Does exactly as described is nice and shallow so fits under vehicles on axle stands, used to drain two cars oil which allowed me to pour the oil into a suitable container
Quick rinse and stored ready for next time
Only real improvement id recommend is a filter to stop most the gunk if you are planning on pouring into something like an oil burne
I used a different container to this one for my 535d BMW with a 6.5L capacity and as it became completely full there was some spillage. I used this drain pan on another car and it swallowed the 8L of old oil (it has a 16L capacity)-making me glad I had not tried my old container! The open top aspect of this pan makes catching the oil running out much easier than a pan with an enclosed cover and a sucken drain hole. Good value for money..
A decent fluid drain pan that’s reasonably well made of polyethylene,
It’s easy to use and a handy item to have, it works really well and does exactly what it’s supposed to do
It appears to be quite robust and durable, reasonably priced and worth trying
Im really pleased with this oil changing pan. Its got a huge capacity at 16 litres, its roughly the size of a spare wheel well.
Slide it under the car, remove the Sump plug and let the used engine oil drain out.
After replacing the engine oil, you can pour the used oil into your now empty oil bottle, and dispose of it responsibly.
I clean mine out after use using kitchen roll. Makes self servicing oil changes a doddle with no mess on the drive.
The best thing about this oil drainer is the fact that its got an open top ( some of them have a top with a hole ) so you can see it filling up.
Its also really easy to drain and pour out, you literally just tip it as it has a spout, like a tea pot, so dont fill it too high to begin with.
The plastic is of good quality, it doesn’t flex at all.
Its of a good size, as you can see from the pics, we used it to drain oil from a vehicle which carries 6.5 litres of oil, and the drainer was about half full..
So this is such a handy little design.
I’d recommend this 100% definitely!
Husband is a retired mechanic, he’s impressed with this as it’s large and sturdy enough to do all the jobs it needs to do. Fits under the car, is rigid when full, and the spout works well for safe disposal.
This is a much better drain tray than most with the above average capacity , you can drain 95% car and light commercial engines completely without fear of over flow plus no worries about sloshing over the edge when moving it abou
The highlights of this product are as follows.
1, it is not too deep making it easy to get underneath the car.
2, it is rock solid so does not flex when full.
3, it is temperature resistant withstanding hot oil.
4, it has a pouring spout so less messy when trying to dispose of.
5, it holds a lot, so ideal for bigger engine vehicles.
6, it wipes clean.
7, it at a price point that is good value or you would expect to pay for this product.
Always seen this sort of container in professional garages and now I can see why as it’s so versatile. This Tools House brand 16 litres capacity liquid drain pan is made from a strong or thick type of plastic and suggests its going to be hardwearing – or Plan B: one can hope this will be the case! I have just used it to drain the car radiator system as I am renewing a water pump but the joy of this is its wide enough to catch all the water plus the lip on it means as you drag it out from under the car, it does not spill or slosh over the sides and go everywhere – much like when I used an old washing up bowl the last time I did such an act. The handle and pouring out spout is a neat idea too as you can control the flow of any substance you wish to pour out. Overall a nice, useful item that will come in use again quite soon as I will be doing an oil change/service on the said car (either that or have to go shopping..) as this will hopefully save all the oil going everywhere if the last time or unplanned event was anything to go by. In my defence I told The Lady of the House it will fade in time from the concrete..
This is a very useful drain pan for your garage or workshop and has replaced the old roasting tin I used previously when doing an oil change on the car. This TH2001 pan by Tools House holds an impressive 16 litres and is made from tough, lightweight black polyethylene which can stand up to oil, antifreeze and hot water — so is perfect for the home mechanic. A bit of thought has gone into this design and it was obviously produced by people who have worked on cars themselves — it is just the right size for many vehicles with the spout and handles where you would expect them to be. Currently around seventeen pounds from Amazon the Tools House 16 litre drain pan is good value for the design and quality and gets five stars for a good idea nicely executed — very handy indeed.
Easy to empty, easy to use, sturdy and durable.
It collected my old oil perfectly, and then after change very easy to pour old liquids back into the bottle.
No more spillage on the floor.
Bigger than it looks, but very sturdy and capable.
Was going to use it for garden machinery oil or petrol draining, but it’s larger than it looks.
Instead will be used for the Kubota digger and other engines in the Heritage Train Restoration Shed
Very handy indeed
This is a great 16L oil drainer for your car. I used it to drain my 2.0L Audi A3 with no problems whatsoever. The drainer is great for pouring into an empty can after because it’s got handles on both ends for holding. Well worth the price and highly recommended.
