves so I used a Stanley knife to trim it off an it now works as well as my original albeit taking rather more off than I should like. The modification made a tremendous improvement on the way it works and I cannot understand why it was designed like that because there are no safety issues and in fact it was more dangerous because of the difficulty in trying to make it work in its original condition. It only took about 15 seconds to trim off a totally unnecesary piece of plastic.
