Watching seasons 1&2 for the very first time, I can appreciate what all the fuss has been about. A really lavish production with great attention to historical detail. The cast and acting are top class. The direction, led by the amazing Stephen Daldry, is superb. I also enjoyed the magnificent opening theme music which builds the emotions towards the drama which follows.

I was surprised by how easily hooked I was. I know that it is not 100% accurate. What historical drama is? But it is still very well done and hugely enjoyable.

I liked what we have already managed to watch and looking forward to the rest. BUT
I did not realise that I bought and paid for 2 complete 8 Disc sets of The Crown I thought I had bought one package containing series 1 and a second containing series 2 .
My mistake and I suppose I have to live with it,
I could have bought The Crown series 4 with the extra money I would have saved. SORRY TO BE MOANING BUT FOUND YOUR ADVERTISING VERY CONFUSING

These two seasons of The Crown are Tv/film production at its best – superb casting and acting, brilliant scriptwriting and camera work, and excellent accurate period details and background music. Everyone who worked on this did a fantastic job. It is the sort of totally class drama series that began in earnest with such as Band of Brothers, although the 1980s’ North and South was also superbly done. Even if you’re not particularly a fan of the monarchy, The Crown is so well done that it’s just engrossing viewing period.

Ideal for fans of this series. Wife has watched it loads of times even though we have netflix! Not everybody has netflix so its a good present for those who don’t.

I thoroughly enjoyed the two series, and could remember all the events which are portrayed. In this case I bought it for my daughter who doesn’t know the history of those early years.

I bought this having heard great reviews from friends who were watching The Crown on Netflix which I don’t use.

I was certainly not disappointed. A great series which is based on fact but to the purists I am sure there will be many fictional parts or stories embellished. Its still great TV.

An absolutely outstanding series with a great set of actors and actresses. Showing from her early life, H.M. Queen Elizabeth 2 through various stages of her life to very near present times. From the very first episode, you will be transfixed, is this real, did it happen? Then you will play the next episode and you’ve got the bug, hook, line and sinker, so to say.

Loved each episode. Fascinating historical information as well as developing all the characters in the Royal family in interesting ways. Need to bear in mind the series is dramatised so not all conversations are necessarily true but created to link real historical events. Very good.

I liked the fact that , for a change , the content is not ruined by constant intrusive and often in congruent music. All the family thought the series very well made , although Prince Philip was hopelessly miscast.

Brilliant- we always assume the Queen has a privileged life, but the dvds make you realise she’s had to endure many instances of public humiliation. Which must have taken great human resilience to overcome.
Very interesting historical accounts of the events of the 20th century.

engrossing and absorbing. We all know the high and low lights of this families life, but this gives some excellent background info. And yes, I know its mainly fiction, but it feels very close to the truth.

I absolutely love this DVD. I bought series one and two. I have learned things about the royal family history which I was unaware of in parts. I have watched almost five chapters so far, I just don’t want it to end as I am an avid follower of our Royal family history.

A very enjoyable series and does a creditable job of explaining the events from the1930-1964 of the Royal family and the government. It may not be accurate history but it is near enough. It does show the Queen growing and maturing into her role as monarch

So worth watching, couldn’t wait for the next episode. Plus, you never know from what angle the story line will be portrayed. Very entertaining and thought provoking. The day to day life of a monarch is not to be envied.

Having seen all three seasons and enjoyed them, I bought the first two as a Christmas gift for someone (3rd season as yet unavailable). However it was a fluke that I received the box set as, although the address was printed clearly on the package it was delivered to the wrong address! It was only retrieved through some dogged detective work.

Great show, I watched it on Netflix a while ago and bough this box set as a gift for my mum and she loved it too. The acting and storyline are brilliant and it’s interesting to see a more personal side of the royal family, even if it is dramatised.

first saw this on netflix`s i did not think it would be my kind of thing but there was so much buzz about it i thought i would give it ago and enjoyed it so much i purchest the dvd as a christmas gift for my aunt its a must watch.

This was indeed a very good series with a good storyline throughout. The acting was exceptional with special emphasis on those who played the Queen, Lascelles, & Churchill. Several scenes were I thought, too over-bearing and played out but otherwise it would be a series that I would certainly watch again & recommend.

If this is a true reflection on the history of the British monarchy, how were we not taken over by Nazis and other idiots. For me, the only one who came out of this, with any credibility, was the Queen. No doubt the production was enhanced to add drama to events, but how much of it is accurate? I guess we will never know.