This Oil Drain Pan couldn’t have arrived at a better time as we are just about to service the cars. My OH always likes to do the basics himself including the oil change
It is a moulded and very sturdy construction with a very handy spout for pouring the oil into a container.
The size is plenty big enough to hold all the oil in an oil change and sits very level and stable so no accidental spills.
He would have liked to see the addition of a spigot on which to stand the oils filter while it drains into the pan
But otherwise very happy with it.
Good value and Recommended
Tools House 16 litres Oil Drain Pan
For many years I have muddled along with many various containers used to capture waste oil from the car. To be honest, none of those were particularly successful. I have used old sink bowls, cut down 5 litre cans, cut down buckets, the list goes on. Often they were either too tall, not big enough or just too flimsy, spilling the contents as soon as the container was moved. To successfully drain oil from a car it should be hot, cold oil is thicker causing some old oil and sludge to remain. The problem with a makeshift container, is that hot oil may spill on the hands causing you to drop the container.
Forget all of the above!.. This is a purpose made oil drain pan, it will take up to 16 litres of waste oil so there is no risk of over filling it. The pan is low profile which means it should slide under the sump without having to lift the vehicle up very high from the ground. This has 2 large carry handles and a spout, disposing of the oil is easy and less likely to be messy. The pan has a large lip around the top preventing spillage over the sides whilst being carried. The lip also prevents oil running down the side of the pan when emptying as all oil is directed towards the spout.
This has been made from very tough indestructible plastic, this is unaffected by heat or oil, it should not split or break. The material used is very similar to that which is used in plastic petrol cans, although this feels a little thicker.
If you work on cars or maybe service your own, then in my opinion this is simply a must have oil drain pan. I just cannot understand why I have never ordered one of these before?
Highly Recommended!

Hey guys, if you’ve watched any Chris Fix videos, then you’ll know this is exactly what you need for an oil service! It has an anti-splash lip to prevent you getting covered in oil while you’re under the car. It has a spout to enable easy pouring and a handle to make carrying easier. It’s made from a tough plastic (think wheelie-bin thick) so is nice and robust.
At 16 litres it’s overkill for the average car but why not service another car while you’re at it! Just make sure you.. wrench every day!
Thank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.
This drain pan is obviously of good quality My husband is in his 80s always had cars nd always drained oil and antifreeze and never had one of these. he cannot believe how convenient it is . IT is made of black polyethlene which will hold hot or cold liquids. It has the capacity for holding 16 litres which is more than adequate for any car we have had. There is a rim all round it which prevents fluid splashing out. There are 2 hand grips one on each side. one is bisected be a fitting with nozzle which allows fluid to be emptied out with no effort. Really good piece of equipment which makes oil changing hassle free
This is a huge pan. Absolutely massive.
Really tough hard plastic .
My wife and I are even thinking if using it as a base for a little fairy garden as it’s a good solid structure.
In terms of quality it’s up there but in terms for price it’s 17 and there are plenty of cheaper versions of this almost identical so have a shop around
This is a good quality pan and seems easy to clean, I love the pouring spout as will help massively with disposal.
It beats my old method on my motorbike which is a cut up evian bottle to collect it.
UPDATE
I have used this for a number of things
1. washing my dirty wellies outside
2. Washing my motorbike helmet inner lining
This draining pan is made of black polyethylene and is ideal for draining fluids from your vehicle such as oil, coolant, or gearbox oil. It has a storage capacity of 16 litres which should be sufficient for most jobs and a border lip to minimise splashing while you are draining. It may however, require jacking your car up to provide sufficient clearance to place it underneath.
The pad is quite light to manoeuvre and has built-in handles but looks to be well made and is rigid when full. It has an integrated spout for easy draining of waste the fluids into their final container for disposal. This is a vast improvement on the usual saucepans or baking trays I have used in the past that are always likely to overflow, is well designed and should last a long time.
I received this item through the Amazon Vine programme. This is a very solidly moulded oil drain pan, with a spout built-in to assist in emptying. Large handles at both sides give a steady grip when carrying it full.
The pan is quite a size, 17″ at the maximum diameter and capable of holding 16 litres, far more than a conventional family car would contain, so maybe intended for commercial vehicles. It’s tough enough to stand on (I tried) so gives the impression it would last in frequent use.
The current retail price of 16.90 is rather high, by scrolling down the Amazon page you can find identical items for two-thirds of the cost, so not such good value for money.
Nevertheless, a useful and well made item.
